I do NOT believe that Nederland is trying to keep up with PNG. Nederland is looking out for the best interest of the kids. And to refute your argument, advances in technology involving the education process does have an impact on state testing and measurement. I've stated my stance on this issue, and again, I feel Nederland is doing the right thing in trying to get this bond proposal passed.

I agree, teacher quality is of the utmost importance, however, providing the best environment for a student to learn, in my opinion, is a major purpose of this bond. I agree, many students have learned in portable buildings, but have you ever took time to listen to the teacher trying to create a science lab in a portable building? No matter what you say, I feel the older buildings that aren't up to par handicaps an educator in a classroom. Now, with the internet so widely used, the involvement of "smart boards", laptops, many programs designed and used by computer technology, the days of old have gone by the wayside. The technology evolution is here and we have to keep our kids abreast to the opportunities afforded to them by this design. I have a hard time that you feel that "doing it for the kids" is a cover. It SHOULD be done for the kids....FIRST and FOREMOST. The kids are our future and anything that a district can do to engage the cognitive process for the better is worth doing. Again, I applaud the good folks in Nederland for the proposal. Best of luck to you!

As an educator, myself, it DOES matter about the school buildings. In order for kids to stay at the forefront, newer buildings are needed that can contain the technology requirements, science labs, theater arts, athletics, etc. It would cost more to try to upgrade present 60 year old building with the wiring along for computer labs, etc, in the long run. I applaud Nederland for going forth with this bond proposal, and again, I stand by my statement to "do it for the kids". I agree, most folks will focus on the press box and field turf instead of the opportunities to see the educational process afforded by new buildings to help the students of Nederland excel.

They sell them at the school,at football games via pta, and also at our local market basket and other stores mostly I think that Excel in Central Mall has a wide variety of local school shirts/caps/etc. I'm glad PNG is proposing a booster club. If ran right, it's a GREAT thing to have, if not, it's a "thorn" in the flesh. :-[

Two very good recievers there. If we get the right QB to get the ball two them, they will be dangerous. I agree, these two will be game changers and dangerous. Do you know who will be the starting QB for PNG next year?

I believe there will be a spring "Fire it Up" pep rally on May 5th, from what I have heard. Gettin close ! ;D

I think everything will be just fine with PNG's booster club. Coach Faircloth, from what I understand, is a "stickler" for details and will make sure everything is in place. PNG's fan support is the best I have ever seen for a high school team, and the addition of a booster club will only make things better. Congrats on PNG and Coach Faircloth! I like the idea of PNG and Nederland alternating years playing PA Memorial. And, I hope we keep Crosby in the preseason line up as well.

I see where you are coming from, Smitty. Its ironic, that PNG got a GREAT HC, OC, and DC this year and he implemented Spring training for the Indians. And, then, Nederland decided to do this as well. I think the posters can "read" into this as they wish. And, since this IS a public opinion forum, no one should try to dictate the opinion of others. Yesireeee...it's gonna be a GREAT one this year!!! Looking forward to visiting the new Reservation...Any idea if the concession stands are gonna have an updated menu?? I'm always looking forward to good eats at a game!! ;D From the couple of games we played there last year, the menu was GREAT! A lot of new eats.....and, its a truly BEAUTIFUL stadium.....you'll like it!

My daughter is an Indianette and she said she hadn't heard anything yet, but, everybody is excited about it. I've talked to a lot of people and you can bet there will be a lot of fans at the game. Coach Faircloth is doing an outstanding job. Talking to a buddy of mine whose son plays and the son says Faircloth is working them hard, but they don't mind. The boys are coming together as a team and are excited. Man, I can't wait! PNG.........Honor...........Pride................Tradition................"Priceless"
