H J has very close ties with the UIL so Im sure  there will be no problems with this transfer. Their communications program is ran by some of the best in the area. Just have one problem with the kid's statement. It is loaded with I and me. Isnt parquet leaving because the ball wasnt in his hand enough

it was in his hands enough

  2. I would tend to agree with the too many on the list, football seems worse but maybe it's about the same.  I don't like that players who miss a significant portion of the district season are eligible. Maybe there is a case to be made for an injury (maybe not)  but being academically ineligible, no excuses in my opinion. Student first!!

  3. I wonder at times if we don't all lose some perspective on how competitive our area and particularly our Region is.  We beat each other up on this board (mostly in fun) but we should be thankful for the players, coaches and parents that put so much time and $$ into creating a good competetive environment.  It is frustrating to see a team like Levelland who frankly was not very good getting an opportunity to have a State Tourney experience when if they played in districts in our area they might not make the playoffs. There's no real solution and every Region will have down years from time to time  but maybe it's time to take a minute and appreciate what we have and that is quality HS sports competition that everyone should be proud of.

    Saladin had 43, and made 8 3's

And as the 3s rained down from he and his teamates we saw exactly what have seen before.. no 3 fingers tapped to the head, no airplane arms back down the court and no stirring the pot to the stands or the bench. Somehow though, he continues to find ways to keep himself motivated. It is inexplicable.

  5. Hopefully these coaches dropping out have enough integrity to go ahead and notify Coach Davis of their intent so they can have their butts replaced.  Maybe you could do that as their spokesperson. Great tourney, only got better this year.

Any HS coach that can tolerate the sort of bs they have to put up with from message boards, parents and "fans" these days for more than 5 years is GREAT in my book.

Question, was Saladin struggling and having an "off night" due to his own inabilities or did Silsbee defense have something to do with it?

Also, shouldn't a senior laden team like HJ (I believe they have 9-10 seniors on the team) believe they can compete with a youthful team like Silsbee to begin with? Experience should help that mentality.

Taking a positive from a loss is quite okay unless you keep taking those losses. Losing 14 of last 18 meetings should have HJ fans wanting more.

Who said this HJ team didn't think they could compete with Silsbee or are somehow okay with this loss? The kids on this team haven't taken all 14 of those losses and I thought there were seniors who looked completely mentally stable to me last night.

Keep talking about the youth movement over there but 51 of the 72 Silsbee points were scored by Jrs and Srs.  Grubbs, Maze, Harris, and Mackey beat HJ and if you watched the game you know when and you know how.

  7. Two very consistent programs and the games have been a joy to watch over the years.  The overall records might not match up quite the same but from a rivalry and fan's standpoint I believe it's certainly comparable to Silsbee vs Lincoln.

We tend to eat our own in this area, particularly on this message board, but there is really entertaining basketball in and around the Golden Triangle.
