I agree with everything you said. Judging from the way Nederland and PNG were able to beat their 4A-D2 opponents you would probably have to say Crosby is projected to finish no better than third in the district right now.
-
No, only the field goal was on the short field. Lol, you just said don’t say “if” and then said “if”. Y’all needed a kick return to win and we “may not have scored”. Lol, I got you though bro. Good win. We’ll see how well Crosby plays the rest of the year to see how good a team y’all actually beat.

Yes. There were some other players who dressed Friday night but were also ineligible. They will be a go if necessary Friday night though.

There's actually a video of him hitting from 60 in one of his workouts. I believe it was 47 yards he hit from easily earlier in the game. 35 yards would've been a chipshot for him. I commend coach for believing in what he had on the field though. Kid that dropped the open 4th down play is our best receiver and catches that ball 99/100 times. As long as everybody can stay upright I think you'll learn more about Crosby this week than you did last Thursday.

Humble kingwood park panthers vs New caney eagles
Cougar14.2 replied to lcm93's topic in High School Football
NC shouldn't have any problem running away with this one. As much as they give Reescano the ball you're probably going to see him get over 200 yards on the ground. NC needs to make a run this year because they next few might start to get brutal. @Lightning/Eagle I was talking to one of Porter's coaches last week and he told me NCISD is going to open West Fork High in Kingwood with freshman only next year. Forgot to ask if the sophomores in the attendance zone would be required to go there too? I expect both Porter and NC to have 6A enrollments come October realignments numbers. I see the school is on the Porter side of 59 but it's so far south that it's directly west of KP's attendance zone. Is West Fork going to pull from just Porter or both NCISD high schools, and if it's going to pull from NC High where are the kids going to come from? -
This is what the biggest issue was. When he went down before the half we thought he pulled his hamstring or did something to his ankle. Didn't realize it was cramps until he started cramping more in the second half. I think Coach P saw that and ran a very generic offense to try to protect him and keep him from having to run. You could see Cyrin rushing throws because he couldn't avoid anybody. At that point I think Coach P still thought playing with a limping Myles was better than trying to play Smith. You're right though. Can't score 17 points in the first half after you force four turnovers. Especially when you have the ball and a chance to make that 24-0/20-0. You heard the majority of the fans in our section screaming to take the three at the end of the first half but we work at refineries and revisionist history is always more accurate.

As far as the personnel Crosby will be lining up with, it's typical Manvel: Receiver: Andre Thompson - small, but extremely fast guy. Probably the next Jaylen Waddle/Jojo Earle type kid. Already holds SEC, ACC and PAC 12 offers after his freshman year. Isiah King plays on the outside and is your typical X, already hold multiple SEC and power 5 offers going into his junior year Linemen: OT Tevin Shaw goes about 6-5/285lbs and is committed to UH. Defensive tackle goes about 6-4/265 and is committed to Purdue. DE/Edge is 6-4/220 and committed to Boston College Defensive back: One safety is committed to Stanford and the other one is committed to Colorado State. I guess we get break this year since they don't have their normal shutdown corners like Trent Gordon last year? Linebacker: Justin Medlock is committed to Miami and they have a '24 kid who doesn't hold any notable offers but looks like he's going to be just as good as Brian Johnson when he was there. Running backs: Starter doesn't hold any power 5 offers but it looks like about half the Ivy League has offered him. Backup transferred from Shadow Creek last year and ran for over 1,000 yards also. He's a smaller, quicker guy who I think might actually be the most trouble for Crosby. Quarterback: He's a junior and just played a pretty much flawless game against Dickinson in his first varsity start. Completed 15 passes to 8 different receivers. Don't see any dropoff at all from that position vs last year with Gabe Larry. Very good chance you see Malik Hornsby type play out of him his next couple of years under center. Other than that though, we shouldn't have any issues.

