  1. And then I get this from the MIGHTY silsbee ex. So apparently you're account wasn't very accurate. how is it inaccurate again? there were some stupid 3 pointers taken with someone in their face and the kids were taken out of the game for it.... oh well that is a new tone from you, now silsbee wasn't shooting wide open threes they are shooting guarded threes in the second half with a big lead. That makes it sound better there are some kids who shoot the ball whether it is right or wrong and you just cant stop that... im talking about the real basketball players who only take the open shots not the ones who are "tryin to get theirs" I agree those kids are out there just trying to get theirs, but I have to disagree with your statement that it can't be stopped. it can be stopped... youre right about that but in silsbee's case those kids will get theirs it wont stop... Well discipline has to play a role eventually. Some years a coach get such a group of athletes that he can go deep with kids that don't listen. However, Cleveland, ranked one above you guys this year , has no more talent than they have had in years past, but there is no discipline in that program and eats em up every year.

  4. HA HA fight for my opinion like you would fight for yours. If opinions weren't different high school basketball would be boring.
  5. HA HA you said that about yourself. I just asked you a question, but I understand where things get blown up. I have a little girls that dramatizes everything

  7. Did anybody say Silsbee shouldnt try to win?
  8. Well aggies are we, until you said that no one had mentioned that at all. And I actually specifically stated that I didn't know how the game went down. Instead arrogance took over and all tiger supporters began to praise the overkill without saying how it did or did not happen. I still feel the same way and it that wont change, but oh well, why should I expect the people who scored 106 on a much lesser team to feel as if they are wrong. HA congratulations tiger, store up those EXTRA points, maybe uil will let you tack them onto your scores in the playoffs.
  9. Who cares who plays friday? Who cares about basketball? Who cares about SETXSPORTS? The people that religously write on and read this board care and have earned their right to post their mind. High School sports are still a part of the school day because it teaches adolescent kids life lessons. And kicking somebody while they are down is not a life lesson I want anybody to teach my kid. Win, be competitive, great, but OVERKILL, I ask again WHY?
  10. HJ beat Bc 109 to 40 last year don't throw stones when you live in glass house Im not from HJ so what glass house am I living in? What you think because I said something about Silsbee being a poor sport that I must be from HJ or do you just not understand the meaning of the quote you're throwin around. And second of all I would never tell a kid to quit or to pass up on a layup, but I would have them quit shooting three's and look for the open layup. You can also use these types of games as an opportunity to work on some things. Have you ever seen a team need to slow the pace of a game down to protect a small lead in the closing minutes. Silsbee could have worked the ball around a little bit. BC may have played bad, but I am sure they didn't just stand in the circle at half court and leave the goal ungaurded. There are other options. silsbee scored the majority of its points in the second half off bridge city missed shots and turnovers... they did what they were taught get the ball out and go thats the style thats has always worked for silsbee run and gun, and when they got it off a dead ball they did run somethings offfensivly they just happen to score everytime they did and BC couldnt answer.... only a couple of threes in second half were even being gaurded by BC are you saying that kids should pass up the opportunity to shoot a wide open 3 in a game situation just because they are ahead by a lot? do NBA teams pass up shots ever?!?! i saw the suns get blown out the other night the team they were playing never slowed down never quit trying to score... Well first of all I wouldn't compare high school basketball to professional basketball at any angle. Professional basketball is a disgrace to the sport and if you actually sat and watched an entire game of that 3pt line to 3pt line race then it already says so much. Second of all, you're dang right I would tell a kid to pass up on a wide open three in a game situation. Would you want your kid shooting a wide open three if you were down 2 with 20 seconds left in regulation??? There are situations where passing up on open 3's is okay and up 50 is one of those situations. Absolutely i would let him shoot it.... he cant make what he doesnt shoot... and thats a dumb question if he's wide open yea he'll shoot it he'd be crazy not too... why does it matter much you are up when shooting threes?? its not like they were showboating they just took WIDE OPEN SHOTS there's nothing wrong with that.... Which is why you're in the stands while others of us are on the floor. Cause you just don't get it. Next year you'll find a new band wagon to ride, buy yourself a new hat and shirt, and cheer for another 100 point team. That is why you feel the way you do, band wagon riders don't understand what it's like to lose because when things get bad they just find someone else to cheer for.

  13. What's the point in this? I am not sure the fashion in which this was won, press for 4 quarters or what, but busting the century mark on somebody who didn't even make 50 is pointless. I say don't pass up layups, but if any second half points were made outside of 10 feet then this is just pure and simple poor sportsmanship.
  14. As far as this battle is concerned the 2nd place team in 22-3A (probably Coldspring) shouldn't have any trouble in the first round against 21-3A. After that it's anybody's game. The 3rd place team in 22-3A is anybody's spot right now and it doesn't matter who wins it they won't get past round 1. Any of those bottom teams are likely to heat up from the three point line and accidentally win a game they aren't supposed to. However, my biggest issue with this whole district is Cleveland. I watched the Cleveland/Tarkington game last friday and that was only an 8 point game at the half. The second half the officials choked on their whistles and things got ugly. That class of sophmores in Cleveland is a great group, but they are beginning to turn into a typical "Cleveland" team. The defense has gotten lazy and turned to slapping and poking and you can just see the discipline slipping right out of the whole bunch. In a neutral site with playoff quality officials Cleveland loses no later than the second round, probably the first. They just don't live up to the hype as far as I am concerned.
  15. If I am coaching at HJ I am smiling right now because everyone is arguing over who is the best guard in the district and they both play for me. . .HA
  16. Talked to OF's coach after the Liberty Hill game and he said that they played the best game of their life. If OF's big guard get to the line a lot and finishes as well as he did, plus if the guards start raining in threes like they have been know to do then this game could be in reach at half time. But I am afraid this is as close as it will get. The Hawks will dominate the second half and this one won't even be close.
  17. Gonna be a barn burner. . .HA! Both teams have new coaches and players that struggle that put the ball in the basket!
  18. Well if the high school basketball ranking crew is anything like the BCS I wouldn't put much faith in them anyways . But all laughing aside I will go out on a limb and pick LH to win this one. Just cause I like anybody who beats the hawks! Nothing personal HJ, just like to see the crown change hands from time to time.
  19. This just goes to show that "homers" truly are blind. It took Liberty 3 games to score 20 points, so someone who is better at math than I am explain to me how they are going to beat someone by 20?
  20. This has "game of the week" potential. I take cleveland in a close one.
  21. It's not THAT they won, it's HOW they won. After talking to one of the Indian coaches, the only reason Liberty scored in the first place is because the defense had 6 kids on the field that hadn't seen it all year. Plus when you add in the win against New Caney I'd said this Cleveland team is for real. Maybe you guys will get a chance to see them face-to-face, but probably not cause the only way that would happen is in the playoffs.
  22. WOW, somone save this!! So we can make fun of him after the game lmao , liberty might win but not by that much of a margin. I don't think that's his score prediction, I think its the turn over count.
