Speaking of Desmond Doss, he is the only athlete out of Silsbee that was named MVP of the district in both football and basketball. Great athlete!

Esker Boykin, '5"7 dunk artist. He was the Spud Webb before there was a Spud Webb. He and William Coffey ruled their district for a few years.

As far as the local media coverage is concerned, I'll tell you what was told to me " We cover what sales, the boys have more selling points than the girls". I will say that Channel 6 does give girls scores more often than the other stations do. As far as the interest, the boys definetly have more than the girls. You can only name a couple of girls basketball programs around our area that draws more than their boys program. That's not enough to consider having more coverage.

Jeremy Johnson, Silsbee '6"2 185 4.5 Has passed for over 3,600 yards and rushed for over 1,500 yards with a combined total td's of 50 in his first 2 years of varsity ball. I think he'll have a great season next year, his senior year. Has 21 varsity starts heading into next season.

If you don't want football talk then shut down the football threads until it's football season again. Man for some reason your comment hit a nerve with me. So as I understand your comment we are only supposed to post on the threads that are in season? You totally missed my point. I do not want you to stop with the football talk but also talk over in the basketball forum in support of your basketball team. It's funny that as soon as football season is over with, the WOS posters seem to disappear. WOS does play other sports besides football. I think those guys should get the support from the Mustang fans as well. I believe Zach deserves some support, he has done a good job with the basketball team. The lack of discussion from WOS fans in the other forums just goes to prove what most folks think, that WOS is all about football and nothing else.

Well, my point is that you guys should be over in the basketball forum talking up the Mustang basketball team. Football is over.

Buna playing in round rock in 08 = confidence. 3 years ago...Hardin Jefferson had a pretty dang good baseball team, kirbyville doesn't when Buna was playing in 3a before they dropped..they werent that good. Now, they are. they have a totally different team with totally different players. dont forget they beat 3 teams in your district last year. I wish kirbyville good luck next year...but just because you drop down doesn't mean you'll win it all. HJ finished in a tie for 3rd that year with Silsbee. And last year Buna only beat 2 3a teams in that district, barley beat Silsbee (4 -3) and HF (3-2). what did they finish in that district?? 4th and 5th. You did play HJ lost (6 - 1) and Jasper 2 times and lost both, (8 -0) and (4-0), what did Jasper finish that district? 3rd This just shows the difference between 2A and 3A when a state 2a team can't put a run up on a third place 3a team. Sorry i was counting the orangefield scrimmage. most 3a teams in texas would have had trouble getting into the playoffs in that district. All 3 playoff teams in that district were ranked in state last season! It would have been a challenge for Buna to make the playoffs in that district yes..but they would have fought their darndest to do it. and even if its by one run..a win is a win. and Buna was up 3-0 on HF...when a ground ball hit the bag and shot about 20 feet in the air into shallow right field...allowing 2 runs to score. and if you really want to get technical...these are last years scores against teams in your district we both faced... They are disciplined and well coached...they showed people all last year what happens when you underestimate teams! 1a-5a...coach Terrier stresses the importance of playing like there's no tomorrow and not letting up! Just one reason they earned the nickname last year, "cardiac cougs" good luck to kville this next season.. i wish you well, but if Buna and The Ville meet up...ill be pulling for my coogs. hitman009, looks like THE FAN trumps you. Buna obviously fared better against Jasper, Silsbee and HF. Kirbyville couldn't even stay in the same park with these guys. Buna beats Kirbyville easily.