We have a QB2. He's the one that did most of the damage against Angleton in the scrimmage. He has a beautiful stroke but he can't run like Myles. Played jv last week against New Caney but has been moved up to backup Myles this week in Manvel. Throws the deep ball like almost like Jaiden Howard did but he's about 6'/145lbs so durability is a concern.
-
Yes. Not that 17 points is a huge lead but I honestly don't remember Crosby losing any game they were up that much in. Should've comfortably beaten George Ranch in the opener last year too, offense looked just as clunky as it did in last week's opener though. Turned out well, hopefully the same happens this year?
-
Now you see why I said there’s no value for the larger school dropping down to play a smaller school. Dude is acting like they won the super bowl. In the meantime if Crosby covers a kick and wins we’re still a 20+ point underdog to Manvel. Lol, now a fg loss on a late kick return is a “complete beating”. You can tell this is a heck of a lot bigger deal for them than it is Crosby.
-
You're right, good kick return
-
Lol, whatever bro. Good kick return
-
Manvel o-line mauled a nasty Dickinson front. Their backs combined for over 200 rushing yards. QB was 15-21 for 211 with two of those being drops. Secondary was a question mark coming out of preseason camp and judging from the way we played the first game IDK how much improvement we can expect to see in a week against a better qb and receiving core. We've always ran it relatively decently on Manvel but we need to show we can consistently throw the ball down the field to keep them honest. I do feel better this year than years past that we can hold up against the run but those two backs are beasts.
-
Cool, Crosby is a joke and y'all needed a kick return at the end of the game to beat us. Really doesn't say a lot about your program said that way does it?
-
Jones was running over and dragging Carthage defenders on almost every carry from the first one. He only got the ball 14 times and averaged 7.3 per carry. That makes the bold part of the statement not even possibly true since he would've needed about 70 yards on 10 carries on one drive. Stop gassing it up bro. Hatten carried your entire team the whole night, for whatever reason Crosby decided not to give him more attention. Had he stayed on the sideline with those cramps he doesn't come back in and make those two catches that ended up in those two field goals. Myles couldn't go but he definitely would've been worth more than three had he been healthy in the second half. Again, you're bumping right now because of a kick return at the end of the game. Absolutely nothing y'all did was great, you made one special teams play at the end of the game. I really think our coverage guys were caught off guard that Helburg didn't just kick it out of the back of the endzone.
-
Dude, Surratt went for it down 17-0 on his own side of the field, that was a straight desperation move at that point. Your o-line couldn't hold up if y'all didn't go playaction, Casey was destroying y'all. What did y'all give up, like 8 sacks? Crosby's d-line was mauling y'all the first half, and when you did manage to get a couple of rushing yards we just took the ball away from the running back. If y'all couldn't throw the ball to Hatten, Carthage literally had 0 offense. I bet he had 85% of Carthage's total yards. First cramp Myles caught was on the drive at the end of the first half. He wasn't fine the whole 3rd quarter. Before he was hurt he was at least keeping the field position flipped which is why y'all had to keep driving. Lol, the only reason you hit him is because he couldn't move. I don't even remember y'all sacking him the first half. When you play three deep coverage because you're scared of getting burned it's going to be harder to get behind guys, almost every third down Carthage bailed. It's playing smart and scared at the same time. You see Crosby checked Hatten one on one the whole night. Y'all got a kick return td at the end of the game. That is literally the only difference in the contest.
-
You lose to 4A Carthage the way we did and it's kind of hard to point to what the positives are going to be against a team that will be pretty decent in 6A-D2 next year. To be fair, it Carthage doesn't run back the kick and Crosby squeaks it out I would still feel the same way. Outside of North Shore, Atascocita and Westfield, Dickinson probably has the best athletes in the Houston area on an average yearly basis and they just had to get a late score to pull it out at home against Manvel. Manvel is better than Carthage at every single position group, especially QB and RB. Without some improvement on offense it's hard to see how we keep this one close.
-
I agree for the most part. The only thing I would say about that is Manvel is going to play us straight up more like Angleton did and there should be more opportunities for the receivers to make plays down the field. Carthage played three deep all night so there was really nothing in the seams and on the post routes, those kids will be one on one against Manvel. We've also ran the ball well every outing so far this season so hopefully we can take more advantage of that. Jones looks like he may go for 1,500 if he can get the carries and stay healthy, love the way he has improved over the last couple of seasons.
-
Your defense isn't that great dude, at least it wouldn't be in 5A. It should've been 31-7 at a minimum at halftime. It was poor offensive execution on our part just like y'all feel it was poor execution on Carthage's part in the first half. Jones rushed for 102 yards on 14 carries so it's not like y'all played the run great. If Myles is healthy and can take off and run the whole game it's a different story. There was virtually no RPO game with him limping around like that. You're infatuated with trying to prove what y'all are but just needed a late game kick return to beat the #12 team in 5A-D2. We lost to Manvel by 33 points last year and still went to the D2 finals, even inside of 5A it's a whole different level of competition. In 2016 Crosby played Manvel in week 2 and lost by 14 points. The next week Manvel played North Shore and only beat them by 13 points. Not in anybody's wildest dream did they think Crosby was only one point worse than NS.
-
With at least the same 35 point spread. One thing for sure is that they want 0 smoke with Aledo
-
I get accused of hating so I was trying to be generous
-
Come on bro. Just be glad Myles was cramping and limping around the whole second half. Carthage MAY have had 50 total rushing yards tonight, kid I saw running it in that Lindale scrimmage wouldn’t have made much of a difference.
-
Both coaches were coaching to win the game. Surratt was going for it on 4th down from his own 35 yardline and instead of taking the three at the end of the first half Prieto went for it on 4th and we had an open drop. There’s always going to be the question what happens if we take the FG now but the fact still remains of the Crosby receiver makes the routine play we’re probably having a different discussion You give up a freaking kickoff return for a td at the end of the game. If the Crosby kickoff guys stay in their lanes we’re probably having a different discussion. Our qb just flat out missed, as in didn’t even see, guys behind the Carthage coverage twice. That’s not coaching. Maybe you can say Carthage double-teaming Casey which slowed him down, and us deciding to continue to single cover Hatten which allowed him to carry Carthage was a coaching, but again if the dbs get their heads around we probably get s couple more picks and are having a different discussion. Crosby’s defense outplayed Carthage’s, Carthage’s offense outplayed Crosby’s, and Carthage made one special teams play Crosby didn’t. Crosby lost the game in the third phase but all three count on the scoreboard. You take your L and try to improve. I will say it’s not disappointing to see where we’re were tonight and know we still have vast room for improvement.
-
Great game. Carthage made one more play than we did. Tough one to lose right there.
-
Lol, the kid that burned y’all on the screen for the td was the first leg. Just be glad y’all got Hatten, otherwise y’all would’ve just been shut out this half.
