I think he would be a great hire stylistically but no way you could expect near similar results. During the tenure of the last three coaches I think they’ve signed 3/4 FBS kids total? Atascocita has 3/4 FBS kids in every class on their roster. I think the 6A coaching experience itself might be more valuable though. I think BH will go to the Deer Park district and Crosby will get the North Shore/CE King district when we move to 6A but as it stands right now with the cluster of schools(probably La Porte included) in the area and the current growth rates BH could be playing Atascocita in the first round of the 6A-D2 playoffs after the next alignment. I think Stump is the best candidate possible if that scenario played out?

Idk, the best wing-T man in the Houston area might be available? Just dropped 40 on Atascocita in the 3rd round and would probably love the pay raise? He’s also made the transition smoothly from 5A-D2 to 6A-D1 .  .  .  doesn’t make a title though. Considering BH is approaching what I think is going to be the magic ~ 2,300 number for 6A they might want someone who has experience making the transition?

Man, I wouldn’t even wish that on y’all. Look at the talent it took for him to go 7-14 his first two years at Crosby. He would have no chance at BH.

I don’t think he’s a guy that fits the BH culture at all, seems like even less of a politician than the last three guys? I think a great fit for BH would be A&M Consol. coach Brendan Schmidt. Did a heck of a job at Prosper in a good district while he was outgunned and has Consol. rolling. Has done it at different places with talent comparable to what BH has in the class but no titles.

TW went 14-1 the year after Murray retired. That 16-0 team had like 5 NFL guys in it so he probably does the same. Murray gets a lot of the credit but his best coaching job was probably his 2008 title team were he came to Houston and beat a sick FB Hightower team with the 5A player of the year.

Even though some Crosby coaches think this stuff, why in the heck would you post that in a public forum? Coach P's post has almost 5k views so you know a bunch of other coaches around the state have seen it. Imagine being a 5A coach from some random area in the state and reading one of the reasons another 5A program is struggling is because "there were 11 players being recruited" on the team you've just been hired to coach? I'd imagine there's bunch of coaches around the state who read that and moved Crosby up their job list. Then you complain about resources when you're the 6th highest paid high school football coach in the 4th largest metro area in the country? 

This is what happens when you try to hire a name instead of hiring a coach who fits your personnel/community. Willis thinking Crosby High School was anything like Cedar Park or even Colleyville Heritage is all the more reason he should've never been hired in the first place. He's asking us to basically change our community to fit his style of coaching instead of adapting to what he has to work with like the previous guys.

They've lost a lot of people, and they're not "good" with is which is why a coach responded to a post a parent(me) made which had nothing to do with them.

This is why the program is currently a joke. New AD shows up and tells Crosby we need to be something we’ve never been for him to win. If someone that works for me told the that I would fire them and get someone else in there that didn’t think the job was “over valued”. Smh

Like imagine if we actually knew how to run the RPO game we tried to run against LP. 

But look for P did with that title game team, the amount of d1 talent on the field this year was greater than that year, that being said we did not have the QB play we had that year and that's a huge deal. 

Look at the last 5 years of Willis-coached QB play. All the numbers look similar no matter the player or school. Last year against our freshman team when he was being coached by BH he threw for about 325 yards and 4tds. Yeah, it's freshman but what I'm pointing out out is that is mechanics look completely different. He went from a timing and scheme system to a single-read passing game with 0 audibles no matter the coverage.

Yes alot of those were Juco transfers but that was in the Covid years when signing out of HS was tough. 

 

Missouri State and Northern Iowa are not FBS schools. Prieto only coached one kid who ended up at an FBS school and that was Ray, who's currently in the portal again. Ayden Jones is in the portal and may end up at an FBS school after a great R-F season at PV A&M this past year though. 

Will be interesting to see SV against region III personnel this week. Last year they played in region III and rounds 2-4 were one score wins before blowing out CC Vets in the semis. Watching the games it looks like Angleton is the bigger and more athletic team but I think the question is if the defense is sound enough assignment-wise to stop SV from scheming guys wide open like they have been all year? Angleton had the same advantages against College Station and CS was still able to scheme up 34 points. SV is a little lighter in personnel than CS but I think they're scheme/play-calling might be a little better.  

