  1. That one dimension is awful good though, plus all of Foster's offense graduated. Outside of the two HISD schools on their schedule they're only averaging 16 points per game, including a loss to 2-4 Lamar Con. The Hightower defense that stifled Manvel is just good. Hightower has already beat Manvel, Angleton and Foster and is only allowing 12.2 points per game and that's with Westfield dropping 38 on them. I think you're going to see Manvel, Paetow and Hightower all three rounds deep.
  2. North Shore lost to an unranked Westfield at the time and doesn't have really have any great wins on their schedule to date. Atascocita went on the road and beat a top 5 ranked Allen and their loss was on the road to a top 5 ranked Guyer.
  3. As of today I would say: 1. FB Marshall 2 Crosby 3. Montgomery 4. A&M-Con. 5. Texas High It’s hard to get a feel for FB Marshall this year because of their schedule. Their offense is kind of weird this year because their qb is also their leading rusher. I’ve been on Montgomery since the beginning of the year. They have all the offensive weapons, I’m just not sure about their defense?
  4. Yep, problem is that they’ve been looking for that consistency the last 60 years. Crosby seems to find it most years.
  5. Lol, if that was really the case then Vidor would’ve finished 1st in front of Crosby instead of 5th three spots behind them. Their seniors would’ve had memories of an area round shootout with Huntsville instead of a regular season win over a .500 team.
  6. If you're 35 or younger then you probably played on a playoff team every year you went to Crosby except '18. Senior year sucked but junior year went 10-2, undefeated district champs and lost to La Marque in the dome in the second round. Ran for over 1,000 yards, was first team all-district and signed D1. Since you asked though? VHS wasn't as easy to make highlights on back in the day but my son did find this technicolor footage on Youtube while searching for some film of the old man. Dropped over 250 yards on Dickinson in this one but all you need watch is the first play from scrimmage to answer your question:
  7. Lol, Vidor's shrinking population will have them in 4A-D2 before long and this is almost surely Crosby's last go around in 5A-D2. Only slot-T team we will possibly be facing from here on out is Liberty Hill in the semifinals. The time Vidor beat Crosby in district play they STILL finished in 5th place. That just goes to show easy it is to get up for one game against Crosby, but how hard it is to have to bring it every week like we do.
  8. Foster and Angleton are going to play for that last playoff spot and I think PAM will ultimately get Angleton in the first round. I think it's going to be a tough matchup for PAM though. I know they're running through their district as usual but I think when they line back up against a formidable opponent they're going to have trouble scoring. They don't run the ball consistently enough and rely too much on the big play. Plus the seem very susceptible to being outcoached.
  9. I think the question probably needs to be, "Why is Crosby trolling BH?". My answer would be to look at all the Crosby threads BH fans commented on prior to them collapsing against us. Y'all say all week it's because of one call but then lose by 14 the very next game? I don't think Crosby is "gloating" at all, I think it's more of a flat out ridicule. BH is the guy at the job that shows up bragging about his new truck Thursday but comes back to work with whiskey dents in it on Monday. The back and forth banter is nothing different than it used to be with Crosby and Dayton except the BH fans don't really have any ammunition to fire back like the Dayton fans did. I have a lot of BH friends at work so I actually like to see them do well, if for no other reason than the success of their kids. There we multiple BH fans in my department that drove up to Arlington to support Crosby in the state title game which I though was pretty awesome.
  10. I think Dayton pulls this one out at home. Broncos will be playing with nothing to lose in hopes of keeping their season alive and Ned will be on the road in what’s basically a must win situation. Dayton is coming off a confidence builder while Ned is coming off a game in which they were shut out offensively. We can point to the TC defense it they’ve given up more points to other teams on their schedule and none of them are over .500. I think Dayton scores enough to take advantage of the issues Ned is having on offense and gets their biggest district win since they beat New Caney in ‘15.
