1. [Hidden Content] Personally, I think it makes Silsbee a better team if Reed can be the starting QB. This will allow Drake to be a starting receiver and safety, where the Tigers really need him.
 2.
I stand corrected then.
I stated that Coach Brooks and Coach Collins were paraprofessionals a few posts back. ::)
 3.
The coaching part would have nothing to do with it. It's that an uncertified person is teaching where an certified person could be teaching. Now with all that being said I think Ira is the best for the job. But it should be done rt.
Ira has not been "teaching". He has been a paraprofessional. All schools have paraprofessionals. They are not required to be certified.
 4.
Ur rt speechless, and it's called foul play
How is it foul play if no rules have been broken?
 5.

There are lots of capacities in which a person can be at a school for many years and not be certified or even degreed.  The only rule for coaching at a school in Texas is that you are a full time employee of the school.  The rules change for head coaching positions of major sports.  That is where the certification issue comes in but there is no time table when it comes to coaching....the time tables deal only with teaching.
And you have to be certified to be a head coach in Texas.
Correct. That is why Coach Mackey will be the interim head coach.
Exactly. Thanks for clearing that up, speechless. Ira and James have been paraprofessionals in the district for many years and have done a great job. Ira has been my youngest son (who has autism) para and James will be his para this coming school year. All do a fantastic job.
Hmmmm. A 3a boys sub-varsity basketball coach very well respected across the entire state of Texas. I went to college with a local 4a freshman boys coach and he's not gotten his "state-wide repect" badge yet he is certified & has been teaching and coaching for 11 years. I suspect foul play!
Please explain.
Freshman & JV coaches are not typically well known much less well respected across the state. Thats all
No, please explain your "foul play" remark.

A guard.
No, he is a post man and I am going to predict that this year, as a sophomore, he will be the best post player in the area.
Could be, he will be a good one. LCM, Ozen, Hamshire-Fannett and PAM will have some good ones too.

 12.
I called it again, give title to someone else, and let ira coach. Silsbee now has to hope he can pass a test as soon as possible. A test he had failed to pass for ( I have no idea ) more than the time aloud at a school for sure.  I have seen shady things, but this is one is rt there up with any other.
Ira just got his degree this past December. Now he has to work on his certification. Not sure what you are speaking of in regards to his taking a test and having more time than allowed.
 13.
Wow!  Sounds like a head football coach / AD trying to kill a successful basketball program. Mackey may be a great basketball coach, but having a varsity football coordinator coach basketball is a bad idea.  If the football team make any kind is playoff run the basketball program will be on the back burner.  Plus basketball practice starts before the end of football.  Where will his commitment be?  Definitely not fair to the basketball program.
Coach Brooks and Coach Collins will take care of business until football is over. This will be most likely a joint effort in regards of the coaching. Also, about 85% of the varsity basketball team plays varsity football. So, basketball may not start until football is over. ;)
 14.
A football coach with no head bb coaching experience for an elite program?   ???
This is most likely a one year interim basis. Kyle Mackey is a quality coach, both in football and basketball. Kyle Mackey, Ira Brooks and James Collins will do a great job as a staff. Most folks do not know, Coach Mackey's first love is basketball and that's how he got to college, via a basketball scholarship. Just so happened that he could play football very well, enough to play quarterback in the NFL.
If Dishon plays. Heard he was considering just playing baseball.
Sorry AAW and Silsbee faithful, No such luck!! Dishon will be back in football pads.
I am glad that he is playing. That would have been a sad waste of football talent.
 16. Board meeting tonight and it is expected that Kyle Mackey, Silsbee Offensive Co., will be named interim head basketball coach. Details coming soon!

I am not aware of WOS playing Bay City in those years in the basketball playoffs.
I'm not sure if they did or not either. I just remember a local team played Bay City ( in the mid-late 80's) led by LaBradford Smith, and both teams stalled the entire game. The final score was extremely low. I don't think either team scored more than 29 points.
The scores in those '85 and '86 games with Bay City and Silsbee were in the 60's. I do believe the game you are referring to was a PA Lincoln vs. Bay City game in '86.

 19.
Even if they did, it is pretty obvious that it was a mistake made by a young head coach in his first year of head coaching.  What I find repulsive is you posting this and raising the question.  If you truly had the best interests of all setx football players in mind, you wouldn't have posted this in such as way as to draw attention to this very minor infraction.  As I suspected, you are one who enjoys stirring the pot and seeing what kind of trouble you can start.  Hence why you are always talking about "things you hear" but never divulging any information.  I just lost a lot of respect for you Mike.  Posts are removed regularly from this board for bashing players.  People are banned for bashing players.  By doing this, you could cost players their season.  Satisfied?
Cost them their season? Lighten up!! If it is an infraction, it is just a minor one, one that will not cost anyone a season. No player was bashed in my post. Do not see the connection. ???
 20. You be the judge: [Hidden Content] The use of hand pads are not allowed until Friday.
 21. Three memorable games that come to my mind that I have seen (or played in): 1979 District game Silsbee vs. Beaumont Hebert 1982 District game Silsbee vs. Beaumont Hebert 1979 YMBL Championship Silsbee vs. Beaumont Charlton-Pollard others: 1985 Silsbee vs. PA TJ  (Silsbee's Darrell McArthur scored 58 points) 1985   Regional finals Silsbee vs. Bay City 1986  Regional Semifinals Silsbee vs. Bay City   (McArthur vs. LaBradford Smith) 1980 Silsbee JV  vs. Spurger Varsity  (Spurger's homecoming) and a game that did not involve SETX teams, but the greatest game that I have ever seen to date: 1972 Class 4A State semifinal Dallas Roosevelt vs. Houston Wheatley Roosevelt  109 Wheatley  107

 24.
There was a post on an LSU blog that I read this past weekend that led me to believe the SEC may not be interested in Texas A&M as much as they might like to think.... I do agree we are in the last days of the Big XII....
Maybe LSU fans don't want the Aggies because A&M has defeated LSU 6 out of the last 7 meetings. ;) ;D I also think that LSU likes being the school with the more southwest geography in that West division (state of Texas recruits) If A&M comes in, they would lose that status somewhat.
