All I can say is name 1 Dayt qb over last 4 yrs who was nominated/voted in@qb for all-dist.Now you have to ask how much returning exp.@qb does Dayt currently have=there lies your answer.Magnetic poles in Dayton on compass=arrow pointing south.Playoff streak intact only because 4 teams go,last kid behind center to rush over 1,000 yds in a season=Peyton Ploch, thank God we've had great success on special teams/kicking or basketball would be early.Moving kids in/out of different positions game to game gathers little in the stats column for recruiters to take notice of.A Herrera @ 5'7 150 a 3 yr qb had best pass completion % for a career@Dayt and although he had heart/game along w/great passing technics he garnered all my respect but 0 scholarships=no disrespect to Hancock but IF & a big IF he could match Andres abilities per say he doesn't possess the size/speed to play @ next level. We should be looking elsewhere for 2 yr starter @ qb=find a team leader w/size/speed that can tuck the ball & keep drives alive w/legs,routes we run I can throw those to atheletic kiddos.Show us fans some team heart/spirit we'll come pack the stands again. We ain't putting out that many D1 recruits so can we find some more great high school players w/leadership capabilities,my playoff shirts getting eatin up by moths/mildew,I'm ready for some excitement again

The answer to that would be to step outside of SETX. There's only one SETX district and you wouldn't play any of those teams until the 4th round. You go west to get your games or you play up. The issue you brought up is exactly what I'm talking about with the team speed, etc. Other than the Beaumont schools from over there you probably won't find as much team speed, however almost every 5A team in the playoffs will have more speed and a lot more size to go with it. And when they don't have size they crush you with their size like Cedar Park or an Elgin, something WOS just can't do to bigger teams with twice the kids.

Another thing is the amount of kids WOS plays both ways which isn't done as much at the bigger schools PNG would have to play. When Earnest Patterson, Austin Walter or Trey Williams drop 200 and 3 tds on you they're not turning around on you and playing defense, guys like Trey Baldwin and DT do though. I don't care how you slice it, you're not as fresh on your 130th play as you were on your first or even your 65th which is probably around the max for players at bigger schools minus qbs and o-linemen. Technically PNG should be fresher and be able to wear WOS down, they usually don't though, Angleton can and will. Ask Dayton.

IMO the non-district portion of the schedule is to play teams from different places and different styles that you could see in the playoffs. Not two smaller schools where one is basically a district game against a well known opponent, play somewhere in Harris County or Montgomery County like you will have to in the playoffs. You think WOS is fast, line up against some of those schools out in Fort Bend that have the same type athletes and 2000 of them to choose from.

Congratulations to Crosby freshman rb,Craig Williams, who's only the 5th freshman to receive an FBS offer in the state of Texas so far this year. He was offered by his rbs coach alma mater, SMU, over the weekend.

    http://247sports.com/Player/Craig-Williams-53431

2016 DB, Joseph Pickney, was offered over the weekend also by Texas State. Super physical downhill safety.

    http://247sports.com/Player/Joseph-Pickney-37331

Taylor Perry and Manny Netherly, ranked 32 and 34 respectively per the 2017 Texas composite, could also be picking up offers during the Spring evaluation period. Expect those two as well as Carlos Grace and possibly two others to be holding FBS offers after next season.

Looks like there's no shortage of talent the next several years. Scariest part is that the incoming freshman class could be the deepest of all.

Congrats to the previously mentioned kids and what they've accomplished to date.

I've been talking about this'15 team for three years now. Probably half this team's starters or more will be seniors. Headed by a senior qb who led his team to the semi-finals coming back with an even better offensive line to protect him, two D1 backs to hand it off to, and our deepest wr core under this staff. The offense should put up numbers like the Twin teams. If the defense can play anywhere close to what it was last year I think Dallas is a good possibility, most likely going 15-0 in the process.

Lol, why would I list Jared Lorenzen, David Greene or Josh Heupel who won a Heisman if the other guys were better? Would you consider Stephan Lefors or Sean Canfield special, both tore it up in college. Sharp sat behind Brett Hundley who will get drafted this year and UCLA just signed Josh Rosen who was thought by most to be the number 1 qb in the nation last year. I can name lefties for days who balled out in college. There's a lot more than you think for not that much of the popation to be left handed. Who's been better than Sharp around here recently? Who's had qb offers from UCLA, Baylor and Texas recently? There mustn't have been a special right handed qb around here for a while either using your theory?

