I don't think you can call it the upset of the year. Lumberton was undefeated, and Dayton is now 1-3. No way.
took the words right out of my mouth... it's a nice win for lumberton, and maybe a huge upset in years past, but this year it's just a minor upset (especially since it looks like dayton may only win 3 or 4 games this year)

Julie Foudy said that she wasn't sure that she'd want Hope Solo in goal behind her if she was still playing for the USWNT after the comments that Solo made about the game yesterday. Solo said that she felt she would have made the saves on Brazil goals, and that Scurry should not have been started solely on what she had done in the past. I'm inclined to agree with Hope, but i don't know if she should have said what she said. How do you feel?
this is what Hope said:

this is what Foudy said:

P.S. some people on the ESPN message boards were saying Hope was hot. This is clearly not the case... is it?

There's no doubt Central had a top notch team last year and they deserved all of the accolades that they received, but I think Lumberton were district champs last year. I'm not sure what you mean here...
he's saying that they deserved the championship over lumberton.

i only saw the first 20 minutes, but it was enough for me to have a pretty good idea how things were going to end up. as for being the worst red card in world cup history, what about mastroeni's last year against italy?

What if HJ's quarterback, running back, and fullback hadn't gotten hurt in the 8th game of the season in 2001. We started out 8-0, then lost two games by a total of 3 points and got our butts handed to us in the first round of the playoffs. we had to play our last three games with little or no contributions from a 1,000 yard rusher, a 1,500 yard rusher, and a 1,000 yard passer.

dayton 40
lumberton 13

they didn't have many seniors last year, did they?
-
my biggest concern is that the prices haven't changed for the players since the beginning of the season. now i'm trying to catch up, and i share 5 or 6 players with everyone in the league because we all have the cheapest players that are producing.
-
does anyone else feel this way? i haven't enjoyed it nearly as much as in past years.

As an HJ fan, my backside is hurting a little... of course, i did pick EC to win, but didn't think it'd be this bad. East Chambers is legit.
-
thanks for keeping us updated.

So Coop, most of the graphs are showing this thing hitting Louisiana, but an article in the Enterprise said it could come and hit us instead. What are the odds of this thing actually hitting us? I know that anything can happen, but is it a realistic possibility that we are hit again?
-
I'm rooting for HJ, but I'm thinking EC is going to pull this one out. I hope the Hawks prove me wrong.
EC 26
HJ 16

Im going to go out on a limb and say that she will pass Mia Hamm in all time goals scored for the US... She is an insane goal scorer, kind of hard to believe 40% of her goals have came of headers...
not hard for me to believe... she's queen of the amazons. i'd take her over any of the regulars in the soccer forum (including myself) in a fist fight.

EC 34-21
pretty good guess. 33-19... i was only off by a couple of missed PAT's.

no school for BISD
i was wondering... i work for bisd, and i figured they'd just have us kayak into work. praise the lord for small miracles.
-
I'm just thankful i don't play for the new braunsfels unicorns.
-
that's pretty sweet.

there was also an indoor place in longview, and it did pretty well, getting teams from tyler, marshall, and longview. i was going to school in marshall, and our college team would get a couple of squads together and we'd go play, but soccer is a lot bigger down here with tons of players from lumberton, beaumont, nederland, and pn-g, and good amounts of players from vidor, silsbee, lcm, etc.
-
i'm glad to hear that there are a couple of indoor options, but i don't know how available they will be to the average joe. i went to lamar for a year and we got a pretty good club team together, and they would let us practice indoors in one of the gyms, but i wouldn't call it an indoor field. i'm not sure what lamar has now. is the one at the lamar rec center an actual indoor soccer field, or just a gym where they let you play?
-
I've been wondering why there is no indoor soccer field in the southeast texas area. it seems to me that if there was one, it would do quite well. you figure in girl and boy leagues for every age division up to age 18, and then college leagues, coed leagues, over30 leagues, and so on, and an indoor place would make some money. on top of this, concessions, maybe some t-shirt and merchandise sales, and a small bar/restaurant, and it could be very profitable. what do ya'll think? I know i'd play in at least a couple of leagues myself.
-
i respect you, tigersvoice. if silsbee's team takes your mindset, they'll be in much better shape .
-
i'm just saying, SOME of the silsbee fans are talking like HJ will be crap, which is obviously not true. If the silsbee players take that same mentality, they're going to be in trouble.
-
i think by 2010 we should have a team capable of making it to the quarters or semis, if we can avoid playing a top 3 team before that point. that being said, we could always crap out like we did last year, especially if we continue to get the "quality" officiating that we've gotten over the past year or so.
How many more games will HJ win?

I'm curious what ya'll think... i don't know that they have anyone left on their schedule as weak as the three teams they've squeaked out wins against. I'm hoping that they come up big, but i have my doubts... someone with some firsthand knowledge give me the scoop here.
