I think it's a variety of things. Olin built a great program. Kids moved in to play for him. When we went to 3 schools, the talent level became too diluted and Lee being in the old part of town was already seeing declining numbers. Similar to the situation in the Golden Triangle. The difference though is that the third high school was an immediate and drastic effect where the decline in setx is slow so they are able to maintain quality programs. So now you have some instances where a few kids move to stronger local programs such as Crosby and Northshore or just lose interest. I know that there are a number of single sport kids, namely basketball and baseball, at GCM that could help the program either as starters or just adding depth. Also the shifting demographics like Buddy alluded to have a small impact as well though I don't see it getting as bad as Pasadena. That being said, there is a glimmer of hope. Baytown and Barbers Hill are still seeing tremendous growth. GCM sits in the highest growth area of Baytown and is already adding on to the building with room for more additions. Hell, there is even supposed to be a new master planned, $200,000 + home neighborhood being built in Lee's zone in the Evergreen area. That will probably effect BCA' s enrollment more than Lee's but will provide more tax revenue for the school.

That's a bold prediction to make after just one scrimmage. I'd like to see Lee pull it off but I don't think it's going to happen. It's too bad the schools can't fight for a city championship. I know " The Game" is the traditional rivalry but, if Lee can't turn things around, the GCM Sterling matchup will be "The Real Game" and Lee Sterling will become "That ol has been game."

About what you would expect for a first scrimmage. The O line was porous at times but had some good series too. Herman seems to be throwing the ball better, if they can get the passing game tuned in it will keep defenses honest. The defense looked solid for the most part especially considering that they are not schemed to stop the slot t or whatever Lee's offense is. They won't see that again this year. Next week's game against PAM should give us a better idea of where we stand since they are probably a lot closer to what GCM will be seeing in district this year.

That will go nice with the black tops. Are they still going to have the numbers on the other side?

Vype has the district finishing: Northshore Atascocita Summer Creek Kingwood Channelview King GCM Sterling I'm surprised that two out of the three magazines have Sterling finishing last and have King and CV, finishing ahead of the Baytown schools. I think Sterling's sophomore running back is going to catch some people by surprise. I understand GCM not getting any respect, we haven't earned it.........yet.

Best/Favorite Uniforms in SETX?
John Blutarsky replied to dBerrySports's topic in High School Football
Coach Jones just posted a pic of GCM' s new all black uni' s to instagram. Very nice. -
FNF Magazine has it: 1) Northshore 2) Atascocita 3) Kingwood 4) Summer Creek 5) C.E. King 6) GCM 7) Channelview 8) Sterling

I'm still doing my research but I'll go with this for now. 1. Northshore 2. Atascocita 3. Kingwood 4. C.E. King 5. GCM 6. Sterling 7. Summer Creek 8. Channelview I'd like to see Sterling finish higher but I think they'll be in a little disarray having changed coaches so late in the year. Kingwood was 6 and 4 last year and played some good teams somewhat close but I don't know what they're losing and what they have coming back.

Baytown Sterling Goose Creek Memorial Northshore Channelview C.E. King Atascosita Summer Creek Kingwood We all know NS and Atascocita are the top two, but in what order? How do you see the rest of the district rounding out? How does CV look without Hurts? How bad will GCM and King have it moving up to 6A?

Whoever gets that Sterling job will be inheriting one of the best young running backs in the area. I believe you know who I'm talking about. -

The Game: 50th Anniversary
John Blutarsky replied to Peppermint Patty's topic in High School Football
Lee Sterling is. GCM Lee is not, though they will scrimmage. Lee and Sterling will be playing to see who the second best team in Baytown is. ; ) -
The Stadium itself is the largest in Houston. But it needs better turf, paved parking lot and new concessions, restrooms and locker rooms. A ski lift to get you up higher in the stands for us fat boys would be nice too.

Anyone know the score?

How's the weather looking?

GCM wins 4 -2 then takes Nederland by a run on Saturday.
-
Anybody know the pitching matchup? GCM has Nederland on Saturday so tough back to back games for the Pats. I wonder how that will play into there pitching choices.
