Gonzaga is now a blue blood. If college sports goes all megaconferences, they will be included for basketball purposes, much like a UConn or Villanova.

My understanding is it came down to money. Apparently what was promised and what was delivered (or not delivered) were two separate things. My sources say there are other schools that may be following suit (as in jumping ship, maybe not to the Southland) soon. This apparently also played a part in NMSU and Sam leaving as well, both leaving their biggest rivals (Grand Canyon and SFA, respectively) in the process.

Well back to Southland immediately. The path to the dance will definitely be easier.

Having said all that, Yates not getting invited to the top 100 camp is one of the most ridiculous snubs I’ve ever seen. From what I’m told, it was politics from a butt hurt Nike team out of Houston. If so, shame on those adults who took part in it. Great kid who is easily in the top half of the top 100.

Solid list. Johnson has separated himself from the others. After more thought, I would put Yates 3rd after Holland as well. I like him better than Lewis, Johnson and Walter. I would put Tugler above those guys too. But Tre is 3rd and 4th in the country on the two biggest recruiting rankings for a reason. And he’s looking more and more like a 2024 lottery pick.

I love Wes too. But he is probably 4 or 5 in the state in this class.

That would be ideal for both if they make it worth her while. Sounds like they badly need to. Not the easiest place to get people to relocate to.

Not sure about all the area teams. Silsbee played a very tough schedule and went 0-3 but were very competitive. Lost to Carter and iSchool at the buzzer and by 9 to OD Wyatt. Jared Harris receiving a ton of buzz and offers from UT, UofH and SMU. Orangefield went 2-1. After losing a tough one to Chapel Hill by 3 in the opener (in which their top returning player, Pete Ragusa dropped 37), the Bobcats rebounded with a 31 pt win over salado and a 12 point win over Brock.
