As I have said many times, MOST people on this board are not qualified to critique the area coaches, but you are entitled to your opinion. However, coming from a guy that is from a great coaching tree, myself, I can say that he knows what he is doing. He may not do things exactly like Todd at times, but he is his own man, so that should be expected. Dare I ask, but, what are your expectations of him? He is doing a great job in succeeding Sutherland over there...I don't know what else you can possibly expect from the guy, but hey, it is your opinion.

Great coaches duplicate themselves through their assistant coaches, and in this case, Clay Davis is a near carbon copy of Coach Sutherland. He is going to and has done a great job there at HJ thus far. It is really hard succeeding a guy like that, who has the resume that he has, but Coach Davis will fill those shoes quite well. Just wait...The guy can coach.

Keep hiring football coaches to coach basketball, and you will see this more and more....

How about the UIL making West Brook go into region 2 since PA Memorial dropped to 5A??? They have to travel to Conroe, Lufkin, and The Woodlands! That really sucks for them...

I know ALL ABOUT HOUSTON, I'm FROM there....This isn't about Houston, I asked has Silsbee ever accepted any transfers, OR accepted eligibility of an older student due to circumstances that MADE THEM BETTER? That's the question...If the answer is YES, then you cannot call Bridgeport "disgraceful" because their transfers helped them to win a state title...Its either ALL or NOTHING, right? Come on now....be fair...

Bullets, I agree with you on the fact that the Houston and Dallas schools should be required to compete in 5A or 6A. That Houston Sterling team was not that good, but they were a senior laden team that had been together for a few years, but I was not impressed by them at all..

Why were they a disgrace? Because they were transfers and not "homegrown"?

Are they still celebrating a playoff win from TWO years ago in the AREA round??? Ozen makes STATE TOURNAMENT trips not just celebrate a few playoff rounds! LOL

Very average team...They are in a VERY WEAK district, BUT they are Wheatley....Meaning they are playing off of strictly tradition and the yare good at what they do...If the game is played ugly and fast, they will bury you...If you control the tempo against them you beat them by double digits. That simple.

College kids? You trying to say they were too old? Or are you trying to say they were THAT good? Because on BOTH accounts you are so WRONG! They got BLASTED in the state title game last year! They weren't that good...They got hot during the playoffs, and ran off a few games, but they were so not good at all!

Well the accomplishments are definitely different. Savaet did a really good job of upholding a program that was built and successful, whereas, English took not one but two bottom feeder programs to a more than respectable status. No they haven't won a state title, but those are not just given out either...Savaet HAS done a great job of upholding that program, yes. And although English hasn't won state or been there, he has done a hell of job as a head coach. Be fair. Just think about it and see it from an unbiased perspective and you will see what I'm saying.

They are BOTH great coaches....One has a DIFFERENT body of work and accomplishments than the other, yet they are BOTH great.
