  1. H6AB has Atoscocita ranked #11 in the Houston area, Northshore #20 and GCM ranked 29th. Personally, I think GCM can finish higher than Northshore. Don't know much about Atoscocita except that they are usually a strong team.
  2. Puny? Lamar's stadium seats 16,000. Stallworth seats 16,500. Granted I'm sure Lamar's stadium is much shiner with a ton more amenities, but being puny is not a problem with Stallworth.
  3. 341 yds rushing 4 tds 61 yds passing 1 td 40 receiving 1 td Not a bad night at the office. Too bad the rest of the team didn't pull their weight and make this a win. We're sure going to miss him next year.
  4. Are you hearing this from an official source. I heard (not officially) that GCM's Spencer was out for the season and Corbett and Modest were as well. I asked my son if Spencer was at practice yesterday and he said no. Just curious if we're getting our player back as well.
  5. Without their starting qb and rb Sterling is very vulnerable. It's levelled the playing field. This is the perfect time for Lee to make a statement. This is still a big rivalry so you can throw out team records. I would not count out Lee so easily.
  6. I'm hoping for a close exciting game so it will encourage some of the 16000 to attend more football games. I'm sure a majority of them haven't been to one in years. All three Baytown schools deserve more support from their community. I would also like to see GCCISD do more to promote the high school football games and increase attendance. Weekly right ups in the local paper just don't do it anymore as a lot of people stopped reading newspapers a long time ago.
  7. Nope, just homer with a kid on the team.
  8. PNG arrives in Stallworth Stadium and quickly learn that purple is the new black.........and gold. The defeated Indians head back to their reservation on the "bus ride of tears" or as we know it, interstate 10. GCM coach Bren Jones noted " They tried to attack us by air, but our Patriot Missile Defense quickly shot 'em down."
  9. That's Lee though, they don't have the support that GCM and Sterling have. 27 to 24 GCM. Time to beat the purple loin cloths off the natives.
  10. Great news. Congratulations to Deandre.
  11. I hope your wrong. I do think there are some improvements that can be made to better this team and I also think there are other games we can win. Santa Fe and Sterling for starters. Maybe Atascocita can be our Nederland in this district.
  12. My thoughts, I just hope the Patriot team that steps on the field next week is ready to compete. And I'm not a fan of the color purple. Sorry.
  13. The good ( yes there was some good): The boys did not quit. The defensive front 7 did not look bad and showed flashes of really good play against a much bigger o-line. Deandre Herman is a heck of runner when he has room to run and sometimes when he doesn't The bad: We have no depth in several key positions. The o-line is losing the battle at the line of scrimmage. Too many dropped passes. Too many open receivers for Tomball. The ugly: Second week in a row that the boys weren't ready to play. Too many penalties. In my opinion we have some people playing the wrong positions. Some of this can be fixed. Some can't. I think Coach Jones is going to have to make some personnel changes in some areas. May also have to look at bringing up a couple of kids from the JV that can contribute and help with the depth situation. We should have another playmaker back in the fold next week. Hopefully he can make some big plays and take some of the attention off Herman and Colon and open things up for them. Lastly, this was a much improved Tomball Memorial program than we've seen in the past. Hats off to them.
  14. Thursday at GCM for the freshman game. Friday at the biggest stadium in the Houston area watching the Patriots break in their new turf by pounding wildcat ball carriers into it.
  15. GCM by 10. If the kid from CV plays they will have a solid three headed running attack with him, Herman and Colon. Herman has to connect on some passes though to keep the defense honest. I hear TM is running the same offense Lee and Vidor run this year. Hopefully the defense bounces back from last week and plays with more speed and physicality.
  16. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about GCM after this scrimmage but it's still just a scrimmage. We were missing a few starters but so was PAM. The difference is we don't have the depth to overcome that. My biggest concern is the Patriots don't look like they're ready for opening day yet. Way too many penalties and the passing game is not clicking. The defense needs to find some speed on the corners and take better angles to contain speedier teams like PAM. This is why we have scrimmage though. I'm sure Coach Jones and staff will make the necessary adjustments and we'll see a better team next Friday. We still have a move in from Channelview that hasn't seen the field yet that should make a big impact. I'm looking forward to see how they use him.
  17. I did not know that Impact "impacted" our numbers. That's ridiculous and shouldn't happen. Is this a UIL thing or is it a GCCISD thing.
  18. I think it's a variety of things. Olin built a great program. Kids moved in to play for him. When we went to 3 schools, the talent level became too diluted and Lee being in the old part of town was already seeing declining numbers. Similar to the situation in the Golden Triangle. The difference though is that the third high school was an immediate and drastic effect where the decline in setx is slow so they are able to maintain quality programs. So now you have some instances where a few kids move to stronger local programs such as Crosby and Northshore or just lose interest. I know that there are a number of single sport kids, namely basketball and baseball, at GCM that could help the program either as starters or just adding depth. Also the shifting demographics like Buddy alluded to have a small impact as well though I don't see it getting as bad as Pasadena. That being said, there is a glimmer of hope. Baytown and Barbers Hill are still seeing tremendous growth. GCM sits in the highest growth area of Baytown and is already adding on to the building with room for more additions. Hell, there is even supposed to be a new master planned, $200,000 + home neighborhood being built in Lee's zone in the Evergreen area. That will probably effect BCA' s enrollment more than Lee's but will provide more tax revenue for the school.
  19. That's a bold prediction to make after just one scrimmage. I'd like to see Lee pull it off but I don't think it's going to happen. It's too bad the schools can't fight for a city championship. I know " The Game" is the traditional rivalry but, if Lee can't turn things around, the GCM Sterling matchup will be "The Real Game" and Lee Sterling will become "That ol has been game."
  20. About what you would expect for a first scrimmage. The O line was porous at times but had some good series too. Herman seems to be throwing the ball better, if they can get the passing game tuned in it will keep defenses honest. The defense looked solid for the most part especially considering that they are not schemed to stop the slot t or whatever Lee's offense is. They won't see that again this year. Next week's game against PAM should give us a better idea of where we stand since they are probably a lot closer to what GCM will be seeing in district this year.
  21. That will go nice with the black tops. Are they still going to have the numbers on the other side?
  22. Vype has the district finishing: Northshore Atascocita Summer Creek Kingwood Channelview King GCM Sterling I'm surprised that two out of the three magazines have Sterling finishing last and have King and CV, finishing ahead of the Baytown schools. I think Sterling's sophomore running back is going to catch some people by surprise. I understand GCM not getting any respect, we haven't earned it.........yet.
  23. Coach Jones just posted a pic of GCM' s new all black uni' s to instagram. Very nice.
