  1. IMO, Lamar would be prostituting themselves by making this jump just like ULL & ULM are having to do...Just to be able to say you're D-1?? I'd rather be 1-AA & win year in & year out. Winning is fun and fans WANT to come watch winners. Just my opinion.
  2. W.B. Ray hs in Corpus Christi used to have that same style..their colors were red & white & this was quite a few years ago.
  3. 63-7 final. Alabama pulled their starters at the beginning of the 3rd I believe.
  4. southpaugh, willis is 4-2-5 on defense all the way. They just move strong safeties around.
  5. Willis is spread on offense & 4-2-5 on defense. When the offense doesn't turn the ball over they can play with anyone. Defense has struggled at times. Willis will not travel as well as PNG in terms of fans, but then, alot of schools fall in that class.
  6. Hum398, I NEVER said willis was there...they are very young...they're junior heavy...they've never played in a big game before..the one vs. Humble was the first time for them...they'll eventually get there...they played very hard tonight and got a win. It's a huge step forward for them. I'm very well aware of their weaknesses and eventually it'll do them in, but out of 22 starters, 19 will be back next year.
  7. 46-45 final score. Willis will play PNG in Beaumont at 7pm at the Butch. Willis will be the home team.
  8. Willis WILL be the home team because PNG wants to wear their new white jerseys with their names on them.
  9. Willis will be the home team & keep underestimating Willis....I'm sure Brenham did the same with Kingwood Park.
  10. It looks like a good schedule. Lamar should be very competetive in all those games.
  11. No such thing as an "easy" playoff game...brenham SHOULD win.
  12. I doubt the coaches agree to a home & home...usually a nuetral site is chosen.
  13. There are so many things that go into making a football program. EVERY one of them is a work in progress. I understand that with the excitement of the football program coming back comes the expectations of instant gratification, but you must be realistic with what will & will not be. IT TAKES TIME, to build a winning tradition. I am not a Lamar fan, but I am a football fan. Football is what I've chosen to do for a living. I know football & I'm Telling you...IT TAKES TIME TO BUILD A GOOD SOLID PROGRAM. Every 1st down, every touchdown, every game is a positive to build on for the next, at the end of the season, the coaches will have identified what needs to be addressed, Coach Woodard will have identified any coaching issues that need to be addressed and it will all get done. The HARDEST part of all of this will be for the fans & supporters of Lamar to understand this process and exercise the patience. There's too much talent in the area and too many good coaches around that want to be part of the program for it not to. Nothing positive comes out of a bunch of people fighting amongst themselves. You've got to pull the rope in the SAME direction & either encourage each other or pull with your mouth shut.
  14. Watched Stratford play Waller & wasn't all that impressed with either.
  15. ok. great weekend of football, we were off this week so i got to cross the river & watch my buddy who is the dc for coldsprings win their game vs huffman, then watch willis vs humble. Humble 398...you were the better team today. no if's & or buts... congrats to you...i really thought willis was ready to compete with you, but no way. They graduate 8 sr & you graduate 37. MAYBE next year they can give you a better game, but today you were the better team.