Crosby signees yesterday. I’ll update this after signing day in February but I think every senior that started this year besides one will sign NCAA scholarships. Crosby community still producing talent at as high a clip as ever, would still be in the golden age with a competent administration. ‘27 class may be the best ever if we can keep them together.

Not in the slightest. The teams we’re losing to are teams we used to beat the last 10+ years before the coaching change. I feel confident after watching all the teams in the region saying Prieto or Riordan would’ve had this Crosby team in the regional final this week. Prime example is y’all just beating A&M Consol. in the regional semis to make it to the 4th round. Three years ago Crosby dropped 53 on them in the 3rd round to advance in the D2 playoffs. Same schools, we just all moved up a class. 
 

Angleton scored 13 points on Crosby this year and only got the second TD because of the long kick return to open the 3rd quarter. Crosby scored 0 offensive points that game. The last time prior to Crosby playing Angleton this season we shut them out 34-0, it was 38-15 Crosby the year prior. We’re just incompetent on offense under Willis which is why Coach Prieto could go to Dayton and beat us with less than half the talent. We hadn’t lost to Dayton is 12 years. It’s ALL coaching. 

Congrats to La Porte and Angleton on cleaning out the region. Both team drew good stylistic matchups in the regional semis and took advantage of them. Angleton looked like they improved their passing game against College Station but I would probably still lean La Porte by a score. I think I would favor either of these teams over Smithson Valley but I think La Porte would have the best chance against Aledo in the title game. 

Along with other long time firsts during the two years of the Willis era, today will see some more. For the first time that I can remember in Crosby's history they will sign four FBS players in one class. Josiah Jones and Copelin Windfont will sign with UTEP, Nate O'Fleherty will sign with Air Force and Wesley Yarbrough will sign with Arizona. AJ Johnson is committed to TAMU-Kingsville while Keenan Bradley and Malik Windfont will also sign solid scholarships in February. Mix in the junior class which probably has five NCAA signees and the '27 class that may have as many as ten and it's hard to see how Willis can finish 5-6. This is the first time in 20 years that Crosby has had back to back sub .500 seasons. Keep in mind that Jerry Prieto only had ONE D1 signee during his entire tenure in Crosby and it's head-scratching to say the least. Hopefully we get something figured out before Willis wastes the next couple of years of this '27 class which has more individual talent that even the '14 class with the Walter twins and Singleton. 

I mean, you watch the game and it’s hard not to say Crosby had the bigger, more athletic team? What was drastically different is the way the two teams were coached. College Station had a dynamic offense that got the ball to eight different receivers and six different ball carriers while Crosby’s approach is the exact same as it’s been the first ten games of the year. Giving it to Yarbrough as many times possible and hoping he would break one. 
 

I will say Crosby should’ve probably had at least one and probably two more scores due to drops by our X-receiver but 5-6 is 5-6. Crosby probably had ten sophomores start at some point this season so in normal times you would say the outlook is promising but I don’t think the fact that Crosby can’t win a game from the sideline will change no matter the talent/experience/etc., we put on the field during the Willis era. He’s 21-34 his last five years with zero winning seasons, it kind of is what it is at this point. There were some bright spots this year like the overall defensive play of the team but there’s no way you can take this system/culture into 6A and expect to compete. 

13-8 final 

Crosby scored 6 offensive points against the top two teams in the district this year. Some would call it process because we finished in 3rd place. I would say it’s the reason Willis couldn’t get a reputable OC to work for him. That’s a game Crosby would’ve won in a blowout just like the previous times we played Angleton but here we are. Maybe a miracle happens in College Station next week.

 Crosby hasn’t beaten a team that finished the season over .500 during the Willis era. We’ll finish the year 5-6 for a total of 7-14 under his leadership. Crosby is the beneficiary of the weak district. Crosby had a chance to shake the current stigma and win an important district game against a squad with equal talent and lost by 46. We’ll finish in 3rd just like a lot of people thought before the season and it will look like improvement, but imagine if the UIL swapped us with Baytown Sterling? We would again be struggling to get to 2-8. 
 

