1. i don't have a problem with them playing OR flipping.  i'd love to see HJ and Silsbee get a huge challenge right before playoffs to get their frame of mind back to competitive basketball, and away from the blowouts they've lined up in district.  that being said, i can also understand a coach wanting to flip and avoid wearing the kids out, or maybe lining up a warmup game against a lesser opponent to work on some things against a team of the caliber that they'll be playing in the first round or two.  as a fan, i'd love to watch a 3rd game between HJ and Silsbee.
 2.
What about the players, Bullets? I mean are you in agreement with them standing in a line and placing their right hands on each others shoulders? THAT is who the PNG guy that started this nonsense was talking about...the players on the floor.
if they're showing solidarity as a team, and also making some sort of gesture that shows they are still honoring the flag, i don't have a problem with it.  if they're goofing off, joking, talking, whatever, that's a different matter.
 3. HJ and Silsbee are better.  hard to blame it on their style.  I don't know if seeing something 4 times a year in a schedule of 30 games would really help 20-4A all that much to prepare.  that insane press would still be something they wouldn't get used to.  i also have to agree with nash who pointed out that both silsbee and HJ have at least 3 starters that would start at just about any school in 20-4A as well.  it may not be the case every year, but this year HJ and Silsbee would finish 1-2 in that district.  They're a combined 10-0 against that district, and 7-0 against the top-4.  with all three top teams each losing a game to 21-3A, plus Ozen getting absolutely run by HJ in a scrimmage (yes, i know they don't count), i'd say that it's pretty obvious what would happen if the two 3A teams moved up into that district.  and the only viable argument i've seen is that the more competitive 20-4A schedule would possibly give their teams an edge over HJ and Silsbee at this point, which would be a moot point had HJ and Silsbee been in that district and played the same tougher schedule.
 4. that's a valid point... but still, HJ and Silsbee are better than the teams in 20-4A, regardless.  maybe with those teams having played more meaningful games in district, if a 20-4A team was going to play HJ or Silsbee in a playoff warmup game, it might help them prepare for the competition of a tough game better than HJ or Silsbee's district has prepared them, but... If HJ and Silsbee were to play in the district WITH the 20-4A teams, the other teams wouldn't have the advantage over them of playing in a tougher district.  therefore your argument only works if Silsbee and HJ were going to play 20-4A teams at the end of the season, and i still don't think it would matter much.  Seeing as HJ and Silsbee dominated the best teams in 20-4A before district started, and both played schedules in pre-district as tough as a district schedule is in 20-4A, or tougher, I don't see why, if they were in the district already, they'd somehow struggle because they'd have a couple of tough games in a row.  it sure never seems to effect them when one or the other is marching to regionals and state every other year.

 8. HJ and Silsbee finish 1 and 2 in 20-4A, no question in my mind.  HJ is  8-0 against 20-4A this year, including a 25-point win over Nederland (by far their worst loss this year), and a double-digit win over central.  Silsbee is 2-0 against 20-4A, with a win over Ozen.  Nederland is good this year, but they have had several mediocre results against average to mediocre teams...  HJ has beaten the crap out of every team they should beat the crap out of this year, as well as several pretty good teams as well.  very few close results, even with a heavy dose of 4A oppenents in their schedule.  And Silsbee's schedule has been even tougher, with respectable results against incredibly difficult opponents.

 11. yes.  why wouldn't you.  if you don't care enough about your country to burn 1 calorie and raise your arm, find another place to live.  it's the greatest country on earth!  show a little respect when it's being honored.

 14. What a finish!

 16. it's very important.  most of these kids will never play at a level beyond their HS team, and the life lessons they take from their coach will be much more important than what they learn about the actual sport.
 17. from the girls' coach: The Lady Hawk Soccer Team faced the Hudson Lady Hornets last night at Hawk Stadium. The Lady Hawks dominated the field with a 4-1 victory. Leading the Lady Hawks offense was freshman Kat Padgett with a hat trick assisted by Tori Harbin and Maddie Holdreith. Maris Briggs also made a long run up the field to score late during the second half of play. Janie Davis, freshman starting goalkeeper collected 15 saves for the game holding the Hornets to only one goal. The Lady Hawks will travel to Diboll Friday night.

This is the world we have to live in being a part of BISD.
are you implying that it is in fact a good thing to hire basketball coaches with no basketball experience?  and that anybody who questions that is doing so simply because it's BISD, and not because it's a questionable coaching choice?
 19. watched the game, and it was a good one... decent win for Texas.  they had to beat the refs IMO as well, but i admit to being a bit biased :)
Preach On East TX bball! Some try intimidation techniques to demoralize others. It gets real old on this board when people talk about teams that they have never seen play. I don't think Boise State approached their BCS game against Oklahoma a few years ago when they were clearly the underdog, yet beat all odds and won the game. They were not afraid of their NAME only!
I think Vidor was picked a favorite in 3 games maybe this year in football and yet they went 10-3 and to the 3rd round of the playoffs. Odd's don't mean a thing.
they had a good year, but realistically, they still had no chance to make it to state.  the same holds true for our teams out of 20-4A this year.

Its all about who gets hot at the right time. There were a few teams that were said to have the REAL SHOT at making it to Austin last yr, and the only one that made it ,was not one of those ( REAL SHOT ) teams.
that's not true.  most teams who make the tournament have NO shot.  I'd say in each classification, there are maybe 10 teams with realistic shots, and maybe 10-15 with an outside shot based on whether they get hot and if they get favorable matchups.  glad to see you back, though.  finally get that hay cut?  ;D
Bullets, are saying that most teams that make the state tournament have NO shot? If so, I have to disagree with that statement. I mean you are down to just the final 4 and I have been to what will be 41 straight state tourneys and most if not all the teams there have a very descent shot of winning it all id not a great shot. It's just 2 wins away for all of them.
i got the impression that he was talking about any team that made the playoff tourney.  obviously, once they get to state, or regionals, for that matter, they have a chance.
