Dallas Madison has to go to overtime to beat a team that had to go to overtime to beat HJ. If HJ shoots better from the freethrow line or cuts down on their uncharacteristic high number of turnovers, they beat LE. In some eyes, including mine, HJ wasn't the "best" team in Region III but they did what no other team in 3A did, beat 3 ranked teams to get to Austin. They were more than deserving of representing Region III in Austin. Dicky, you can argue that Region I or II has the best "team" as in singular, the last 10 years or so, but not the best Region as a whole.

and all this time Slocum and Desoto wins state championships. I believe I got the better deal out of these two.

Kountze is now 2A, but I will give them that...TWO finals appearances in ten years means your region is not very strong. No it doesn't....It would have been worse! Region 3-3A Is just not that good....One finals APPEARANCE in the last ten years speaks volumes, no matter how much you guys try to pump up this region in 3A...Its just not that good. I would agree that the top 2 to 3 teams in Regions I and II are always great teams. But for overall depth, and I am talking about 10 or more teams, I think Region III takes a backseat to no one. HJ and Silsbee would NOT have made the region I or II regional tourneys...Region III in 4A and 5A is VERY deep....In 3A, not so. HJ, Silsbee, maybe Jasper, and thats a stretch. You are wrong. I saw Liberty Hill, who was a region I semifinalist, they were no better than HJ or Silsbee. Also the team that Estacado beat in the regional finals, Seminole, lost to Estacado by 34 points!! Now Burkburnett is good, even though they lost to Estacado in the regional semis by 14. But HJ, Silsbee, Cleveland and Navasota are just as good. As for Region II, I would admit that Madison, Argyle, Pleasant Grove and maybe Princeton are top notch, but I feel that after those teams, it drops off fairly well. I think HJ or Silsbee could be a regional team in Region II but I will admit, it would be tough.

Dicky, I did not say you weren't qualified. I just took issue with you saying you maybe more qualified than Travis and Duane. That's all.

You are such a hater....I spoke to Marquis on Wednesday and HE did not even know the job was posted. He said "your guess is as good as mine is". WOW....I wonder what happened....I have no idea at this point.....BTW, I am just as qualified to run that program as anybody that was mentioned...Maybe MORE....I will find out what exactly is going on. Some of you Silsbee fans are forgetting about one key player, Prentice Lane. I can see Petey being a top scorer for the Tigers next season.

I'll just sum up the Hawks loss by simply stating, too many turnovers, too many missed freethrows. HJ should have won this one. I will say, I was very impressed with the soph. pg for Estacado, Kevin Wagner. He was the difference down the stretch.

In my humble opinion, and I am no "expert", but I believe Silsbee would have matched up well against Estacado and are very capable of beating that team. On the other hand, I am afraid that the Tigers would not have fared well against both Madison and Stafford. Silsbee would lose to both those teams in my opinion. I think Madison is the best team out of the 4 here in Austin.

Well, since you asked, way more than what Central has done in 4A. In the 5 years that Silsbee has been in 3A, they have reached the regional tourney 4 out of those 5 years. Three times to the regional finals and a trip to Austin. Other than this year when they were upset by Jasper in the regional semis, those first 4 years the regional winner had to go through Silsbee. The last 2 years, not counting this year, they were knocked out by the eventual state champion, '07 to HJ in regional finals, '08 to Kennedale in state semifinals. So, it hasn't just been this season that the Tigers have had success here of late. Yes, 4A playoffs are tough, but give us another 600 kids to choose from on top of the 800 we have now, and I am quite sure we can do just as well or even better than what Central has done lately.

But give AAW more credit because Bluedove actually thinks Hamshire Fannett is going to be a force in BASKETBALL in the future.. ;D I am hesitant to go there because a lot of other "predictions" recently have backfired Oh that hurt. :-[ But the truth does hurt from time to time. :'( I did win the pickem contest. ;D

I admit Stafford is a very good team, but this is the same team Silsbee had their way with last year in the Area round. I believe Stafford benefited from the realignment by getting moved to Region IV from Region III. I year can make a big difference (sometimes even less than a year >) but I am not sold on this team just yet.