  11. North Shore seems to have figured out their backfield situation and the defense is settling in. I think Katy might be the only team that can stop them from a semifinal matchup with Lake Travis and I’m not sure Katy is going D1 this year? Katy goes D1 and it might be CE King that goes five deep and gets the pleasure of getting beat down by Westlake in the semis.
  12. It’s time for the cream to start rising to the top of the coffee. We can be overly humble and talk about how every team needs to be respected, blah blah blah. If we’re being straight up though, a team with aspirations to get back to Arlington should dispatch this TC team with relative ease. Crosby has played better the first six games of the season this year than we did last year. Lot of talk about the 2pt try in the BH game but no mention that that’s probably a game we lose regardless had it been played a few weeks earlier. We’re manufacturing a bunch of points without huge offensive statistics, that’s a key performance indicator of a dangerous team. Crosby doesn’t have a bunch of usable depth yet this year but I think we played about eight sophomores in the second half at some point last Friday. From an int, to some great tackles, to a few pancake blocks, to both rushing and passing tds, I would say they all produced in their given reps. At some point we’re going to have to be able to give Kirkwood and Womack legitimate breaks. Crosby playing well enough against TC so that the youngsters can come in and show that, would benefit the Cougars a lot moving forward. Defensively we probably need to figure out what to do when Casey gets a bunch of attention and we can’t get pressure with 3 or 4? Feels like we give up too many passing yards when we can’t get to the QB consistently. This game will be a good test for the run defense though. It’s the point in the season where Crosby needs to start ending dreams.
  13. We definitely do. I liked our chances until Cotton got hurt though. Abseck might have seen the writing on the wall at CP. He had lost all the long time assistants over the las two years with Quintero taking the Red Oak job and taking some guys with him, and the OC taking the San Antonio Peiper job earlier this Spring and taking guys with him. DC, who won the state titles, stayed with Quintero who just came back to be CP’s head coach and was also an assistant under Willis.
  14. Give me Dayton at home 31-27 over Ned next week. Broncos playing to stay alive and Ned looking they might start treading water. That 35 they put up on PNG might have a little more gravitas considering BH just scored the same thing. I said last week that I wouldn’t be surprised to see Dayton ruin someone’s season. Ned might be ripe for the picking right now.
  15. I think they’ve benefited from playing some offenses that weren’t very good. They also just got held to 14 points at home. I think they lose next week something like 52-21.
  16. I said Huntsville would finish 5th a couple weeks ago. Might have given them too much credit? Without the Bobino’s to keep the score low that offense can’t put up enough points without Southern at qb.
  17. If y’all put Fuselier at QB please wait until after the Crosby game like we did with Dunn. We need him touching it as few times as possible. On the flipside if Ned uses him like they did the Seay kid at QB he might be worn down by the time he makes it to us.
  18. Crazy that Crosby has four games left and has to potentially play for the DC in three of them. Going to be a fun four game stretch to finish the season. I expect it to start with a statement win over TC next week.
  19. You and TradenUp are the most reasonable BH fans on here. Y’all won’t say that stuff but others will. The reason you pay the money to hire Abseck is so you don’t do exactly BH has done the last two weeks. Absolutely no reason BH shouldn’t have finished at least 2nd in the district this year, first year coach or not. BH currently has their best backfield since Denny and O’Neal, they have their best receiving core in history maybe. Yet they might finish 5th?(I personally think y’all will beat Ned and get in). You can make a good argument for BH having the second most talent in the district this year. That almost never happens. The most wrong assumption you can make is that y’all will automatically be better in the coming years because two of your best skill players are sophomores though. I’ve made that mistake multiple times myself over the years. May be something to your DC comment as I posted a couple weeks ago. Luckily y’all get a bye week to regroup with Santa Fe coming to town.
  20. They really didn’t choke. They just played like they did the first four games of the season. It’s easy to get up for one big game against Crosby when you’re playing with house money. It’s hard when you have to do it every week though. Good win by PNG, kind of felt like this would happen.
