Am i right?  I am sure the freshman point guard has respect for the Varsity but not too much because he knows that he has to bust his butt everyday to even get a slight chance to maybe see the floor at 7 on friday nights and you have seniors on the Varsity squad that don't respect him and they have their spots because guess what????  OH YEA...SENIORS HAVE TO BE ON THE VARSITY TEAM!!!
No where in UIL does it state that Seniors have to play varsity. It is usually something that coaches do out of respect for a kid that has been a member in good standing his entire athletic career. But I would assume if the well being of the team came into play and the number of uniforms was tight that a senior who was undeserving of a varsity spot would remain on JV his senior year.

I assure you the majority of the district teams were not "whole" over the summer. I know for a fact that Splendora and Tarkington's summer league teams were composed almost completely of sophomores and freshman. I watched Liberty play Tarkington in summer league and it was a 4 point game with one upperclassmen on Tarkington's team. So you will have to excuse me for not crowning the panthers as an advancing team just yet.
neither was liberty's by the way... but like i said they'd be good an i think they're play has spoken so thx for makin me look good
Notice I said the MAJORITY of the district teams. . .so that could include Liberty (by the way)  :P And as far as Liberty's play speaking for itself, Houston Heights is terrible and Dayton is missing several studs thanks to the football playoffs. If they can match up with Manvel or La Vega and come away with a win then I will give them a little credit. Thanks for being an over zealous fan, but you should wait on a win with some substance.

This matchup should have been closer, but what do you expect when one of the officials graduated from HF 2 years ago. (Verified by the HC) A little home cookin' ???
he reffed the 9th and JV games ONLY! Those games were not even close. In the varsity game, you guys were in bonus situations and you still didn't take advantage of it.  ???
Yeah your right 37-17 sounds like a fair foul count in an extremely physical game on both sides of the ball. HA HA not a big deal though. Just stating facts. I already stated that you guys had a good group of kids.

 5. Lumberton got some players this year? Saw 'em at EC Tourney last year and they looked a little rough, but Huffman aint no slouch.
 6. I overheard this conversation at the scorers table last night between the coaches and the officials. Official: Have you heard about the new rule? Coach: What new rule? Official: If you are down 20 in the fourth quarter then we run the clock. Can anyone confirm or deny this as a rules change??? (This was in a varsity game btw)
 7.
My comment was aimed strictly at a certain poster. Was not meant to be negative towards the Tarkington team. Hope they have a successful season.
Last years Tarkington team (that did make the playoffs I believe) won this very same game by 1 with a last second tip in. So apparently either Hardin isn't as bad as you think, or more than likely the first game of the season doesn't effectively predict district outcomes.  :o

UIL needs to get a clue. Its always about the athletics, dont even know why they ask on the paperwork. they just need to keep collecting their paychecks in their ivory tower.
UIL didn't say "recruit"... they said "moving for athletic purposes".. what's in bold is the definition of that. I agree though... how can they really say much when the parents have actually bought a home, etc. This could be done to several sports all across the state. Yates is paying the price due to their high profile status.
So in reality the only thing that truly makes it "moving for athletic reasons" is the ability of the kid who moves. If a kid with no skills moves into another district and plays bball for someone else then it all goes over smoothly. However, if a good ball player changes schools then UIL gets involved. Am I understanding this correctly?
 10.
Silsbee number 10? HJ 3? Cleveland 2? This poll is a joke! Who ever made this knows nothing about texas basketball.

Who's Boogy1000? Wrong persom my man. FYI I would hope you know more about local sports than me since I no longer live in Silsbee. I graduated with Lewis Arline, Thad Holden, Brandi Mccain etc..... This board is as close as I get back to Silsbee. Been to 3 games in 10yrs. I do watch them when they go to Huntsville since I live in The Woodlands.
You seem to be the one posing as the know it all. Contradict much?  ???
 11. I will agree with you though that none were very impressive. I think in this district the first two spots are pretty obvious and the last one is a total coin flip. Sounds kind of like district 21-3A
 12. Well I am sure Silsbee and HJ beat several people throughout the year by 50+. Teams with recent state championships are usually the exception and not the average.
 13.

The first two are good, but what did Liberty and Huffman do that makes them worthy of a 3rd place pick? Splendora or Tarkington have just as good a shot as the next guy.
Based on what I personally saw last year (saw Splendora, Shepherd, and Tarkington, along with the top two teams mentioned) I wasn't too impressed with those three teams. I say Liberty is the next team after Cleveland and Coldspring.
I know this is not a fight worth picking since you are the SETX Basketball guru, but I have a hard time putting liberty at 3rd based on last years statistics. We are talking about a Liberty team that only won two district games and had 100 put up on them by two different teams in district.
 14. The first two are good, but what did Liberty and Huffman do that makes them worthy of a 3rd place pick? Splendora or Tarkington have just as good a shot as the next guy.
 15. Has anybody else heard the rumor about the big kid from cleveland (Reed I think) possibly graduating early and not playing basketball this season? I heard it was a Mack Brown call.
 16. Well after reading the above posts district stats show that coldspring has the better defense. The Trojans are FAST with a capital F and making plays in the secondary will be childs play for them. Good luck to both teams, but I am afraid Coldspring is far superior in this matchup. Trojans by 14+
 17. New Head Coach, new coaching staff, new offense. . .no real surprise here. Maybe some of the cleveland faithful are getting a wakeup call that it's the combination of good coaching and good athletes. The two have to mesh together as they did for the last two years. The cohesiveness is just not there this year. TOO many changes in TOO short a time.
 18. Huffman hangs at least 50 on the Horns, but they should try to remain in REALITY when it comes to Coldspring. Coldpsring will beat Huffman by as many as they want.
