  1. Will Kountze be at the holiday classic in Tenaha this year?
  2. I definitely believe they could have scored all those points but a weak preseason (which is not their fault, location has more to do with that) schedule aided that. A lot of teams have the pulling players at halftime argument. I just don't see them putting up big numbers moving up a classification.
  3. Who said head and shoulders better? Carthage was a struggling team when they played Silsbee. How can u downplay a state champ? Carthage just wins. Ask 2010 Brownwood and 15 Navasota. You act as if it's an insult that I said WOS may have not gone undefeated. State titles is all that matters and you got one.
  4. No I also saw the Kennedale game. Offense is very good but like I said not elite. As for Carthage squeaking past Silsbee. Carthage folk all said the same, we could lose first round or win state. The team that played Silsbee, was always talented but not playing to their potential. I began to after that game. If i'm not mistaken I think Surratt sent them home on that monday in frustration. This is a young team that had to grow up fast. How can you call an area underwhelming who won a state title? How many well balanced teams dis WOS face?
  5. No one questions the defense but I just don't see this offense being elite enough to hang with the larger classifications.
  6. How do you know the conversation Surratt and the Kilgore coach had? Not calling you a liar but curious about the source. Sounds odd that Kilgore would care about a hard hitting team in the preseason. I can only speak for Carthage, but I doubt we will see that matchup in the regular season due to the fact that Carthage doesn't need it since the competition is stiffer in the area and they can schedule closer teams with no travel issues. I'm not convinced WOS would have went undefeated in Carthage's district. I will say this, tough preseason or not, this was going to be WOS year.
  7. I would love to see them play an East tx schedule. Not sure they would have went undefeated playing tough teams week in and week out. It takes a toll.
  8. Depth would be too big of an issue. The defense would be wore out by halftime. Now if it were a video game where you could turn off fatigue, that Defense can play with anyone in the state but even with that, the offense cannot put up the same numers fatigue or not.
  9. You can't go by like opponents. It's all about match ups. I think Gilmer would have Matched up better with you guys than Sweetwater. Yall would still be Champs but I believe Gilmer could have put a couple of scores on the board. It's all about match ups. As for Carthage / Silsbee, I just think the Dawgs have their number. Going into the game, many in Carthage knee there was a good chance we'd be airing up basketballs. That's was made this team so special. District play left a ton of question marks.
  10. Same here. Congratulations to WOS. The best defense of all time in Texas. In the day and age of the spread offenses, this is more impressive than that D field in 83. Would have loved to see them against Gilmers offense, match up would have been out of this world.
  11. This had to be my favorite Carthage team of all time.
  12. True but I'm pretty sure they improved since week 4. Never good to compare playing the same teams.
  13. If WOS wins they will be the best in 4A. I think Carthage would have a shot against them but that's more of my homerism than common sense.
  14. I agree. Would have been interesting to see China Springs linebackers vs your running game
  15. You can't go by who beat who. It's all about match ups. Lavega had just as much talent as WOS if not more last year. Would have been a helluva game and I think Lavega would have won by 7. Good luck in state thus year though.
  16. This is by far my favorite state team Carthage has had. After this year, I think the Dawgs just have yalls number. Many Carthage folk would have not been surprised if yall had won. Sure you guys noticed the lack of Carthage posters that week compared to previous years. We knew they had potential to lose the first round or go all the way. Just depended on which team showed up. Do yall think yall could have ran the table if yall had won?
  17. I'm less excited about the D2 title game now. I was looking forward to the WOS vs Gilmer offense . How many years are they set for a runa like this?
  18. Lavega still hasn't been beaten yet either. I would pay big money to see those two play. Don't know about this year yet but last year I believe Lavega was the best in 4a.
  19. Should be a good one. I have no idea what Carthage team is going to show up. I honestly don't know how to call this one.
  20. If they played to their potential yes but like i said, they haven't been so i wouldn't be surprised if Silsbee actually won.
  21. Silsbee does have a shot this year. A very good one. At their best I believe the dawgs are the best in D1. Problem is, they haven't been anywhere near their best. Predicting a tight game that can go either way.
  22. I'm indeed from carthage and if you read my whole post, you'd is that WO-S is my pick to win it in DII, but it's not guaranteed. Heck once carthage started to roll in the playoffs last year, I thought no one could beat them until Lavega came into the picture and whooped us in every aspect of the game.
  23. No not really. Just explaining why people on smoaky are replying to him.
  24. The only reason this thread is getting so many reads on smoaky is b/c of the stupidity of the post. WOS have been good for years and i was happy to see them finally get over that hump last year, but just a little amazed how one can ask this question when all they have played are extremely weaker teams. WOS is my favorite to win it all but I guarantee there are plenty of teams in the state who would put of the same numbers against those teams.
