  1. after the year he's had, i wonder how much criticism he takes for not batting .600 with 5 hr's in the series.
  2. it at least gives us something to gauge a record by. it shows why not all 5-0's are the same.
  3. i don't know how anybody voted for vidor
  4. for me it's LCM. i'd heard all kinds of talk that they were going to be really competitive this year, and the community has rallied around the team (BOJO and whatnot), and they haven't produced like many expected.
  5. this is good stuff... it certainly backs up a lot of arguments i've seen on here in the last few weeks. also, on vidor... for a team who is traditionally not a powerhouse, i don't know that the fans should be that upset or surprised with what's going on so far this year. they've obviously played quality opponents pretty much through and through.
  6. ok, maybe not a must-win, but who wants to be a situation where they have to beat both png and dayton to make the playoffs...
  7. it's going to take more than you picking central for lumberton to win. they're going to have to play a fantastic football game, and that still may not be enough. central 35 lumberton 23 lumberton is much improved, but i think central takes this... after a loss to nederland, they're in a must-win situation...
  8. the yanks are off to a bad start tonight... boy, i sure hate to see that
  9. nope, i saw one moderator with only 200 or so posts... and why would i want your beach front property... from what i'm reading, scientists are saying if i'm patient my house in beaumont will be beachfront here pretty soon
  10. i like them both, but neither is one of my favorites. I do know i'll be rooting for the national league in the WS.
  11. It's tough to win two championships in a row, and HJ didn't do it with a dominating team last year, they did it with heart, talent, and a little luck. I don't think HJ will win another, just based on the odds. I do believe sutherland will have them ready to play again this year, and they will be competitive no matter who they are playing. they have a very realistic chance of winning district again.
  12. not this year, but they've definitely closed the gap.
  13. I know when i played football, i didn't know a single kid who did it. I also didn't know how to get them (not that i tried). I'd be surprised to find out that this is that big of a problem in high school sports. I'm sure it occurs, but not like it does at higher levels where the pressure to perform is so much greater. I'm kind of inclined to agree with the bandit. We're going to spend a lot of money to catch very few offenders.
  14. out of curiosity, how does one become a moderator on here?
  15. if the yanks had lost, and all four series ended in a sweep, would that have been the first time it had happened?
  16. he said they were average, i did not. i just asked him if we should change the name of the game. i think it's two pretty good teams that could make for a very good game.
  17. In response to West Brook being ranked higher than Nederland, that's a toss-up to me. Being in different classifications, it's tough enough to put them in the same poll... west brook would beat nederland heads up, IMO, but it's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. you have the heads of two different classes, so i just put the undefeated one on top. if someone came out with a different poll and put WB on top, i wouldn't blink. Also, in response to wrcom, i put PNG at 3 because i felt that their losses were more impressive than some of the other teams wins. i stated before that 3-5 could flipflop around pretty easily also, feel free to cut and paste and change it up to show how you feel it should be.
  18. i'm not going to rank ya'll higher based on what ya'll did last year. i know ya'll are better than your record indicates, but i tried to be fair. no way do i rank you above undefeated nederland or the brook, or lumberton, who beat you and is undefeated. PNG, Central, PAM could all be swapped around there, and maybe lumberton moved up, but i can't justify putting dayton in the top five with a 2-3 record, and no district wins against the top half of the district. that being said, there is NO doubt in my mind that dayton will be competitive the rest of the year, and is capable of beating any team in the district on any friday. if ya'll knock off some of the teams ahead of you, you'll certainly go up in my opinion, and keep in mind this is only my opinion. there were a lot of complaints about the SETX rankings, so i simply created my own. how do you see it (and please justify your response). I'll respect any educated opinion.
