How about that call by Faircloth on the double reverse play? It was 2nd and goal from the 4 and it turned into 3rd and goal from the 15. Resulted in no points. You know your not going to catch a discipline team like Nederland out of position. Thanks Brandon!

He did make the all-district team that year, I can't argue with that.
-
The best way to beat a press is with spacing and passing, not a whole lot of dribbling needed. If English could get his team to the 3rd round in the playoffs with Kirby Hanley(sp) as point guard, he can find someone in this group to do the same.

I think Nelson would open up the floor. With that lineup you presumably have 3 ball handlers in Jase, Garret, and Adrian. Though with that being said no one can handle the ball like Jaylan could and it will be tough to replace. I think that now they will for sure split with Ozen in district.
Yes he can but he needs to take care of business in the class room. At this point I trust Hebert and Ary more. Darryl Jones is another good ball handler as well. Who knows, maybe the grass want be any greener in California and Ballou returns back to play ball with his friends.
-
I thought ary was already a starter?
You are correct. He plays the 3 but could get moved to the 1 or Hebert to the 1 and Ary stay the 3. You also have Darryl Jones who can play the 3 as Ary runs the 1. There's a bunch of different combinations, I'm curious to see what English does.
-
I think they have a lot of different options. I don't know what coach English will decide but you have Ary, Hebert, Nelson, Jones and Reid.
-
Well you know what they say when ones leaves another one comes....
That must be a Beaumont thing. Doesn't happen in Nederland.
-
This is a total shock. I hope it's not true but what I'm hearing is that his mom got a new job in California. "I'm hoping she finds something better here". I know this has to be hard on him, with it being his senior year. You go from graduating with friends you've been with forever to graduating with a class you will hardly know. I understand as a parent you have to do what's best for your family. A decision like this had to be hard for the Ballou's. I wish them the best of luck. He's a great kid and will be missed.

Rules are rules. Which is why they have a hardship exception. Say you were in a foreign country trying to better your life, the school you attended shut down, and another family took you in and you enrolled in the school for which you were zoned. Again, if the DC does not grant an exception based on the situation (and an inordinate amount of whining), that will not be the last say in the matter. We will have to wait and see how it unfolds...
How do we even know the school shutdown in Atlanta? This again is hear say. It shows that Chris attended JetSet Language School in Atlanta. I did a Google search and i didn't see anything about it being closed. (I could be wrong or missed something) If the school closed down it's unfortunate and I'm glad they have a good home and school in bmt but if school is indeed still open, then that opens a whole new can of worms. Not sure how deep the UIL digs but I'm sure they will do the right thing.

In my opinion they are scouts for a reason and know what to look for. Being a good D1 recruit and being a good High School football player are two different things. And the difference is speed and size. Because in D1 it's the best of the best. Just because someone can outrun a high school defense doesn't mean they would have a chance of doing that in college.
For example, Cody Hussey in 2007 was the best high school running back I've ever watched... But he was undersized and didn't get any big time offers that I know of and ended up playing for Lamar. Still something to be proud of! But it goes to show that you've got to be big, fast, and strong to play D1...
I can't disagree with you but they do make mistakes. For example the kid from Nederland that went to UT. I think his last name was Johnson. He had the size and speed but didn't workout, Tony Brown is another that comes to mind. The kid was top ranked just based on his 40 speed but the kid can't tackle. I'm sure there is several more that fall under that same situation. It has to be a tough job to be a recruit but when the ones that don't workout they can look at there coach and say he ran a 4.4 and has size. Perhaps that's what keeps there jobs.
-
Y'all killing me... Amazing though. I asked Nederland fans, 'that kids good. Does he have any d-1 offers yet'? I kept getting no's and I don't knows. That means that he haven't garnered a lot of attention yet (kid is a senior) or he's chit as good as y'all thin he is (college recruits aspects)
Do get me wrong, I have a new found repect for the young man. He is good. And I'll know for sure who's the best all round player once I see Ozen's Tyler play one more time and I see those PN-G receivers in action...
That's where I think most scouts make there mistakes in recruiting kids. They look at there 40 time and size, when they should be looking at how a kid performs on the field. Krautz want blow you away with his 40, it's probably 4.58 or 4.6 but can flat out play the game. I personally would pick him up as a slot receiver. JMO...

The CB didn't have the angle. Was out of position. The LB was the closest to him and had the hottest pursuit. Nonetheless I knew when he got the. That no one would catch him because we were drawn to the inside... And that's how it turned out. Just sayin.
lmbo...game film of the play anyone?
-
Krautz is the best all purpose back in the district, period! He can hurt you in so many ways. By the way on that 73 yrs TD run, yes he out ran Centrals linebacker, then the DB that had the angle from the weak side. If we had a draft and I had first pick of anyone in the district. He's my first pick, just saying.

I understand the situation is strange and unfortunate for the kids from Nigeria but i would feel the same way if they just recently got a guardian that leaved in Nederland and just started living with them 2 months ago. Rules are rules and fair is fair....
-
Dove it's simple! Ozen and HJ are basketball schools. Nederland and PNG are football schools. PA Memorial is none of the above. Lol
-
Athletic purposes? That does not make sense at all.
So your telling me if Ozen would have a basketball program like Livingston or Vidor, you would of still transferred your boys there?
-
Lazeek I understand, and I agree with you. but blue saying exactly with go to school where you live, through me off. Since his kids went to ozen according to him now for education and his daughter stayed in hf for athletic purposes only
We all know his boys went to Ozen for athletic purposes, but they played JV there first year just like the 7'3" kid is going to do.
-
I was talking to a Central Graduate yesterday. He saw my PNG posters on my office wall, but he didn't want to talk about football. He was all about the basket ball and told me y'all have a boy thats 7'3 from another country..lol That is crazy. Is that true?
That is 100% true, but will most likely be ineligible for varsity this year. He is a junior. They also have a 6ft 5" transfer they came over with him. They will have one heck of a JV team.
-
I think Nederland does a pretty good job of sharing the love on offense but don't get me wrong, Krautz would be my first option all day every day. I am curious to one thing though! Why don't we utilize #13 more on offense? I watched some preseason games and was impressed with him. Very fast and good running instinct.
-
Dove, can we expect to see you at a lot of the Ned games, fully supporting the Bulldogs?
He will as long as Nederland is selling popcorn. He loves him some Nederland popcorn!

Nederland battled with Sam Houston until the last few minutes. It was a 6 point difference for most of the game then it got to 10 and Nederland started fouling. Nederland had way to many turnovers, once they clean that up they will be tough for any team.

That's what happens when you have no kicking game. Nederland was in a good position to go for it there.

Silsbee has a couple of pretty good freshmen who will definitely help out with the outside shooting.
I hope it works out but I'm sure your aware that shooting good at the middle school level doesn't always translate into good shooting at the Varsity level.

Can someone please teach these officials what pass interference is. Mayfield made a great read on Giblins pass route and then become the route runner and had perfect position on the ball. In fact Giblin pushed him in the back to prevent the int and they called it on Mayfield. Mayfield were not mad at you keep doing your thing! We will eventually come across an official who knows the rule. I hope!!!!!