  21. I said 10 years, as in ‘11-‘20 which is where he’s 2-4, officially 1-5. I think you have to classify both ‘13 and ‘20 as blowouts. His first two wins against Crosby his first two years as PNG’s coach were against Flannigan who was not a good coach at Crosby and was fired a year later. Flannigan missed the playoffs his first year and then went six straight but was still fired at the end of the ‘11 season. What he did just didn’t work here. That’s why we’ve looked different under the last two coaches. You can say the same for BH letting Gage go now. What I’m saying is BF doesn’t get RJ’s, that’s why I point to him as a singularity at PNG. Crosby coaches get the Walter-type kids. Riggs was good but he was not a better receiver than Rose, he just got the benefit of playing with RJ who made you keep 8 in the box to stop him from running. Again, he was a very good high school player. You talk about Walter’s game against y’all like it was better than Williams’ 300+ and 5td performance or Howard throwing for over 300 and 4tds the same game. You forgot that though because of the 10tds RJ put up. I didn’t go all the way back through the stats but Crosby has probably has close to nine 1,000 yards rushers since the Twins graduated. Our coaches get a lot of explosive players so the Twins weren’t an anomaly at Crosby. RJ was for BF and to his credit he took advantage. They were his three best years, we never made it out of the second round with the Twins though. Point I’m trying to make was theorized by Crosby in ‘11 and verified by both Crosby and BH with their recent play under their new coaches comparable to where it was. Undoubtedly BF is a great person and sometime that’s enough.
  22. I just went back ten years like I mentioned in my OP. BF is 2-4 against Crosby and both wins were with RJ which was my point. Not just against Crosby but in general. One PNG win he accounted for all 10 tds and the other game in ‘18 was when he threw a td at the end after doing some type of Houdini scramble. If you look at BF’s playoff history over the last ten years is mostly just RJ. I think his only first round win without him in that period is the shootout y’all had with Dayton in ‘15. I think y’all won when Dayton went for two at the end of the game? I saw y’alls second round game that year when Angleton ran two different running plays and Billy Foster put up like 325 and 5tds as a sophomore in a blowout. I think BF is good coach but IDK if I would say he’s the best fit for PNG’s personnel. Seems like his style of coaching is still more geared to what he was working with at Odessa Permian vs what he has on an average basis now. First couple of years were solid but once everybody sees it and adjust he needs RJ.
  23. Texas City isn't very good on either line of scrimmage. They have some decent skill pieces, especially on the defensive side, but if they can't run the ball effectively they're not going to score much. That may not mean anything because Nederland doesn't look at that great on the defensive line but if Ned can get to 31 points I think they probably win this one.
  24. Right at 6', outstretched arm would put him over 8' though. Have to throw in some additional length for the ball too though as you can see it's past his fingertips. Again, you're talking about the knee from that angle when the ref made the call for the ball actually breaking the plane on the dive while he was in the air. From where he was on the pic I posted to where he was from the angle you're using he would have to had been running forward, dove forward, BH player pushed him forward but would've somehow had to have gone backwards? The ball didn't barely hit the pylon either, the whole ball was over by the time his knee hit which means the plane was broken earlier.
  25. The ball was on the two yardline for the conversion, why would the sideline cameraman be 50 yards away on the other side of the coaches and players who could ruin their shot? The other pic is closer to 50 yards away though. Notice in the pic I posted that you don't even see the cameraman who took the shot you're talking about. That person was the goalposts cameraman in the back of the endzone in the middle of the field, meaning at the bare minimum they're 37 yards away, that's why that shot looks blurry and the one I posted looks like it's in HD. Ref didn't make the call off the pylon/knee, he made it because the ball crossed the goal line prior to that. Y'all have a great game too though. The whole district will be watching to see what level y'all play at when you're not lined up across from those red and white jerseys.
