1. Tenaha 74 @ Wortham 0, running clock in 2nd half. I don't think Wortham had a 1st down. This is the 5th game that Tenaha's opponents have been held to 3 or less 1st downs.
2. I was wondering why one of the very best 2A teams in the state, Tenaha, is not included in your poll? After 5 games they've allowed a total of 12 first downs, less than 300 yds of total offense, 24 points with 3 shutouts. They just took West Sabine to the woodshed 43-12 and it could've been a lot worse. Lovelady is the only team that may be able to stay on the field with them, maybe! Tenaha has 4 running backs that can play for anyone. Just wondering?
3. Sb 573 sponsored by Dan Patrick Houston. co sponsored Donna Campbell of New Braunsfel THSCA LEGISLATIVE ALERT Texas Private Schools Petition the State Legislature for Admittance to the U.I.L. S.B. 573, by Dan Patrick of Houston relates to the participation of private schools in U.I.L. sponsored activities. If passed the language in this bill would destroy a level playing field for our public schools and the children they serve. This would affect athletics, academics, music and fine arts in all classifications. On Tuesday, March 12, S.B. 573 passed through the Senate Education Committee. Because the next step in this process will be to submit the bill on the Senate Floor for a vote, it is especially important that we voice our opposition to S.B. 573 as soon as possible. We need your help to contact our State Senators and Representatives to show a strong opposition to opening the U.I.L. membership to private schools!!! We are asking each of you to use the following bullet points and contact your Senators and Representatives to express your opposition to S.B. 573. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ALL FRIENDS OF PUBLIC SCHOOL ATHLETICS. Bullet points in opposition to Private School Membership in all U.I.L. Activities: Private schools must recruit to exist. (Impossible to comply with recruiting rules because recruiting is critical to their very existence.) Private schools do not have to admit all children. (Public schools are required to take all comers: learning disabled, behaviorally disabled and physically disabled; private schools are able to create a select environment.) Private schools do not comply with the parent residence boundaries that public schools do. (How do you solve the issue of boundaries with private schools?) Academic standards are not mandated by statute, while public schools are heavily regulated. Private schools control the number of students who attend and would control their U.I.L. classification, while a public school cannot. (The smaller the classification the greater the impact of private schools.) Private schools have an unfair competitive advantage in that they have a unique situation -- they can establish a select environment. We are writing to ask for your help! It is imperative that we contact our State Representatives and strongly oppose opening the U.I.L. membership to private schools. Many have asked, "What can I do to help?" There are two things you can do. First, you need to contact your State Legislators. We have tried to make it as easy as we can for you. AssistantCoach Systems has donated a website tool to make it easy for anyone in Texas to send emails to their State Representative. We urge you to go to this website now and spend 2 minutes to add your name to the list of those who oppose the legislation. You can get to this tool by clicking HERE! [Hidden Content] This website also allows you to view the bill and it's impact. You can also act by calling your Representative and/or sending a handwritten note. We have provided a list of the Senate Education Committee and House Committee on Public Education below. You can also click on the links below or visit the THSCA website for a complete list of Legislators and their contact information. A phone call is the most effective way to voice your opposition. Lastly, we need to bring this Legislation to the attention of as many people as we possibly can and encourage them to contact their Legislators. Please forward this email to all friends of high school athletics and encourage them to voice their opinions. It is critical to act immediately, the quicker that you respond, the better! 5.
Saw both games last night  kountze is insanely quick and fast. White oak not flashy but are deadly from outside. I am picking kountze by 7. Ps. Out of both games I was most impressed with tenaha. They played well considering a week ago they were still wearing pads
According to the Tiger's Scott Tyner, Tenaha's first practice of the season will be on Monday.
6. HOUSTON — Tenaha used big plays and a stubborn defense to beat Falls City 42-14 in Friday's Class A Division II semifinal game Friday night at the Berry Center. The Tigers will take a 10-4 record into Thursday's state championship game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Falls City (10-3) dominated time of possession but had trouble converting its drives into scores and was held scoreless until late in the third quarter. Teneha needed just two plays to go ahead 14-0 in the second quarter. Up first was a 92-yard touchdown pass from quarterback J.R. Hill to Keontas Davis with 7:46 left in the first half. Just more than five minutes later, the Tigers took possession at their own 18 after a Beavers' punt. They needed just one play to score on an 82-yard burst up the middle by Kobe Caraway. Falls City was fortunate to be trailing by only two touchdowns at halftime as Teneha came up empty on three other possessions inside the Beavers' 20. The second half was all about field position and who used it the best. Falls City finally scored on a 3-yard run by Jon Swierc in the third quarter, completing an 11-play, 53-yard drive. In the fourth period, the Beavers faltered twice on fourth down at their own 31, and Tenaha responded after both stops with touchdown drives. A 43-yard pass from Cameron Soto to Dean Gaskamp in the fourth quarter was the only big play of the night for Falls City. It set up Soto's 1-yard scoring run with 8:40 left. But the second score proved to be too little, too late for the Beavers, who managed just 280 total yards and committed three turnovers. The Tigers did most of their damage on the ground, with Caraway, Hill and Chavis Gregory combining for 285 yards. Hill also threw for 186 yards and two scores. Falls City gave the ball up on downs four times and punted twice. Tenaha did not have to punt and turned the ball over on downs three times. The Tigers also had one turnover. 8. Tenaha beats a very good Bremond team 38 - 7, the Tigers finally have everyone healthy and are on a roll. They forced 6 turnovers, 2 of which went for TDs. Mt E lost to Frost 38 - 14. Tenaha meets Frost next Friday in Van
9. Mt E has beaten Lovelady (40-7) and Maud (46-28) in the playoffs so far. Tenaha had a 1st round bye and beat Overton (42-8) last weekend in the area round. Evadale was one and done losing to Bremond 47-6. This Friday night Mt E plays Frost in Teague, while Tenaha takes on Bremond in Crockett. Both games should be real "slobber knockers". I'm picking Tenaha and MT E to win their region and meet in the quarterfinals.
