  1. the odds are very slim. both teams will have difficult roads to get there. i think the odds are much better that neither team makes it to the 4th round than that both teams do. that being said, i would LOVE to see a rematch, and i wish both teams the best of luck in making it that deep.
  2. finally, the voice of reason! if i could give you 25 karma points, i'd give you at least 5 ;D
  3. there's nothing wrong with not being as good as dayton. they're a great team. you guys have had a heck of a year, and ya'll upset dayton as well, but that doesn't mean that ya'll are the better team. i'd probably put ya'll at three. there is no doubt in my mind (or just about anyone elses) that dayton is the best 4a school in the area. just look at what they did to pn-g and nederland. ya'll have earned your fair share of respect this year. in fact, with them putting you at #2 in this poll, they're probably giving you a little too much respect. you have to realize that just because someone is praising another team, this doesn't mean that they are trying to disrespect your team. And as for Big Mo being on your side, i would say that dayton has the advantage there as well, with a 6 game winning streak, and having outscored nederland and png a combined 103-7 the last two weeks. Ya'll lost to pn-g, and put up about half of what dayton did to nederland during the last three weeks (and didn't exactly smoke LCM). Ya'll were the better team in week one, but right now, dayton is the better team. Just my opinion, but it's an opinion probably shared by a lot of people on here.
  4. Rematch! Who wins?
  5. Newton by three touchdowns...
  6. If the rules were changed at the last second, Dayton has a legit gripe. If they weren't then they don't. It's as simple as that. I'd like to know what the meeting was about before we weigh in on this issue anymore. Also, be careful what you say on here. The admins have already said that they'll give out warnings if you say the wrong things about the wrong people, and three warnings means you're off the site.
  7. i like to see my hawks do good!
  8. you guys have been impressing me all year. i've got nothing but respect for your team and coaching staff (and most of your fans). good luck in the playoffs.
  9. your best idea in a week, mr. maverick
  10. nobody is taking away from what ya'll did in district, but if ya'll keep coming with the whole "we finally made playoffs so we deserve to have rules changed for us" attitude, then people are going to stop being happy for ya'll and start rooting against ya'll. Remember the beginning of the season when some of the lumberton fans talked so much crap that virtually everyone else in the area was hoping you guys would lose? ya'll are heading down that path again. you guys may not care too much, but when it comes to the playoffs, the only greater thing than having your whole school behind you is having the whole area behind you. a few of you are working really hard to kill off the respect that many of us have developed for your school and your fans over the past several weeks. dayton got screwed here. you can put it off as crying or being sore losers, but that's just not the case. the thing that nobody from lumberton will admit is if the same thing had just happened to ya'll, there would already have been five threads on here about it, and i have a feeling maverick would be the biggest "crybaby" of them all . And i would agree with you if that happened. This whole thing is out of our hands, though. Nothing dayton fans can say will change it back, and nothing lumberton fans can say will make it fair. I do believe that most of the people on here have been giving lumberton the due credit that they've earned. It'd be nice for some of the lumberton fans who've been posting on this thread to acknowledge the fact that, whether or not they agree with the old rule, it was very unfair to change it at this point of the season.
  11. he chose lamar over duke? duke must not have been trying too hard. of course, the fact that they were interested at all means he's must be a hell of a player.
  12. what if they all beat a dog? ;D
  13. Lumberton did not beat them all either. From what i hear it was your administration who demanded a meeting for a rules change in the first place. By the rules at the beginning of the season, Dayton does deserve to be #1. I think most of the crying is probably from dayton fans and players who were very much affected by a questionable last-second rule change that made their road in the playoffs much more difficult. Maverick, i know you're a diehard lumberton fan, and ya'll have a great team this year. I don't really think any of the dayton fans are trying to take anything away from ya'll. It's easy to say that it's no big deal when you're team gains a noticeable advantage by what happened. I don't believe you can honestly say that lumberton fans would just turn their heads and ignore it if dayton had called a last second meeting and gotten the rules changed, and this had resulted in lumberton getting screwed. It's important for dayton fans to remember that lumberton fans and players had nothing to do with this. It's also important for lumberton fans to remember that the dayton fans love their team just as much as lumberton does, and noone likes to see their kids recieve an injustice at the hands of the district the week before playoffs start.
  14. C4L, the only problem with your argument is that lumberton did not take care of business against PNG, resulting in a tri-championship, and yet they're the first seed because of a last second rule change. Lumberton may deserve the 1st spot because they won against dayton, but that's not what the rules stated (until the last second change). I have a feeling if the roles had been reversed and lumberton had been cheated out of the top spot at the last second, there would be five threads already about how lumberton got cheated, and you guys would be completely justified in being upset. To be honest, had this happened, i'd probably be making the same argument to dayton fans that i'm making right now to you. This is why you should not change rules in the middle of the season. If you get screwed because of an old rule, you can't blame anything but a lack of forsight, and then change the rule for the next season. If you get screwed by a rule change in the middle of a season, people get upset because it involves politics.
  15. i don't favor dayton or lumberton, but i would have to say this is bushleague. When something like this happens, you change the rules... for the next season. To do so now is unfair to the broncos. On top of that, the broncos are far and away the best team in the district, and i personally would like them to have the easiest start, as they are SETX's most legit chance to make a long playoff run in 4A.
  16. with the ball that dayton is playing right now, i don't know if crosby can stop them. dayton 35 crosby 17
  17. yup, but you know you'd just come home after and make 20 more posts about the game
  18. that's 5000 reasons why you need another hobby . congrats on the milestone.
  19. and quit throwing people out for beaning people!
  20. hopefully he'll get the start!
  21. one could argue that with only 5 starters, basketball teams are more likely to have all-district quality players coming off the bench. in HS soccer, if you have four quality strikers, instead of bring two off the bench, you're probably going to stick them in midfield or defense, thus ensuring you have your best players in. In basketball, you can only do so much with 4 centers. Playing time is more likely to be evenly distributed between some of the starters and subs, and it's not unlikely that some of those subs get all-district. I doubt that there were many all-district quality soccer players coming off the bench last year. i do agree with you that there are several sports honoring too many players. I'd like to see the 1st and 2nd teams consisting of the amount of players that would start a game in the sport that is being played, and then having honorable mention consisting of maybe the same amount of players honored between the 1st and 2nd teams. baseball: 9 on 1st team, 9 on 2nd, 18 honorable mention basketball: 5 on 1st team, 5 on 2nd, 10 honorable mention and so on with the other sports
  22. i say: 11 1st team all district 11 2nd team all district 15-20 honorable mention anyone winning a special award (off. mvp, def. mvp, mvp, utility player, ect.) does not take up a spot on the all district teams. it's nice to give kids awards, but it defeats the purpose if half the district gets one. what's next, 1st and 2nd team all-district substitute and jv teams?
  23. this is not a football thread.
