After calling the game and seeing them in person courtside.  This team is really, really, good.  They have it all, Size, Athletic, with a calm demeanor.  No panic at all from this team in the 3 games I've seen. They have a quiet confidence that I think will help in the long run.

Ima keep saying this until im blue in the face. The ONLY way you are beating BU is to have an Elite guard that will not turn the ball over and a big that can get rebounds so BU doesn't get 3 and for offensive rebounds on possessions. You must have less than 15 turnovers. I counted 33 turnovers for nederland last night and that was with the slowed 2nd qtr. Griggs (Hightower) and A&M commit Wade Taylor (Lancaster) are the only 2 guards I know of in 5A that can keep their team under 15 turnovers in the state. RIGHT NOW

In fairness, BU is a matchup nightmare for almost anyone who laces em up against them.  I agree with most on here - if Nederland keeps it within 20 that will be a surprise.  And that is no slight at all towards the Bulldogs.  They could be a 2-3 playoff win team and still get manhandled by United.  Just a beast of a team. 

When I called the New Caney/Nederland game, which came down to the last 5 min.  The Dogs had a hard time with the Press.  That, combined with the size difference, will be the deathnail for Ned.  I think this gets ugly, BU had two players that usually shoot the 3 well go 20% from 3 vs a good Crosby team, and still won by 16.  BU is on another level compared to Ned.  That being said, I hope I am wrong and it stays close.  I'll be on the call tonight on TexanLive.com

Coach will have Yoakum prepared to ground and pound and use the clock to his advantage. It will be very simple: EC stops the run and gets off the field on 3rd downs it will be an easy win. If Yoakum gets momentum in the run game and finds a weakness in a certain area of the line, it will be a very close game. 
 
With that said, EC is better prepared to stop the run than a potent passing attack imo. EC by 21.

Yeah if we don't take them seriously we could be wishing we did. Just have to play our game.

Yes I notice that the defense end (#19 if I remember correct) crash down every play and that will hurt them. 

Just watched some film on Yokum vs Columbus and Hallettsville. They lost both games but they have two running backs (4 and 7) that can run the ball. The offensive line blocks very well and has their heads under defense line push them back. The QB ran the ball very little and had good arm. Receiver's made some good catches. Overall I think this will be the best team EC has faced this year for sure. I Think EC's linebackers better have a good game # 4 had good size and fast, # 7 didn't have size but was faster and pick his holes very well. Will definitely be a good test for EC. 

I have watched this team for the last two years and have watched a ton of deep playoff runs from Texas programs in my life.  The speed that EC has is not 3A Speed EC3 Reminds me of watching Trey Williams in Dekaney HS (Spring) back in 2010.  Sometimes there is just a player that is better than anyone on the filed and it is not often that player is 5 Foot 7.  Some small college is going to get a heck of a CB and not give EC3 a chance at RB.

Being that 5a and 6a are still playing district ballgames, finding normal playoff venues is going to be tough.

Ok I have been lurking for sometime and am fairly knew to the Winnie area.  My job transfers me about every 4 years so my kids know what it is like to have to change schools.  But when I got transferred to Port Arthur my wife and I decided that the best school for our kids was East Chambers  When you work in the plants or in a town that works near the plants you will have a better choice of athletes than if you are in the middle of the piney woods it is simple economics people move from places without jobs to places with jobs.  To think that a high school team has to have the same genepool for 50 years is just insane.     
My wife and I both grew up in Big Football towns of the 90's Freer and Refugio respectively and have fallen for this East Chambers Team.  First I have met some of these kids and the way you talk about these kids here is disrespectful.  That kid you are mad is faster than your team is one of the most respectful and liked kid in the high school.  The kid they had at Quarterback last year who broke his ankle against HF was the same.  I have seen this QB now grow from a Freshman that fought like hell against Grandview and had them on the ropes in the first half.  These kids wont be kids for long and it sounds like some of you need to stop being miserable and enjoy the gift that is Texas Football.  Trust me I have been all over and nothing beats 2A-4A Texas football.  To say that EC has not played anybody is not fair either.  They beat 3 4A schools in a row schools that have enrollment almost 50% higher.  Are you a coach?  Do you know how hard it is to schedule someone pre-district when you are a good team.  They had West Rusk on the schedule who is probably a better team that than anyone in the district but that was cancelled due to a hurricane.  A good portion of these kids are also still living in houses that had damage from the horrible flood last two years in Winnie.  Be the bigger man and just enjoy this team.  This Coach is not like some Coaches that will purposely run up the score.  Buna if you are mad stop them from scoring.  I mean the second team offence was in half of the game.  How is this fair to East Chambers they will have to be prepared to play full games in the playoffs.  Do you think the coach in Refugio who had a National stroy written about him takes his players out?  Does he go to State year after Year?        And I am just a Band Parent

I’m not saying EC isn’t good, But when HJ is the toughest team you have played that’s a pretty mild schedule. HJ will make the playoffs as the 3rd or 4th seed and probably lose the first round . I’m just ready to watch EC vs a team that’s gonna challenge them.

I just wanna see them vs a good team. They haven’t played one this year. That’s not taking anything away from them. They just haven’t been challenged at all.
