I had 3 head coaches in 4 years in Lumberton.

It doesn’t matter. Unless they find a game changer, they’ll be looking for another in a few years.

Personally, I’m not crying about it. Life will go on. But if anyone believes that there’s nothing funny going on, then stick your head back in the sand, I guess.

So increase the stipends and go get you some coaches.

1000% Agreed. The only caveat is (as you stated) they gotta hire someone who, if given the chance, can bring the program full circle. I don’t believe that will be achieved by finding a low rent guy who had “some” success in district at a 2-A school. It needs to be a guy who has experience, tough standards and thick skin.

It should be. Problem is you’ve got to look at who’s controlling the money and making the decisions. Therein lies the problem.

That is correct. Gotta start somewhere. Or they could just sit on their hands and do nothing and piss and moan about why we don’t win. Then go out and buy a new train horn and helmet decals to make everyone feel good til we have a losing season.

Say what you want. It’s not Livingston, BC or LCM. I didn’t say it was Cowboys Stadium. It’s a nice facility compared to lots of places. Regardless, my point is I’d rather spend the money on a coach rather than the fluff. The other stuff can come later.

Money talks. If I had a say in it (which I don’t), I would put up some “too good too pass” dollars for a great coach. Their weight room and field are very nice. Why spend all that money on facilities and skimp on the coach? That coach is going to get them a lot further than a turf field or 3 new sets of jerseys. That coach is going increase ticket sales too. That coach can change players, school and community. Pay the man.

No, it’s not the only qualification nor is it finite. And I should have said a head coach that has had those successes. Someone with a proven track record as a head coach. It’s not a great environment for a young coach to come prove himself. Lumberton will no doubt move up after next year. Let’s get ‘em a real deal guy that takes over and builds on what Babin has already started.

Proud of the Lions. Sucks they didn’t get out of the 1st round. I don’t get it. I can understand Splendora going bye bye, but getting upset in the 1st round by a 4th seed has gotta sting just a bit.

Rematch with Silsbee ain’t gone happen though...
