It is what it is. So like I originally asked, how did not playing Vidor backfire against Crosby?
-
Sorry the sentence was too complex for you. I’ll see if I can break it down to 5th or 6th grade level next time.
-
Nederland has three or four wins over Crosby, PNG probably has about 10.
-
We were unranked last year when we beat #3, #4, #5 and #7. Hopefully we can sneak up on them again.
-
When the Crosby admin chose not to play Vidor they had never even played before so the premise that we didn’t want to play them because they had beaten us is a lie. Vidor has beaten Crosby twice, once in bi-district in 2011 and once in district play in 2019. If that is several to you then fine. How did it backfire against Crosby? We put better teams on the schedule that were more likely to run what we would face on a deep run like we had to the state championship last year while Vidor hasn’t won a first round game since that 2011 contest. Crosby is rolling and Vidor went .500 in 4A last year, if that’s the karma we got them give me more of it.

If I could post the film you would see Crosby didn’t really even blitz, much less send the house. If the rb stayed in to block then the the LB rushed but Crosby hardly ever sent more than what PA’s linemen could’ve individually blocked. I have the film of Sanders getting sacked with Crosby playing three down linemen against five PAM linemen. Carthage’s o-line did a better job blocking than PAM missing even more linemen. Sending the house is what I would consider sending more than six and I don’t see Crosby ever doing that, that’s why the deep balls weren’t there. They just got back there so fast it looked like that. PAM had trouble consistently blocking BH the week before so it’s not a stretch to think they were going to have an issue blocking Crosby, especially with linemen out. -

Wish I could post some clips to help your point but it says the videos are too large? PAM struggled to win individual matchups along both lines of scrimmage, the o-line in particular. I’m sure that had something to do with the injuries. To his point about the coaching though, PA actually struggled to block the BH d-line too. They just didn’t have a Casey or Bradley that could finish the pass rush. Pointing fingers at the coaching staff is always the easy way out but when you see how PA looks physically it’s hard to do otherwise. -

He’s already beaten North Shore in a regional final in ‘16 and kind of handled them in district play in ‘17 before Davis got it going. They’ve already shut down a pretty decent Allen offense this year. I don’t think SC would be the other team to beat them, I think it would be CE King. -

Coach Tarr actually had the run defense playing pretty well starting about halfway though the ‘19 season. Crosby did give up over 1,000+ rushing yards and about a dozen tds in the semis and state championship combined last year but I kind of give him a pass on the slot-T stuff and Crosby just didn’t have the personnel to stop Aledo. I can see why the statement is being made after holding Carthage to 0 total rushing yards and PAM to -14 though. Coach Poth definitely has the defense playing with a different swagger but it also has to be noted that he has some savages in that front seven. Overall this defense is more talented than what coach Tarr was working with last year. -
With Texas city probably sitting at 5-0 when Nederland comes to town in a few weeks, this one could well be for a playoff spot.
-
I would definitely say A&M Con. is the favorite in the region right now based on how well they’ve played on both sides of the ball. May feel different if Huntsville beats CE King this week. FB Marshall doesn’t look as dominant as I expected them too at the line of scrimmage this year, they may get beat by Huntsville or A&M-C in the second round.

Kind of surprised by this one, Lamar wasn’t expected to do much in the Houston area this year. Crazy that Westbrook is probably going to miss the playoffs in a year where North Shore might finish 3rd in the district. -

Week 3 Port Arthur Memorial 26 Crosby 41/FINAL
Cougar14.2 replied to Aggieswife's topic in High School Football
I do feel like it gave us a head start, especially defensively. All but one or two starters on that side of the ball were still practicing in mid-January. I think the personnel is more solidified at this point in the season versus where it was at this point last year too. It was always going to be tough with a QB making his first varsity starts against Carthage, Manvel and PAM though. Going to be a relief for him to see Dayton. -
Crosby Barbers Hill PNG Texas City/Nederland Nederland/Texas City Kingwood Park Dayton Santa Fe Crosby really needs to play seven solid district games so we can play from the #1 position this year. It would be a very good accomplishment for a team this young to be able to do so.

I think you mean #45 Chancellor Bradley? Kid was a beast last night, especially in the second half. Crosby’s front is legit. Holding Manvel to 28 offensive points, holding both Carthage and PAM to 20 offensive points is a pretty solid three game stretch for a defense replacing 8 starters. Feels like we’re on the right track. -

@pakronosThe effort your four star corner gives on this play has zero to do with y’all missing offensive linemen. -
I’m sure TW was trying to schedule tough teams for BH in non-district play. GCM doesn’t really qualify as that right now. Good chance they’re in the same district with GCM next year though.
-
A&M Consolidated - 28 Converse Judson - 14 They just put 5A-D2 region 3 on notice.
-
It’s because of the district they play in. Their most notable win this week was Lee beating Lumberton by one point. I think they’re in play for one of the last two spots.

Cougar14.2 replied to Aggieswife's topic in High School Football
Lol, bro y’all were an opening kick return off a house rule. I know you had all that s*** you planned on talking lined up at 13-0 six minutes into the the first quarter too, huh. Then y’all got your behinds whipped 41-13 the rest of the game. I agree, Crosby definitely has some stuff to clean up because we could’ve beat y’all worse had we made more of the plays that were there. If you think one lineman being out is the reason PAM lost then you probably can’t figure out why y’all are losing to 4th place teams in bi-district either. -
Week 3 Port Arthur Memorial 26 Crosby 41/FINAL

After watching the film of BH vs PAM, in the prediction thread I said that PAM’s o-line struggled to block #54 1v1 and had an issue with #34 coming on the wide edge rushes. To PA’s credit they just put two on Casey from the opening whistle and kind of neutralized him even though I still think he had a couple sacks and tfls. As the game went on though you could see doubling Casey was exposing more of the issues BH couldn’t. I feel comfortable saying no QB in SETX not named Sanders or Anderson could’ve avoided being sacked 15+ times tonight with the way Crosby got pressure combined with the slow developing deep routes the PAM OC seems to want to lean on. One PAM fan had it right when they said we couldn’t stay with their receivers. I don’t remember PA completing a single deep ball to one of their receivers in man coverage but every time we missed an open field tackle against one it was a house call. This was my first time getting to see PAM in person. Someone from Crosby said they’re like FB Marshall which is a very good comparison at the skill positions but FB Marshall is a lot better at the line of scrimmage, on both sides of the ball. If PA got that fixed they would be three or four rounds deep every year. -

Dayton out here whipping people like Crosby needs two weeks to prepare for them. Glad we got it and congrats to a fan base that really deserves one to go their way.
