Promoting Barrow is far from giving it away,if any candidate has earned it its him & it will be a greater massive disservice to the school? Still waiting for the reasons why anyone thinks Monte Barrow is not qualified or would not be a good leader of Nederland athletics other then bs reasons.

The longer N.I.S.D. waits the more the program & kids get set back.The best applicant for the job has been coaching football & several other sports at Nederland for 23 years & even filled in as AD a few times 

If they did only have 8 applicants that is not much of a surprise. What coach would want to come to a place that has no community support to pass bonds to upgrade schools much less the athletic facilities.

If he was as good of a coach that he thinks he is then why does he never win district or advance more than a round of two in the playoffs? He has talent all over the field but can not get them to play as a TEAM.

Interesting!  Agenda's have a way of going wrong in the end.  I hope there is a majority on the board interested in doing the right thing!

Unless things changed, the job was posted on the NISD website and region 5 only... there is an agenda by several board members, will be interesting to see if they can swing it.

You didn't see the hole video . You only saw what they wanted you to see.! To harsh. And all they folks talking about this kid let me tell you all this about him doing this and that on the court just a bunch of lies. He is a great kid. Silsbee did not start the fight LCM DID. 

On Tuesday night, one of the LCM players involved tonight fell down when trying to make a move to the basketball and lost the ball.  Then he reached out from the floor and grabbed the foot of the defender who was guarding him and intentionally tripped him to the ground.  No call.  
Later in the same game, another kid who has been primarily a JV player for LCM until recently, lowered his shoulder as an opponent was cutting threw the lane and drove into him knocking him down.  Again no call.  
So let's not act like it's preposterous for LCM to have played its part in this fiasco...

But I believe 8th graders in Beaumont can choose their school. Boutee will attract them no matter what school he is at. As far as classification, Silsbee is an example if why it doesnt matter as much in basketball. Just takes 8 really strong players to get it done. If Silsbee were in 6A with their current team, they would be in the top 5 and have a legit shot at a state championship. Just thinking like a competitive coach, how sweet would it be to win ships in 5A and 6A? 

Flannigan was looking for a way out of West Brook and had been since he got there. He's been applying for nearly every decent job that comes open in this area for at least three years, including a bad GCM program. Dayton didn't release their list but I'm dang near positive he applied for that one too. BISD pays three head coaches and an athletic director, even awful programs like College Park start you out at significantly more than what Flannigan was making. He doesn't really get to make his non-district schedule, the school is isolated from other 6A's which is a travel pain, below average pay for assistants at good programs, a medaling administration and on top of all that he makes less money for it. Flannigan would've left WB for the Huffman job if it came open.      

I imagine that the process started as soon as Neumann informed them of his retirement.  Just because the job isn't posted doesn't mean that they aren't already looking at candidates. They have to post the job for at least 10 days I think, but most likely they will already have their hire ready when that time is up.

You're right if the job stays in house how fast they move is no big deal, all the off season things like camp fun (secret spring game) will keep on going, but if the job goes to outside I think the school board needs to have a special meeting and get the show on the road and not wait for the regular board meetings.

If Barrow is hired, the slow process means little cause all wheels are still in motion. If a Coach is hired from the outside, the sooner the better.

Still no solid reasons why Coach Barrow is a good candidate as anyone for Nederland job,after several people stated reasons why barrow is legit. I would love to hear the reasons like i stated a few days ago my friend "reagan" is more than welcome to pm me,text me,call me or even better meet for a burger to enlighten me on this subject on whats best for my kids & nederland, i will pick up the bill.

The defensive coordinator would be a great hire. No matter how many points they gave up, the year before they had one of the better defenses in 6a. He has done a good job in the head coaches absence and not to mention the kids love and respect him. 
 

I think the hiring "someone with head coaching experience" thing is way overrated. Would you rather have a coach with "head coaching experience" that has a 3-27 career record, or take a chance on a coordinator or assistant coach that has been part of some very successful teams. I know who I'd hire!

Hey, going from $84,297 to about$104,525 is a no brainer if that's what it's all about.  I don't believe that was all it was about but it probably helped his decision.  And unless BISD does something about their pay for head football coaches, he won't be the last one...

Ik who most of the "big name" coaches are and hey maybe one wants the Nederland job & thats all good. I also know what Barrow's career is & what he brings to the program. For some to act like he had nothing much too do with nederlands success the last 23 years or he cant handle being a head coach is a joke.

Nederland Administration....If they wanted to move swiftly on this could have already done so...Also..."If" they see it fit to require a "Masters" but do want Barrow as the Head Football Coach, then don't waste time...Do it...And allow any in house available Masters Degree Coaches (Spell/English) to come to the table if they want...We are not applying for the University of Alabama job...Lets sit down, decide the requirements and move on...Get to moving all programs forward and have New AD try and update some facilities at the same time...

No one is going to be walking around a campus like Nederland without a job posted...If a guy is doing that he sure isn't coming to coach...Maybe to work a summer grass cutting job...Come On Man...I mean if it goes in house then ok, but nobody going to be walking around campus right now with an in house guy at the top of the list without a posting...
