Going into this game, Vidor is night and day compared to last season. We aren't banged up, we have our identity with the offense, and the defense is looking stingy as ever. Lock the gates and give 'em 48 minutes of hell, Pirates!

You nailed it. I was able to watch last year since VHS live-streamed home games (why they’re not this year is a mystery).  I think he was a Jr & is back this year (#22).  Nothing fancy, just good blocking & hard-nosed running.  Plus we were using that &#@¥€£ pistol so our offense wasn’t able to move the ball.  I hope revenge is enough to get the Pirates fired up this year.  With LCM’s improvement, we can’t afford to lose to Splendora.

Jasper just doesn’t look that good this year, all across the field on both sides of the ball. Aside from the D line, I just don’t see the level of talent they usually have. I would be more upset at the coaches for last season, taking a team that actually had a squad and doing nothing with it. I was surprised they were an easy out in the first round of the playoffs, this year I’d be surprised if they made the playoffs. Now the constant penalties and mistakes would worry me, did you have a lot of that last year also?

I remember him every time we jumped offsides last year (which was a lot 99 was out that game and the backup played bad) they would just throw a jump ball over the top of our little corners. That’s about all they had though, him and the coaches son at running back who carried the ball 57 times (idk if that’s an accurate stat but seems about right). Still enough to beat a banged up Pirate squad, this year they aren’t banged up. Revenge game, no excuses.

anyone know where I can see an accurate box score and stat lines for this game?
Jasper has got to be one of, if not the very  top of yardage list in all of 4A, possibly all classifications.
Penalty yards I am speaking of.
I have spoke of it alot the past several seasons ( "it" being the undisciplined, game changing, hoarding of yellow fabric). Coach and his staff has to by what ever means necessary get a handle on this.
it's very disheartening and a Big issue for the Bulldogs.

Yea that was the game lol BH cried but I think it was the band members losing their shoes in the mud and they were never recovered. Gone forever to shoe heaven I assume and we can’t have that happening to our band. Got us a new turf field in a hurry, kinda how we can’t play mid day home games on Saturdays anymore after the band was dropping like flies when Nederland came to town. Poor kids were fully suited and dropping left and right but somehow the Ned band were better hydrated because they endured.

Took a lot of willpower for me not to get on the MCM thread and say something, lol.  But out of respect for that great game I resisted.  For as I’m concerned, right now the Vidor rivalry is with Splendora.  I watched (again) the Hudl highlights of us losing to them last year.  Still boggles my mind.

And welcome.  Yep, since the Big Rivalry is no longer on the schedule, Vidor vs Nederland, Vidor vs Ltown can replace it.  Ned replaced Vidor with PNG.  Just hope “you know who” is sitting on the Ltown side.  😂😂

Well I respectively disagree with you because strength and conditioning has a lot to due to football success.  Orangefield isn't one of those schools that has the luxury of not having players start both ways but their intensity is the same in the 1st qtr as it is in the 4th.  AND if yall need a trailer house moved over there just come to our fieldhouse 😉

Vidor has one kid who maxed out at 640 I believe at the regional meet. That kid happens to be a pretty good DT. Not every team has that either but it’s even less common to have 2 kids squatting at least 650 on the same team. Especially one of those being a RB lol. This is at the 4A D2 level btw.

I agree and I said the same thing last year that I would like to see it happen especially with this Sr squad.  Our coaches are friendly and they like this Slot T Mafia theme but it would be an interesting game to see this years teams go at it.  Maybe we can make it a Slot T Bowl game?  Meanwhile do us a favor and avenge us by beating Livingston 😁

It is not technology. It is because there is no one there that is paid to do it.
The local news media now is almost nonexistent compared to what it was. That is from regular news to sports to whatever. You can go to any of the local media Facebook pages and see dozens or even hundreds of comments about an incident. Then someone will ask, what about the details, which way did they run, what do they look like, etc. and why wasn’t that information in there? more than likely the reason is, the story was not from a reporter. It was likely from a news release from a police department and sometime copied word for word or it is rewritten saying the same thing. A reporter probably did not show up at the scene although I do see them on rare occasion.
I have brought this up before usually in another forum. As a police officer when I used to show up at some kind of major incident (house fire, shooting, robbery, etc.) 30 years ago, once the scene was secured, one of the next steps was to set up an area for the media. They naturally wanted  to get close to the scene where they could take pictures or talk to witnesses. I could show up at a large house fire at 2 AM and within about 30 minutes I might be talking to reporters from the Beaumont Enterprise and Port Arthur News and also from the three local television stations. So I would have at least five reporters asking questions and wanting to know details. I think they used to have at least one junior reporter listening to the police and fire scanners at night. I have had a few reporters called me and tell me that they just heard something on the radio and wanted to know if it was worth showing up at the scene.
I would not be surprised if any officer that has less than 15 years of experience, has ever talked  to or even seen a reporter at a major scene. They surely would not know what I was talking about  if I walked up to one and said, where is the media area going to be.
I believe it is the same way as sports. At one time the papers had full staffs of reporters for all kinds of new stories. I would not be surprised if newspapers have lost 80% or more of their reporters.
I think the technology is what killed it. The news media no longer depends on hiring several persons to drive to locations to find out what is happening. That includes local sports. They have not completely vanished and there are still reporters but they have certainly been cut way back.
    In my opinion.
