  1. I wouldn't be shocked if Carthage was 1st or 3rd so you never know.
  2. If there wasn't much quality competition in east texas, I'm sure Surratt would be up for it but luckily we don't have to travel far at all to get tested. I would love to see that game. I've always thought the D1 champ should play the D2 champ to start out the new season.
  3. As long as there is not a "special" team in your region (i.e. 2016 WOS) and yall reload like you say you do, WOS will ALWAYS have a legit shot to get out of the region. That's been the secret to Carthage's state titles. I don't think the D1 region 3 has had a "special" team in years( maybe carthage will change that this season), therefore with all else equal, Carthage was able to fight out of the region.
  4. With the way the region is looking they have a shot to make the semis
  5. You're not winning it all with that offense. Well atleast not in region 3.
  6. Don't know much about this district but can you really judge by JV wins and losses when there are a lot of schools who put their best JV players on varsity?
  7. But SPORTS is not a requirement for graduation. So a child should be required to get a sub par education if they want to play sports? How is a home school kid who lives in the district playing sports hurting anything? Most parents are just putting education FIRST.
  8. This is the second time I've heard this argument on this thread. It's VERY possible for a school to not be good enough academically but good enough for extracurricular activity. Sports and education are two different things and I understand parents wanting the best educationally for their child. Why have kids miss out on a valuable part of life just because they want a better education. We have kids that play for us who attend a different school. If they're school doesn't offer the sport, they can play with us. P.S. when I say play for us, I mean the school I work at, not Carthage.
  9. I definitely understand the logic but I feel Surratt would find a way to put points on the board.
  10. None taken but you do realize D1 was stronger than D2 this year and Carthage one the title. I don't believe in judging by like opponents and the Silsbee game was a major wake up call for them. The talent was always immense for this team but after that game it all came together. Carthage has a knack for looking terrible and then eventually pulling out a state title. EDIT: In respect to Silsbee, I'm sure they had gotten better since that week. Honestly if WOS had played Carthage in the preseason, they would have really handed it to us but playoffs is a different story.
  11. I have my doubts. A big red and white one.
  12. Just curious, how many truly balanced offenses did they play? Meaning elite in both the run and pass.
  13. I don't see it as bragging and it's actually a cool fact. This is the time of year people come up with anything to keep the football convo going.
  14. I remember back in the 90s when Carthage was #1 team in the state. Lost 1 game and missed the playoffs. That's why I never complain about the 3 team format when they had it. The region is not too strong so WOS will probably still make it to the regional finals.
  15. Will Kountze be at the holiday classic in Tenaha this year?
  16. I definitely believe they could have scored all those points but a weak preseason (which is not their fault, location has more to do with that) schedule aided that. A lot of teams have the pulling players at halftime argument. I just don't see them putting up big numbers moving up a classification.
  17. Who said head and shoulders better? Carthage was a struggling team when they played Silsbee. How can u downplay a state champ? Carthage just wins. Ask 2010 Brownwood and 15 Navasota. You act as if it's an insult that I said WOS may have not gone undefeated. State titles is all that matters and you got one.
  18. No I also saw the Kennedale game. Offense is very good but like I said not elite. As for Carthage squeaking past Silsbee. Carthage folk all said the same, we could lose first round or win state. The team that played Silsbee, was always talented but not playing to their potential. I began to after that game. If i'm not mistaken I think Surratt sent them home on that monday in frustration. This is a young team that had to grow up fast. How can you call an area underwhelming who won a state title? How many well balanced teams dis WOS face?
  19. No one questions the defense but I just don't see this offense being elite enough to hang with the larger classifications.
  20. How do you know the conversation Surratt and the Kilgore coach had? Not calling you a liar but curious about the source. Sounds odd that Kilgore would care about a hard hitting team in the preseason. I can only speak for Carthage, but I doubt we will see that matchup in the regular season due to the fact that Carthage doesn't need it since the competition is stiffer in the area and they can schedule closer teams with no travel issues. I'm not convinced WOS would have went undefeated in Carthage's district. I will say this, tough preseason or not, this was going to be WOS year.
  21. I would love to see them play an East tx schedule. Not sure they would have went undefeated playing tough teams week in and week out. It takes a toll.
  22. Depth would be too big of an issue. The defense would be wore out by halftime. Now if it were a video game where you could turn off fatigue, that Defense can play with anyone in the state but even with that, the offense cannot put up the same numers fatigue or not.
