This is so typical right now that you almost don't even have to make the post. However, I like BG almost as much as I like UK Basketball and he's gonna come around. Lets all be honest with ourselves when you have 18 kids and 9 of them are freshman and you have only 2 Seniors on the team, your gonna have a tough year. We haven't played well and that is all there is to it. Give the coach a break and let him have a year to build his team. GO BIG BLUE!

Maybe he's doing what a good coach would do. Letting the guys who don't get to touch the ball much in a game time situation, do just that. He is getting ready for conference play just like everybody else and there are some teams out there who know how to defend the paint and that means the guards are going to have to learn to pick up the pace somewhere. He got them some time in a non-conference game and I am sure he has a little bit going on upstairs. You Longhorn fans are always so critical of your coach.

Way to be looking out for me, but if there are seven teams in the district and Liberty is ahead of Shepherd that would make them. . .6th. Thank you sooo much for filling me in on info I already had. I know they aren't better than Kingwood Park so I had already placed them ahead in the ranking.

I don't know about Warren's chances making it to the playoffs, but liberty's don't look good at all. Improvement is one thing, but going from 6th in the district to 3rd will be quite a feat. In theory everybody has a shot, but I am more of a realist.

Has BC improved that much this year or is Jasper just that bad? I watched BC play at home last year against Silsbee and they had limited talent. A couple of guys who shot the 3-ball, but not very consistent and definitely not an aggressive team. Who did they recruit??? HA HA

So it appears I was correct . . . it WAS a good game. New Waverly wins by one point 56-55. Apparently I should have gone after all.

I would definitely add Gill to the list. He shot 78% against a competitive New Caney team and has at least earned a spot on this board. However, the two trash talkers should be ashamed of themselves. One bad game does not constitute a poor a shooter and I believe Gill should be free to let his game talk for itself. Nobody needs to dog him and nobody needs to talk his trash for him. The kid is a good shooter. . .nuff said!

This game should be a great one to go watch. Cleveland has a lot of young talent with a really deep bench and New Waverly has been smokin' almost everybody they play. . .including some 5A school. I give this one to Waverly (only cause it's a home game for 'em) What do you think?

Great game Coogs. Smith and McKiver both had a big night and Dowell was absolutely dominant on both ends of the floor. When you're that quick and you shoot the 3 that well it makes you hard to beat, and the Cougars had both. Good luck to you in the rest of the season. . .no one in your conference should be able to touch you. Aside from that the student body at this game was a classless bunch. They started out supporting their team which is great, and then in the fourth quarter they spent more time chanting obscenities at Coach Gillispie during timeouts than they did cheering for their own team. Give the guy a break. . .he just took over a large profile job with no Senior leadership. He has 2 seniors on the entire team. Give him a chance to recruit his own players and to help them understand his program. On a Wildcat note, it's great to see Meeks back on the floor and Crawford played on he** of a game last night scoring 28 and doing everything he could do with the boards. Does anyone know what happened to Patterson and why he wasn't playing last night?

Cleveland has a new group of freshman that are probably all playing up at the varsity level this year. I say this will be an interesting matchup. I give the edge to Coldspring at home though by 3. As far as the liberty/tarkington matchup. . .Liberty is a much improved team, but can't stand the SSSLLLOOOWWW tempo that Tarkington is going to bring to the floor. Longhorns by 7.

I can definitely agree with that. Silsbee is athletic, I just think HJ is the "smarter" team. It should be a pretty good game. . .I think I am going to try and make that one.

You're right it was meant as a joke. But you compared HJ Basketball to Lumberton Football. Big difference is Lumberton was a historical unsuccessful football team that had a great year. HJ has won a state championship. Just slightly different.

The sad thing about the hand check is that they have even quit calling it at the younger level and the kids learn nothing. When I was in school JH officials usually made all the tight calls and then explained them to the kids so they could actually learn the game. Not anymore. Now they are just there to make a buck like everyone else in this world. Where have all the real officials gone?

Yeah well when Hudson is behind and must foul to get the ball back, they won't have a choice but to send the hawks to the line. I will agree with you that throughout the course of the game the officials will be certain that Hudson gets their throws.

I haven't seen liberty play at all this year. Can someone who was at this game give me a heads up on what they have. I know they had a really good freshman group that is moving through the ranks. But overall as a team what are they looking like?
