  1. If everyone gets it together there’s no reason we can’t get three teams in the third round this year. District champ has made the third round ever since they split the divisions. The questions are; can our runner-up beat Texas High and can our third place team beat the Huntsville vs Consol. winner? I’ll be biased and say Crosby is going to win the district but just looking at film and watching some games I like our district’s chances in a Ned vs Texas High matchup and a BH vs Huntsville/Consol. matchup this year. All three teams have things to clean up but I think the district is competitive enough this year that it’s going to force you to do so. Our 5th place finisher this year would probably be a playoff team in 75% of 5A-D2 districts.
  2. Crosby vs Day . . . Never mind Manvel plays FB Hightower, Hightower will probably finish third and be the first round opponent for the runner-up 9-5A-D1. Marshall plays Pine Tree in 9-5A-D2, winner is probably the second round opponent for 12-5A-D2 district champion. New Caney vs College Station is a big game. I think CS is one of the four best teams in that region this year along with Lone Star, Ryan and Highland Park. I think CS is going to be a little too much this time but NC could make a major statement with the upset.
  3. You know he was sick after they got destroyed by FB Marshall and Crosby took them out in the regional final the next week. Made that DC look like the fluke it really was. That’s about the time he stopped responding last year.
  4. Hey man, we’re just happy an average team like Crosby could make it further than a sub-par team like Nederland. I remember you blowing that same hot air last year too. Region looks easier to me this year, I wouldn’t be so quick to run my mouth.
  5. Crosby has been to the playoffs 15 of the last 16 years. Donta Allen was a solid contributor for us before he got hurt in ‘14 and Branch was a beast last year. Those were the two main kids and those kids weren’t comparable to Haynes throwing for 4,000+ in a season, Walter rushing for 2,700+ Beck catching 100+ balls for 2,000+ yards, all which have been done in Crosby’s 16 year playoff stretch I’m talking about. It’s clear you have no idea what you’re talking about when it comes to Crosby.
  6. That’s what the funniest thing is to me. All the Baytown kids we’ve had are from Barrett Station. We’ve had one Baytown kid be a major contributor on a team that has made a deep run and now we’re dependent on them, lol. Some of these folks are hilarious.
  7. Why do you keep saying that? Round Rock won their district and LT would’ve gotten blown out had they played Westlake last year in the district play. That wasn’t surprising Round Rock beat them.
  8. In another note, A&M-C is losing 17-10 to a not very good Willis team
  9. Good game right here. Hopefully Atascocita’s QB is healthy enough to finish. Had a chance for points at the end and kind of went down soft.
  10. 35-6 King at the half. They definitely have 60 if they want it.
  11. 28-0 King. I doubt Huntsville can beat whoever the second place team in 12-5A-D2 is.
  12. Huntsville’s offense is worse than it was last year without being able to just throw it up to Woodberry. Not near the run defense without the Bobino brothers either.
  13. 14-0 King. This might not even be competitive.
  14. They sure had that attitude last year. I can distinctly remember our district mates predicting Crosby would get killed in rounds 2-6, they just moved the prediction every week until they were eventually right. If we’re being honest, outside of when they play Crosby every other team in this district folds when they get on the field with a big time opponent.
  15. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gilbeau play primarily in the nickel in college. Great athlete but doesn’t look as fluid as Vincent in coverage. Kirkwood got him on a double move for a td too but was overthrown. I think his ceiling is probably PJ Locke which ain’t bad at all.
  16. Not a fan of the transitive property but kind of my thoughts too. Texas City beat Clear Brook and Clear Brook just beat La Porte by 26. I’m rooting for Coach Tarr to get La Porte turned around though.
  17. Same could be said for when PAM was driving and had the tipped int inside BH’s 10 yard line. The score was misleading in the sense that BH didn’t get blown out like that the whole game but it was right in the sense that they played bad at the end of it. Same issues Holdren showed at the end of the game were the same ones that plagued him last year. I do think the matchup with Crosby will be particularly tough for BH this year with the way we’ve been able to play run defense.
  18. The Guyer defense is good but the Ryan team they beat isn’t on par with the one from last year. QB from last year is starting at Memphis as a true freshman, JT Sanders is at Texas and Billy Bowman is at Oklahoma now. To your point, they’re still a very talented team though. I don’t think people really realize how good Atascocita has been lately. Last year was the first time since 2013 they’ve lost more than 2 games in a season. They’ve won 10+ games six of the last eight years and have been to at least the third round every year since ‘15. Pretty impressive resume considering who they’ve played. They’re going to keep getting better and better too because it doesn’t look like Humble ISD is going to build a school anytime soon to relieve the crowding from them and Summer Creek.
  19. If Texas City finishes any higher than 4th place that’s an indictment on our district. The defense is decent but they’re very one dimensional on offense and the rb they have now isn’t the game breaker McCall was. TC has some good athletes but they’re the type team that gets taken care of without much trouble in a good district. Great start for TC but those teams they’ve beaten aren’t very good, we’ll see what happens in district play.
  20. Remember, Westfield lost 56-0 to Duncanville in the D1 playoffs and Duncanville is even better this year. Westfield didn’t win their district last year and Spring looks very capable of knocking them off again this year. On average they probably have the second best defense in the Houston area behind Katy but their offense has failed them for 20+ years under the Meekins brothers and this year isn’t even one of their potent ones. As far as North Shore I’ll point out again that the last time they faced Atascocita with a first year starter they got beaten soundly 38-21 Davis’ freshman year. ‘Cita is about to go up there and beat Denton Guyer this week too. Coach Kay always gets it worked out, they started 0-3 in 2015 and then ran off 13 straight, but North Shore may not even be a top 5 team in Houston right now.
  21. Key word there being “championship”. Hopefully we can make it to another one and rectify that performance.
  22. We’re working on it. Were y’all able to figure out why your population keeps floating away?
  23. Trust me, win or lose it’s easy to sleep after the stress of a state championship game.
  24. I guess I’m looking more for how it actually backfired instead of just the semantics. Crosby chose not to play in 2010 during realignment, Vidor beat Crosby at the end of the 2011 season. If anything the game was beneficial for Crosby because it led us down the path to better coaches. Vidor’s coach was sub .500 before he beat Crosby and has been sub .500 since. I’m just trying to figure out why Vidor fans bring up a win from 10 years ago more than that fact?
  25. That’s correct. Flannigan was here and Matthews was trying to get a notable game on the schedule. Crosby admin said no and the next year they fired him for losing to Vidor in the first round. It was the greatest thing that happened to Crosby football because it got us Riordan and now Prieto. Matthews probably got an extension/raise off those wins. Since you already realize y’all haven’t don’t anything since then I won’t comment on that portion.
