Timeout. I do a feature on a player each week during the season from all thre schools. Ive done one story on each so far and never leave PAM out of anything. If you cant see that im sorry. As for where exactly the story today is online ill go check now cause i know i put it in sports last night. And btw, several my favorite athletes last year were titans. Go ask torian lott, albert jacobs and rucker how many times i talked to them. Sorry for rant but to trash what i do and discredit the time i spend working with PAM is crap.

I will bring it up but there also is a lot of people not confused a bit. Honestly, and I am not saying this because I work here, I understand the two different names of the trophy and the MCM part.
Up until 1997 or 98 or 99, this game was only known as Nederland vs. Port Neches-Groves. The Mid County Madness added some flare and I love it. The same will be said about the trophy. It is only done to enhance Mid County Madness.

Ok so i do work at PA News and dont think we could ever and certainly would never even try to rename the game. This is being done to enhance this rivqlry even more. The Bum Phillips Bowl Trophy will be presented to the winner of Mid County Madness. Thats it.
The trophy is an amazing item that ensures Bum will never be forgotten. Forty years from now players can see it and ask who he was and then learn of his accomplishments.
We are making sure this will always be done in a manner that upholds the tradition of MCM and be something Bum would be proud of. The News didnt do this without first asking both schools for permission and speaking to others close Bum. The top priority is to celebrate his life and do it in a game he always remained highly interested in.
And no i will not pick a winner yet

Dauphine wont get big head and is far from attention seeker. This is a kid who never smiled when he won 200 and said i was more excited than he was.lol

The East looked better on paper and it remained that way on the field, ESPECIALLY on defense. Teel from WO-S, Stewart from Nederland, Fontenot from WO-S, Lott  from PAM, Matthews from PAM, Fentress from Woodville, Swinton from PAM were simply way too much to overcome for West on offense.
And I want to say it again, Jeremiah Rose should be proud to head to Southeastern Louisiana because they are a great school and I promise you this kid will make some D1 schools sick to their stomachs for not even showing him any interest, mainly you LU. What a shame.

And I don't mean this about any player in particular, but not every player deserves a scholarship. Hard fact to swallow but still a fact.

The Region III championship and the right to advance to Austin on the line as the #1 College Station Cougars take on #11 ranked Silsbee Tigers in a 1 game, winner advances Regional Final series TONIGHT 7:30pm at University of Houston's Cougar Field. College Station (32-6) defeated Huffman 2 games to 1 in their best of 3 series while Silsbee (24-7) took down Caldwell 2 games to 1 in their best of 3 regional semifinal series. Silsbee is the defending 3A Region III champs defeating Diboll last year in a best of 3 series with one of those games played at Cougar Field.

For the first time in over a decade im not in charge of putting together one of these teams so let me explain how i at least went about it.

First off alot of my picks were done by the eye test. You can show me a kid hit .450 but if i watched him and another player at the same position all year i could still go with another selection due to just liking how the second guy played the game and what he meant to his team. Stats show a lot but they arent everything.
Second there is not a care to me what level a kids team plays in. Mainly because the kid certainly has no say in that. I do though look at this for example (and im making this example up just to show it better) say a batter only bats .300 but was in a tough district loaded with future college pitchers is in running for mvp against a guy who hit .425 in a very weak district. Then i look at other varibles and the first could easily be my pick.

I never cared about all district picks when making my teams. Some of these all district team selections are made with agendas. I tried like i said to put who i thought were best players together. That being said, i could have been wrong but it was my thoughts. And i never made excuses for.my teams. I figure i watched enough games each year to have enough knowledge to select an honor team. Does it make it perfect? Nope

I stuck to only one selection at each position. This made it easy and if i selected 4 first team pitchers instead of just the 1 then criticism and fairness could come into play.

So basically i went with my gut, let stats only be a guide, kept it simple and didnt apologize for giving an opinion since i was paid to do so. There were plenty of times i hated to leave a kid off but in the end there cant be a ribbon for everyone and to my knowledge kids left off do not suffer any illnesses or lose scholarships.

As for as MVPs i always first go to the district champion. If that team has a clear cut stud on their team i pick them. He was best player on best team. If no clear stud on title team then i might look around and find who was best player around but 95% of time it was best teams best player
Gary does a great job so when i saw that list i know he put it out with at least knowing what hes talking about.

I never will buy into question if Nederland is scared. They usually play arguably the most physical team in area, west orange stark

He went up and got that one on the sideline. Hes got the build of a wr thats for sure. No doubt he will have an impact but like you said, keep working.

The first team defense looked beyond great.
Martin and Dauphine didnt play but the backup runners looked good and proved Titans have backfield depth. Titans need couple of WRs to come around. PAM graduates great receiving corp.
Harrison and Levine both were good at qb. Levine had an Int on defense.
