Sulphur Springs looks to have had a pretty easy road to state. Wagner’s closest playoff game was a 17-point win in the first round. They won their regional semi by 22 and their regional final by 53! How does that happen?

The refs didn’t do HJ any favors, but argyle was the better team the last 3 quarters. They dictated the pace of the game, outrebounded the hawks by a LARGE margin, and really took care of the ball. When the refs appeared to start trying to even out the foul count, HJ didn’t capitalize from the line, and Argyle kept making theirs. There’s a reason they’ve won FIVE state championships in a row. Congrats to the hawks on a heck of a season.

HJ down 39-30. Two best players now with 4 fouls, Argyle in the double bonus at 7:30 left in the 4th.

I hate to be “that guy”, but I’m getting a real good look at these “fouls” on Texan Live. All Argyle has to do is drive out of control towards the basket, get near someone, throw the ball up sideways at the basket, flail their arms, and then fall down, and they get two freethrows every time.

Not that that excuses the fact that HJ can’t rebound, which is the reason they’re losing so badly now

Far from it. HJs two best players have 7 combined fouls, and i’d make a pretty strong argument against 4 of the calls

HJ has to rebound better. Argyle missed a couple of threes that had short rebounds that went down and bounced on the floor under the basket with nobody grabbing them. The last stat I saw on the broadcast had Argyle outrebounding HJ 12-2 in the 2nd quarter

5 is really, really good, but there has been three separate times where she’s gone in the lane, thrown up a shot, and then fallen down like she’s been shot when there’s little or no contact, and a foul has been called every time

That’s 4 in a row the year after they moved up from 3A to 4A

They’ve won the last 4 state championships. They aight.
