  1. Question, why didn't the "guardian" in Atlanta not enroll them in a local school in that area when the other school closed?

Just what was the situation that led them across a few states to go to school other than the school in Atlanta closing?

^ This... Can someone answer this question. I'm curious to know what happened to the kids guardian in Atlanta. Is it that easy to switch guardians?

  2. Actually the TAPPS rules that Kelly follows are similar to UIL. He was coming to Kelly because that's where his guardian wanted him. His guardian has a kid at Kelly. We couldn't get the 7'3" kid in because Kelly starts school 2 weeks before the BISD. So he was too far behind. As for the Cleveland kid, I don't think he ended up coming to Beaumont at all. Believe he is still in Cleveland. There was talk that he might come to Kelly during the summer but I believe there was going to be in issue with grades.

If his guardian has a son that goes to Kelly, then why couldn't he get him enrolled the first day of school when his son started? I am not a smart person but that doesn't make sense to me. Surely his guardian was well aware of his school being shutdown before school started.

  3. It's that devil aau again. The reason he is here is due to his aau connections. So take it however u want, he moved here for basketball reasons. Not saying central recruited him, because they didn't.  But his reason for moving to this area where basketball related.

^ This.. The young man has been in states playing on the AAU Circuit for the last 2 years. This young man will be playing college basketball somewhere regardless if he has to play one year of JV basketball. IMO that's the reason he tried getting into Kelly, there a private school no questions asked. Public school is a different story.  I also heard that this kid isn't the only new face at Central. I also heard that they got a 6 foot 5 from Cleveland who was also trying to go the Kelly! Don't know if that is true.

  4. Good point, but Nederland is returning everyone from last year and adding a couple good JV players. Ozen will also be good. I also think Central will win district but there is a chance Nederland and Ozen could possibly get them or at least make it a game but with the 7'3" recruit pretty much eliminates that chance.

  5. Yep!!

I would agree those schools are but he's just a junior. I can see him going to these type caliber of schools his senior year.  It appears someone has done a pretty good job hiding him to this point.  They will come knocking or perhaps they know of him already but the young man isn't good enough for them yet.

  6. Nope, again he could have gone to a high ranked high school and not just a simple public school in Beaumont. I think we should really give this kid and his family more props about his decision.

Central isn't a high ranked basketball school? I believe they are or at least have been the last few years. If the young man lives here with his parents then there is no issue but from what I'm hearing this is not the case. I agree with you on one thing. There are people contacting people. No doubt! This I'm sure took place sometime during summer ball.

  7. Small town atmosphere. Other than the chemo plants, its an okay place to live without major traffic problems.

Lets also add to this small town that Central has been ranked in the top 5 in state over the last 3 years.  That doesn't hurt a young man decision when trying to find a basketball school.. oops i mean a good educational school.
