Correct. For a student to be able to play UIL sports for the school they are attending, they will HAVE to establish residency within that school district. Doesn't matter if it's open enrollment or not.

Schools that have open enrollment can charge outside district residents a tuition fee to attend their school. Now if you choose to move into the school district, there is no fee.

Channel 6 is being misleading with this news article. These are recommendations, not law, like what Channel 6 is inferring. Only thing required is the cooling stations for outside practices. I have had a coach message me about this and he spoke personally with Dr. Harrison. He says the cooling stations are the only thing that's required. This other stuff is just recommendations.
