Heard on Mike and Mike today that in the seven Dallas losses that romo started last year he had 17 TDs and 3 INTs. I would say that he's not the problem. -
House to Appoint Special Committee for Benghazi Investigation

I guess if the National Republican Congressional Comittee is made up of rogue republicans... -
And NOTB, there's a difference between firing and NOT HIRING someone. It's a lot tougher once someone has a job and proves they can perform it. Before you hire you can use the old "there was someone else I felt was more qualified" argument.

Is this gay mafia thing a real term the right is using?

House to Appoint Special Committee for Benghazi Investigation
bullets13 replied to PN-G bamatex's topic in Political Forum
To get back on topic, I know nothing of Gowdy, but i like that this quote is attributed to him: Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy, who has been named as the chairman of a special committee to investigate Benghazi, said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Wednesday that Republicans should stop using the attacks in asks for cash. “I have never sought to raise a single penny on the backs of four murdered Americans,†he said. IMO it's in extremely poor taste that some on the far right are using Benghazi as a rallying cry to solicit donations. -
it's all good, bud. BTW, i am pro-gay rights. And while i respect these guy's rights to protest homosexuality and abortion, i also respect HGTV's right to protest their protests by not giving them a contract. It's kind of a twisted issue when you really dig into it.
-
it's a tough issue. it doesn't feel the same to me. maybe not comparing apples to oranges, but at least comparing green apples to red apples. let me put another hypothetical to you... if i am a white boss, i should not discriminate against someone because they are black in the hiring process. but that being said, shouldn't i still be alright discriminating against someone who openly supported white supremacist groups? or the same black guy, if he says he hates white people? can i then not hire him, even though it's his right to hate white people?
-
Nope, i don't. But had the show been airing on foxnews, and they were a part of Occupy Wall Street, i think the same result would've taken place. Hollywood is very liberal. It should come as no surprise that their views and actions were considered offensive by enough of the higher ups at HGTV that they lost their show.
-
because their views clearly don't align with HGTV, who then chose to let them go. HGTV's choice. Being a member of the militant right (my term for the farthest outer fringes) isn't near the positive career move that it used to be.
-
I doubt it. HGTV has a right to hire whoever they want and run which ever TV shows they want. If it was found that the brothers had their "rights" violated by this, then you and I could tape a show in Smitty's garage and then start suing networks for violating our rights by not playing it.
-
what attack from the "gay mafia"? a group reported something that was true, and then HGTV decided not to get involved with a pair of brothers who hold anti-gay rallies and lead protests outside of abortion clinics.

I didn't mention the first thing about gun laws, or give any opinion about gun laws. The only opinion i gave is that it could be beneficial to have accessible guns for teachers on campus.
-
I'm not big on the idea of teachers with holstered weapons, but to have them at hand in a place that's inaccessible to children hurts nobody and could make a huge difference if the one in a million happens and a shooting does happen. If the sandy hook principal had had a firearm, there's a possibility ZERO children may have been killed at sandy hook. And had she still be killed immediately, the outcome would've been no worse.
-
Wouldn't it feel the same if he was one of 50? I'm really struggling to follow your logic that reducing casualties wouldn't matter because there would still be casualties?
-
i've read enough of your comments throughout many topics on this board to know that if you think something is illogical, it's probably a good idea to do it. ;)
-
15 is better than 50. if there's any way at all to decrease the number of fatalities in a mass shooting, then i'm all for it. if 15 die, the 35 that are saved might want to give someone a high five at some point.
-
if you're suggesting that the shooter knew which room to go to first in order to take out the teacher that had the gun, i suppose this scenario could somehow happen. but what if there were multiple teachers with safes? they make small safes that are opened by fingerprints that are fairly inexpensive (certainly cheaper than the full-time police officer that schools cannot or will not afford). that's all it would take. and if 15 were killed before the safe were opened, which would take a matter of seconds, then there would be 50 or more killed before the police arrived on scene, so again all the more reason to have someone in place that's ready to respond, as opposed to having to wait a few minutes (city) or many minutes (country) for a law enforcement response.
-
Even a couple per campus could greatly reduce the amount of casualties in a mass shooting situation. I agree with you that a minority of teachers would want to. But even one could make a huge difference.
-
That's funny. I personally know a whole family of teachers who would all gladly carry one.
-
What about the board voting to renew the contract of someone who took a plea deal to avoid being prosecuted for overcharging the district over 3 million? And then the board voting NOT to take steps to recoup the money, even though eligible. Just normal school board politics?
-
it's funny because every expert has a different opinion. but what is it they say about opinions? they're like @**holes... everyone's got one.
-
Was listening to a couple of experts and heard that if Johnny doesn't go 4th to the browns he could drop into the 20s, unless someone wants to trade up to get up him. Curious to see what happens.
-
If someone breaks into my house, there's a good chance they're going to get shot if I'm home. I just have trouble with the idea of leaving something of value out with the intent to tempt someone into taking it, at which point you shoot and kill them.
-
TVC, this is actually a different case that just popped up. The guy left a garage door open and a purse out in there, with a baby monitor camera on inside. He apparently did it several Nights in a row, waiting for someone to come in for the easy score he'd laid out. When he saw someone go in on the monitor, he ran around the house and shot indiscriminately into the garage without warning, killing the kid inside.
