1. I hate to see a kid act the way Villemez does and get away with it. When is someone gonna take control of that kid. I watched him get in the face of an opposing teams coach one night and tell him he needed to sit down cause he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. (I was sitting behind the bench at the time) Both officials were reporting a foul and the Hardin coach was on the bench laughing about it. That kid needs to go back to off season, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of basketball potential there anyway.
2. Goin with the Tigers on this one. . . 66-64 in overtime  8) 8) 8)
3. Anybody got the numbers on 22-3A last night. I assume coldspring beat huffman, and who knows about the splendora liberty game. Could have gone either way. I heard that tarkington beat shepherd, but thats just hearsay.
4.

The Hawks definitely seem to be up and down this year. At home I have to give them the advantage, but not by much. 7 point HJ win!
Hmmm, I thought that HJ has been pretty consistant this year. Maybe just a couple of games where they were off.
Well in my own defense I have only been to 4 HJ games. Must have been the few they were off  8)
5.
The only reason why tarkington scored that many points is cause cleveland stoped pressing with in the first 4 mins it was already twenty something to 3 trust me if they pressed them the hole game it would have been way worse they might have not even broke 40 and cleveland prob would have scored alot more tarkington is very very weak if you cant get top 3 in this district then your team is bad.
Actually that is VERY VERY inaccurate. Cleveland pressed the entire game and shot every three they could take. Even shot one at the buzzer. The indians went out to score every point they could get and that number was 119. The reason Tarkington scored as many points as they did was from the pace of the game. Every other team in that district tries to play a slow down game and take cleveland out of the run. Tarkington went in there and just did what they have done in each of the few games I have seen. RUN RUN RUN. Why waste a week of practice changing your game plan for one game you're probably going to lose anyway? Cleveland is on a different level than anyone else in 22-3A

7.
I wasn't aware there was an opening. I almost took the bait and editorialized on the uninformed comments you make but the forums is no place for that, some of the kids read this stuff... Cleveland is good, very good, and they deserve credit for that, but not 62 points better than Tarkington from a pure talent standpoint. From all the comments made on here to the tune of "well, it was Tarkington after all" one would think some people believe Tarkington is some place where all the athletic rejects go. Do you think "our" kids are genetically inferior? That the water or nutrition in Tarkington is poor? That they should be satisfied with "going" to the playoffs and if they get drummed by the likes of Silsbee, Hj or whoever then thats good enough? What do you think the REAL difference is? You may want to do some thinking on that before you start taking mischaracterizing pot shots at "the fans" for being frustrated. BTW, little league basketball starts in Tarkington later today. Each player will play 2 quarters regardless of ability, preparation, or effort. I agree we need to get rid of that "little league mindset" as you put it. Cleveland is a fun team to watch but I agree that playing games that are basically not very competitive will hurt them come playoff time. I still think they will do very well in the playoffs and the entertainment level in those games will be high.
I assume that this means you have a kid that plays for Tarkington and you don't think they get as much playing time as they should. Actually when you bring preparation into it it sounds like you may be present at practice. . .so either you are a coach there yourself or you are speaking of things you know nothing about. UNLESS Tarkington has open gym practices???
8. The Indians will definitely have negative effects from being in such a weak district.
9. Was Ricossa playing when HJ lost to NW at the EC tournament?
10.
In playoff basketball coaching is worth a 10 point swing and Silsbee gets the edge there.
I will partially agree. . .the Tigers definitely know how to play when they get in deep, but Broussard has a state title under his belt as an assistant he has spent plenty of time in the playoffs in the past ten years. Those cleveland boys are juniors this year and they lost a very close overtime game to a very good HJ team last year as sophomores. They have a pretty bitter taste in their mouth and will definitely come out firing on all cylinders.
11. Is Silsbee picked to win that district aggiesarewe. . .because Cleveland will without a doubt win theirs. It might be pretty difficult for them to run into each other at the tournament unless it's regional finals.
12. SIDE NOTE: I have been to two Tarkington games, Tarkington/New Waverly & Tarkington/Cleveland. TARKINGTON FANS, GET A GRIP! Best I can tell based on past performance this is the best team Tarkington has had in several years, but the fans are about as negative toward the coaching staff as fans come. They complain about the defense and the playing time. Cheer for kids as individuals and not the team as a whole. It's really depressing to hear. The bottom line is these kids are pretty good when they show up. But after watching them play NW to 8 and then the blow out tonight, sometimes the kids play really hard and other times they just give up. If they come to play I say they can take second in their district, but if they don't I believe Liberty could take 'em. I just hope their fans can get on board with the coaching staff and pump these kids up to play hard and finish the season with a possible playoff opportunity. Come on now guys, if you know so much about the game then apply for the job and get rid of that little leage mindset  :-\
13. I've been to a few Cleveland games and if the Indians that showed up tonight against Tarkington are the same Indians that run into the Tigers. . .Silsbee ain't got a chance!!! Sorry aggiesarewe, 15 of 23 from the three point line is hard to stop. I understand it was Tarkington, but this years Cleveland team is legit.
14. Tarkington travels to Coldsprings on Friday the 8th. Any predictions?
15. Based on what? Where did you pull that from? based on fact. huffman will beat unless there is some home cooking from the refs or that mudhole slows the falcons down. huffman could have beat Shepherd by one hundred last year. Plus I realize that you only have like 15 posts but if you will read . . . I BOLDED the Liberty vs Shepherd call. No one made a Huffman/Shepherd prediction so get over yourself. And I have to agree. The Shepherd of last year didn't beat Tarkington or Splendora, so I m pretty sure that they ARE NOT the same team. HMMMMMMM Think about it!
16. I was thinking that was 1990, but your probably correct. I'm almost positive it was the first round though. Definitely 89, and I think ur right it may have been the first round. One of those years they went two rounds cant remember for sure which one.
17. Well ur both actually kind of right and wrong. Barbers Hill made the playoffs in 87, 88, and 89. From 90 through 95 the only year they made the playoffs was 92. I hardly call one year of the six considered the "early 90's" to be domination or the start of a winning tradition.
18. The game is going to be on the 30th in Shepherd! This could be a battle. . .I am sure the pirate faithful will be out in full force because unless something weird happens that WILL BE the 3rd place game.
19. Ha . . . I don't have a dog in this fight, but I like to see the underdog win from time to time and my vision in this one is if Liberty loses and the Pirates can pull off a win against Huffman then Shepherd can get themselves a playoff berth! As far as my association with the district, lets just say I am vested. Who is your team Kats?
