I stated in our pregame that I thought Turner could exploit the Sweeny defense and have great success. He made me look like a smart man for a change. lol

A few stats from the game. Sweeny rushing: 46/269 yards 2 TD's passing: 0-3, INT total: 49 plays/269 yards WO-S rushing: 27/387 yards 5 TD's passing: 6-11, 62 yards, TD total: 38 plays/449 yards Sweeny's Jones had 130 yards rushing, TD WO-S's Marcus Turner had 214 yards rushing, 3 TD's, (276 total yards of offense, 4 TD's)

Certainly not Madisonville again. I highly doubt La Vega wants to go back there. Bad mojo.

Kingwood playing in this tourney.

After watching film on Sweeny, Mustangs will definitely have to prepare to stop the run. Sweeny runs the single/double wing. Run the ball 85-90% of the offensive snaps. They have a really good RB in #7. Has over 1700 yards rushing and 20+ TD's. They can throw out of this set but mostly to the TE or Wing. WO-S will have to put 9 in the box and dare the Bulldogs to throw the ball. I don't see Sweeny doing well defensively against the Mustang offense. They run the 50 as well but their three down lineman are not that physical. Slow as well. I see Turner and Jefferson having lot's of success tonight. One thing I did learn was that Sweeny losing to Wharton in the last game of season actually cost them the district title. Had they won that game they most likely get the #1 seed. Sweeny is the only team in district that beat the district champ Columbia. So they basically went from #1 seed to #3 seed with that loss.

Back on topic. I am curious as to how La Marque will defend HF. From film I have seen they run the 3-3-5. They got some speed so I am curious if they will bring heat and play man or sit in a zone? The old La Marque (yes I know those days are long gone) would come with pressure off the edges and rely on man coverage, particularly against teams that don't run the ball very well.

Wasn't able to get down there for this one. I wanted to. HF still missing some pieces from football and their best player (Seastrunk) transferred out a couple of weeks ago.