Im happy for the kids and staff that get to go to the playoffs but I’m also realistic. We’re not out coaching anybody with equal talent. 

Smh, luckily we play in a weak district so Crosby will still get the opportunity to go get blown out in College Station. Our inability to coordinate anything on offense two years in against anybody with remotely decent personnel is extremely disappointing to say the least.

Winner of this game will likely get the 4th playoff spot as both will have lost or will lose to North Shore, Atascocita and Summer Creek. 

This will be the 7th time Atascocita and North Shore have played in the last four years. NS has blown 'Cita out a few times but in the games that were close relatively it was because of 'Cita's passing attack and the high level QB play that's been associated with them since Stump has taken over. Mack is a heck of a football player and the Eagle's staff must feel like he's a better RB than Tory Blaylock who's sitting on over 40 FBS offers since Mack got the bulk of the critical carries last year but I don't think he plays the QB position at as high a level as the 4/5 guys before him? I wouldn't have said it the previous three seasons but it feels like Atascocita is kind of overmatched in this one. 

Tory Blaylock may be the most highly recruited player out of the district behind Devin Sanchez but if we talking about pure RB ability I think I'm taking Kingwood RB Marquez Davis over both him and North Shore's D'andre Hardeman. I think switching to the sophomore QB has sparked Kingwood's offense but we'll see if they just played over their skis for a night in a rivalry game or if they're really a factor. Crazy stat that all four playoff teams from this district, which have been the same four, have all made it to at least the 3rd round the last three years. 

The more I look at the matchup the better I feel about Crosby's chances if both teams play their best game. Against three common district opponents Crosby has a slightly larger average margin of victory at 31ppg vs La Porte's 28.3. I don't think La Porte will be able to throw Crosby out of loading the box. LP's offense doesn't look the same without the threat of Kay on the outside. If this game is played in the box like most expect it to be I think Crosby has a more than marginal advantage with the Windfont boys and the North Shore transfer Keenan Bradley finally turning into what we thought he would be when he enrolled. Not to mention Josiah Jones on the back end playing safety at a Pickney/Perry/Kirkwood level. 

What worries me is our schizophrenic offense. My assumption is that O'Fleherty and Johnson are going to have success leaning on La Porte's d-line but there will be times that Robinson/Wheeler are going to have to make plays from the QB position and neither has show the ability to consistently do so yet. I think there may be some mitigation since LP doesn't really rush the passer outside of blitzing #1 off the edge but Crosby is still going to need to show some competency throwing the ball. 

All the games I remember Crosby playing in Deer Park have been playoff games but if memory serves me correctly we've never won in Abshier stadium. Would be nice to change that tonight.  

It's been a while since there was reason to to start a thread involving a Crosby game outside of complaining about the coaching. With both teams 4-3 on the season but coming into the game 4-0 in district play this one might be worth discussing. Teams are 1-1 since they've been in the district together with each team winning their home contest(La Porte's home game was at BH). This game will likely determine who gets to avoid a first round matchup with state ranked #6 College Station and a probably early exit. The loser of this game will still have an opportunity to finish in 2nd place and even win a share of the district championship with La Porte playing an undefeated Angleton next week and Crosby playing Angleton the week after. The district could very well end up in a three way tie for first place with Angleton, Crosby and La Porte all finishing 6-1 in district play. Fun few weeks to finish the season in 11-5A-D1

As far as the game goes it feels like a great matchup for this year's version of Crosby. La Porte's offense is run heavy and the strength of Crosby's defense is their front seven. Crosby has run the ball extremely well since district play has started, albeit against lower level competition, and based on what La Porte has shown on film personnel wise it looks like we should have continued success in that department. I think the key to the game from Crosby is getting La Porte in 3rd and 5+ situations where we can pick up stops on the run plays they'll try and some defended passes that will force punts in a potential lower scoring field position game. Crosby will also need to clean up some of the penalties and ball-handling from prior weeks if we want to give ourselves the best chance to win.
