2-1 loss for the states, but a good result.  they came in with 6 possible starters injured, and another one (Holden) got hurt about 30 minutes in.  US allowed a stupid PK and an unlucky deflection, but for the most part looked pretty solid in the back.  they created some good chances, and in the last 10 minutes controlled the game, creating several scoring opportunities, including the goal.  i'm pleased with a 2-1 loss to the #3 team in the world, AT their place, and with maybe 4 WC starters on the field for us against most of their likely WC starting lineup.

our area is well represented in the lower classifications this year...  i'd love to see three teams from SETX make it to state!

16 players either with mvp awards or 1st team... WAAYYYYY too many awards being given out.

any chance we can get get a scouting report on fairfield tonight that doesn't come from someone that lives in fairfield?

last night was the best i've seen the hawks play all year.  they played considerably better than the game they beat silsbee a couple of weeks ago.  if they keep it up, whoever they face the rest of the way is going to have their hands seriously full.

well, as long as HJ comes to play, i expect them to win.  they've won at least 4 (maybe 5 or 6) games against teams that would be favored against fairfield.  that being said, fairfield has made it to the regional tourney, so they're no slouch.  good luck to both teams, but hopefully we'll see another HJ/Silsbee game come saturday!
