I couldn't make the games tonight, but I was told that Genty 8A beat BH North A 25 - 0 and Gentry 8B won 40 - 12 over BH North B. No word on the 7th grade. Bye next week then a battle for first place with Crosby. Does anyone know the results of the Crosby v Baytown Jr. 8th grade games?
-
Gentry 8A wins a shootout against Baytown Jr. 33 to 26. Both teams fought hard. Gentry 8B wins 34 to 6. I heard Gentry 7A loss to Baytown jr and Gentry 7B won, but I don't know the scores.

GCM needs a recruiting cooordin...... err ....umm a student relations coordinator. Mailbox distributor??
-
There are a just a few on the freshman team.
-
Comparing Attendance zone maps, it looks like one Baytown Jr neighborhood goes to GCM, the rest goes to Lee.

The rest of the scores: Gentry 8A - 32 Highlands 8A - 12 Gentry 7A - 13 Highlands 7A 13 Gentry 7B - 20 Highlands 7A - 13 Also according to the Crosby Middle School Athletics Facebook page: Crosby 8A - 44 Horace Mann 8A - 19 Crosby 8B - 28 Horace Mann 8B - 0 Crosby and Gentry 8A I believe are the only 3-0 teams. Highlands plays Crosby next week. Gentry has Baytown JR. Thanks for the scores GCMinTheFuture.

Wow, didn't this Dayton squad win district last year or was it Crosby?
-
Only score I have is Gentry 8B 30 Highlands 8B 0.

I can't record a game I'm trying to watch, the camera would wind up broken. lol Edited to add: Where are the country bumpkins? I'd sure like to know how Dayton and Crosby are doing.

Gentry can supply the speed. We have two tailbacks, a qb and even a a full back that had long td runs last night. The tailbacks and the QB are zoned for GCM, not sure about the full back yet but I'm trying to find out. The only thing that can through a wrench into things is the Academy enrollment. Hopefully those kids want to stay at GCM. Our defense was really flyiing to the ball and made some great open field tackles. Horace Mann has a couple of really fast, elusive running backs. They had a few big runs but we kept them out of the end zone. We'll be seeing ya'll next week. Bring your track shoes!

How's your offensive line looking? Ours looks decent, I'd like to see more size but we have a couple of big boys. I don't know which ones are going to Sterling or GCM though. Also as far as rezoning the high schools, I've heard through the grapevine that the district is leaning towards leaving things as is, so GCM will probably be 6A next year, but I'm hearing this third hand so take that for what it's worth. Ultimately I think that's for the better. Even if they re zone GCM would still wind up in 6A two years later with a smaller area to draw atheletes from. This way they can take their lumps now and hopefully be more competetive by our kids junior and senior years. Hopefully the new neighborhoods going in will bring more atheletes. I would like to see Boyd and his coaching staff do like Sterling's coach and try to get more kids in JH and HS excited about playing and get the numbers up. I know of a few good atheletes that are just sticking with baseball.

Just saw the Crosby / Cedar Bayou 8th scores from last week: 8A Crosby 34 Cedar Bayou 7 8B Cedar Bayou 34 Crosby 0

Game day. Which grade is playing at home this week? Our 8th wll be at Stallworth tonight. You know this isn't as fun without any ponies or pumas to mess with.
-
Yeah, Gentry 8A should be ok. B team will be looking for revenge after losing a close one last year.
-
I was told Gentry 8A won their game against BH south as well. Not sure of the score but he believed it was 30 something to a one digit number. If anyone knows for sure please post. Next up for Gentry, Horace Mann. Sounds like it ought to be a good one based on your description BH85.
-
Baytown Sterling has the top two guards fom Gentry JH and a couple of the big boys from Cedar Bayou JH. They have the potential to be pretty good.
-
I wonder when the Crosby, Dayton, and BH crowd are gonna join us.
-
Gentry 7A - 13 BH South - 2 Gentry 7B - 12 BH South - 0 I'll try to get the 8A score tomorrow.
-
Gentry 8B beats BH south 20 to 6.

I think GCCISD's Athletic Director needs to get more involved with the Junior High's. It's way past time for them to get their act together. That's sucks for both teams kids to be shorted a game. Why can't they rotate the the B team kids until they get more equiopment?

After talking to my boys, I am correct. Gentry's starting QB and #1 RB are currently zoned for GCM. Their #2 RB is also currently zoned for GCM but I heard he is switching to WR. I can also see the QB swiching to RB in high school. Of course this may change if the schools are rezoned or if any of these kids applies to one of the academies at another school.
-
Can't remember the name and number, I'll have to ask my boys. In fact, I'm thinking the top two running backs as well as the QB are zoned for GCM as well. Again the whole academy thing can change things.

Nah, GCM just needs to pull an Olin and recruit Sterling and Lee's atelete's north.....; ).
