  1. I would be more worried if the PG was back. He was the one that made them go last year. IMO, he was their best player and us media members got it right by naming him the MVP in championship game.

First off.. of course UIL ruled him eligible.  Smith was/is exceptional no doubt but Patterson has a motor like no other big I've seen in high school. The fact that he can step out and knock down 3s, pretty elite level talent.  Patterson had like 25 pts and 15 rebounds in the Champ game I think and pretty much neutralized Sterlings's big who was key to their run.  Both probably deserving of the MVP but as far as being more or less worried, Patterson presents a matchup nightmare that few in 4A can match.  Smith is a guard, Silsbee's loaded with guys to throw at a good PG.  Still not much for #1 to worry about though.

  2. Prayers for my boy Devon. Hope its minor! As for Silsbee, Shout out to coach Sigler for playing them in a tournament with real competition and making those boy better! Hate that Silsbee football lost last night, but now its basketball time! Time to prove yourself to all of the doubters! Lets go boys

Refresh me on the list of doubters?? #1 Ranking in state,  return eveyone from Regional Finals last year, addition of the best two freshman to every come through SETX, Sounds more like heavy favorite than something to prove to me and I haven't seen doubters on this message board.

  3. I'm not sure if there was an eligibility issue at Bridgeport because there seemed to be a a lot of people defending the way they went about it last year.  However, if there was, the UIL needs to rip the title and penalize the coach/school.

Even a casual fan could see that the situation allowed there was bs.  The UIL wants to put it's head in sand instead of stand up for the overwhelming majority of student athletes that it is suppose to represent.

  4. This is more about the UIL as a governing body than it is about the kid.  Being pulled up for the playoffs and going to the state tourney gettin medals seems like participation to me.  If it's not and there is no benefit for the kid or the team, why they do it? UIL is weak, always takes the easy way out. Eventually they will lose funding as they are not living up to their purpose. Congrats to the Tigers, but it will take a lot more than this to even up with what UIL ignores in Dallas and Houston.

With all due respect to Coach Haynes, this sure looks like a placeholder-type hire.  Bring in an older, respected guy to right the ship and upgrade things a bit and then try to attract someone in two or three years that will hopefully be a long-term solution.  I'm not criticizing, and that may be what the situation called for, but that is how this looks from the outside.

Seems to me like you are giving Lumberton Admin too much credit for having a long term strategy.  I don't think they look out further than the end of the week in most cases.  This is a hire that will pacify a certain contingent, for now.