That's probably the reason Walter doesn't play qb in college but Mike Vick, Steve Young, Kellen Moore, Tim Tebow, Matt Lienart, Chris Simms and Pat White were all southpaws too and had excellent college careers. Sharp being left handed doesn't have anything to do with it, his 3/4 delivery and questionable arm strength is the issue for him. Reed plays on a team with less talent than both and doesn't have the size limitations Walter does and still has been moved to receiver for the time being. The same thing will most likely happen to Jaquet also. The reason those kids don't play qb is because it's just flat out hard to play qb at the FBS level.

Reed's move is only supposed to be for the Spring to add depth to the WR core. Coach says he just want the best athletes on the field.

That goes to show just how hard it is to play qb in the FBS. Reed, Aston Walter and Aaron Sharp are probably the best three qb's from this coverage area over the past few years and they ALL have moved to WR or DB. People really need to understand this when trying to form an opinion on where they think their local qb should be able to play.

I think for the most part people think the refs do a decent job. When you go to different places it's probably the norm to feel you're getting the short end of the stick on questionable calls. This should help though.

Crosby lost to CE King by 7 on Crenshaw last year. Look at the pic of Duran making one of the top 5 catches of the year for us last year that wasn't. Should Crosby fans feel cheated we lost by 7 and there was a clear TD/reception at the 1 yard line that wasn't awarded? Call was that he caught it but he was out of bounds.

He's one of the top athletes in the country in his class. I think his grade is why you're saying he's one of the top backs in the country. He killed it in district play but every other back 22-5A played killed it against them too. When he was on the field with guys like Tray Williams, Kam Martin, Demarcus Smith and Deonte Chatman, all kids he's rated higher than, there was a distinct difference in the skills it takes to run with the ball. He's a better overall athlete than all of those kids except Chatman but he's not a pure back like the others are. It doesn't mean he won't play rb in college but to tab him over his counterparts like Rakeem Boyd, Kyle Porter, Darius Anderson and Kam Martin who are all in his class is a bit of a stretch IMO. The kid is a monster but just like Kai Locksley when he went to the UA game and played receiver, it's going to depend on where other kids in his class and where they commit as to what his RB options would be. That's just my uneducated opinion though. Congrats to him either way though and I hope I get to see him agiain this year.

DSC's teammate at Westfield, Ed Oliver. I'm not sure he wasn't the best DT in the state last year as a sophomore too. Only kid I've really seen really comparable from around here recently is probably Desmond Jackson who was also a Westfield product, I'll also throw in Malcom Brown even though he's from out in Brenham. The kid destroyed North Shore's o-line who's always one of the best in the state and even though they were blown out by Cedar Hill and Manvel, he was by far the best guy in the trenches in either side of the ball. Barring injury he'll be a first round pick in three years like Brown will be next month.

Here's a link to watch the 1v1's from camp this past weekend. The top tackle, Greg Little, is on there. The state's top guard(depending if Hudson plays right tackle) Chris Owens, is on there. Murphy is the state's second best interior lineman on most services and has some reps against Jones on there.

Fresh out of the 8th grade Tony had 95 tackles, 1 pick, 14 pass break-ups and 1 forced fumble. After his sophomore year his stat line read 191 tackles, 4 picks, 30 pass break-ups and 1 forced fumble. Rose had 12 catches for like 130 on Crosby last time we played but probably had 20+ targets and rarely if ever caught a ball on someone. There's a difference between scheming someone open and beating someone. Man to man I highly doubt Rose could get off the line, much less beat Brown on any route.

Recruiters aren't fooled by what they see which is why guys like Raelon Singleton and Armanti Foreman can put up 2/3 of the numbers Rose did and get 10 times more FBS offers than he did. Same thing goes for Morse and the numbers he puts up. People think he will get all these big offers but he doesn't even have a 247 page yet. Nobody is fooled but the people in PNG. You have to know what you're looking at THEN make an UN-biased evaluation of players.

I don't believe he does in high school but some schools are also recruiting him as a safety which might be a more natural position for him IMO. He was being recruited as an "athlete" before they specified designations for him as a RB and safety.

I've been saying the exact same thing for several years and people in SETX always try to point to WOS and Newton and say, "Why do these schools win if they aren't rich?" The short answer which people may not like to hear is because it's easier to win at the lower levels if you can find a dominant player or two. Kevin Shorter and DT make a lot more difference in their classifications than an Austin Walter or Corey Dauphine did in theirs. When a bunch of kids play both ways the team with the better athletes wins the vast majority of the time, at the higher classifications coaching plays into it a lot more. The more money you have the easier it is to attract a better coach which leads to a better program. All of that leads to being able to buy better"stuff", better assistants, more participation and ultimately more wins. The old conservative attitude in SETX kills their programs more than anything IMO though.
