  1. Never have seen it since I've been coaching...not even a good facemask grabbing come to think of it. When I was in H.S. we had an asst coach that would pop you in the gut, the Header always chewed this huge wad of Redman and he would literally spray you when he was chewing you out, but in all honesty, I really can't remember anything else. I think, no, I KNOW, coaches are too liability conscious these days.
  2. The University of Northern Colorado is in Greeley.
  3. My Nissan Titan was stolen from my driveway last christmas (Dec. 20th) I must live right because on Christmas eve I got a phone call from Houston PD telling me they recovered it in the parking lot at Hobby airport. Don't think that this Christmas I wasn't pulling a little extra guard duty. It's a horrible feeling to walk out of the house and see a big empty spot where your truck USED to be !
  4. Here in the Atascocita/Kingwood area the groung is completely covered and it's still falling at a pretty good rate. I'm really amazed that it's sticking like it is. Pretty cool though, snow in December, gotta love it. Now if they'll just cancel school tomorrow....
  5. Don't know who put the frame by frame pics together, but nice job. Appreciate the time & effort!
  6. I believe they are referring to Montana doing all of the scoring. If you look at the scores that you posted it shows that trend.
  7. Three way tie for the last play-off spot & Manvel comes up 2 points short in the tie breaker. Still a good year for the Mavericks in their 1st year of Varsity Football.
  8. 8 years in the U.S.M.C.,also served in Desert Storm with B Co. 1st Tank Bn.We were lead element with L Co. 3/9 for Task Force Papa Bear. Went back to coaching after my EAS. 10 November celebrated 233 years of Marine Corps history & tradition.
  9. Huffman wins and shepherd's season comes to a merciful end
  10. To say the talent level has dropped off would be an understatement...Yes, Hanks is short on coaches, this was due to High School coaching slots being tied to teaching positions at the Jr. High and I belive one was taken away at the high school as well...go figure. The ENTIRE football program in Shepherd, Texas is WINLESS this year, that means grades 7-12!! I have been coaching for 15 years and have NEVER heard of this happening before. I'm curious to know if anyone else has? I know these things run in cycles, but WOW! As I have said before, the new head coach is going to be facing the exact same issues that Hanks is facing now, so what will change? It is difficult enough to attract quality coaches to shepherd as it is. There is going to be a mass exodus of asst. coaches this spring so get ready, the coaching shortage will only continue to grow...I know the word going around now is that the current AP at the high school is next in line to be head fb coach and that would be another mistake, but that's the one thing that is consistent here. Mistake after mistake.
  11. It is true that the school board has tried to oust hanks and parents have treated him and his assistants poorly by verbally attacking them from the stands, parents complain at board meetings that certain players are not playing enough or in what they perceive to be the wrong positions. But the bottom line here is that the team has not produced, turnovers, poor execution and just poor play in general is the real reason the team is ofer. Yes, ultimately the responsibility falls on the head coach. But make no mistake about it, the school board has it out for Hanks and has not stood behind him. I can assure you that whomever they bring in next will face the same issues that hanks and his staff are facing now
  12. Yes, it'll be interesting. Homecoming games are generally less than stellar performances due to all of the festivities. St. Thomas will be looking to play better than what they did last week against Pius. They really have no place to go but up. I'll also be interested to see how Kelly's offense is without their best rb.
  13. i don't think i'd ever use manvel and tough in the same sentence, but here's what happened. manvel had like 100+ yards in penalties that pretty much killed their drives. Texas city was ahead 21-12 with 3 minutes left in the game. manvel scored with 35 seconds left, went for 2, missed. manvel onside kicked, got it and scored again on about a 15-20 yard run with 10 seconds left on the clock. they went for 2 again and missed again. I'm not really sure manvel won it as much as texas city gave it away. I'd love to see the stats on this one because texas city really didnt generate that much offense it was pretty much just field position.
  14. ok let me re-phrase it then. i saw texas city play last year and i was at the game tonight and this years team is in my opinion, not as good as the team they had last year.
  15. texas city is way down this year and this was manvel's 1st ever varsity fb victory.
  16. no problem, thanks for doing what you're doing.
  17. if the time left in the game could be given it would be really helpful. Not trying to be a smartass, just respectfully requesting.
  18. channel 55, the tube broadcast the game maybe they could hook you up. If not, contact the coaches from the 2 schools, maybe they'd be willing to do something.
