Williams is leaving the Evadale boys' head coach position.  Where is he going?
Good question, but the job is open. It was posted on the school's website and at THSCA on Wednesday.

 3. So Kenny Hoffpauir coaches one year and gives it up? What's up with that?
 4. Not this year. But when the Stangs do lose another district game it will most likely come at the hands of Silsbee. The Tigers are the only team in the district that can match up with WOS on an annual basis. Silsbee defeated WOS in district a few years ago and should have had a couple more. I don't see anyone defeating WOS in district this year.
 5.
I think the numbers Yates have, and the fact that many of the Houston schools tend to specialize in a certain sport,  greatly reduces the chances of a SETX  team getting to the "Big Dance". The kids in those area  have greater opportunity to compete and develop their basketball skills on a year-round basis. There is only one area team that I believe has the Houston-type talent to compete with anyone, and it's located North of Silsbee.
Shooter is speaking of Jasper. Here was Jasper's schedule and record for last year: JASPER BULLDOGS (18-12, 11-1) Head Coach: Brian Fox Nov. 18 - at Shepherd, 76-50 Nov. 21 - at Orangefield, 63-59 Nov. 22 - West Orange-Stark, 63-74 Nov. 29 - San Augustine, 63-74 Dec. 1-3 - Huntington Tournament                   Nacogdoches, 57-99                   San Augustine, 53-55                   Buffalo, 50-23 Dec. 6 - at San Augustine, 65-70 Dec. 8-10 - Brookshire-Royal Tournament                     SATCH, 43-73                                 L                                 L Dec. 16 - at Silsbee, 28-76 Dec. 20 - at Kirbyville, 55-44* Dec. 27-29 - Bridge City Tournament                       Humble Summer Creek, 63-60                       West Orange-Stark, 59-66                       Little Cypress-Mauriceville JV, 52-31                       Port Neches-Groves, W                     West Orange-Stark JV, 60-57 Dec. 30 - Bridge City, 2:30 p.m. Jan. 3 - Lufkin Hudson, 55-48* Jan. 6 - at Pollok Central, 55-44* Jan. 10 - Huntington, 56-61, OT* Jan. 13 - at Center, 47-40* Jan. 17 - at Diboll, 66-43* Jan. 24 - Kirbyville, 51-39* Jan. 27 - at Lufkin Hudson, 64-43* Jan. 31 - Pollok Central, 59-51* Feb. 3 - at Huntington, 62-38* Feb. 7 - Center, 57-42* Feb. 10 - Diboll, 58-44* Feb. 24 - Area: Fairfield, 34-64** I highlighted a few of their games. Silsbee's JV also beat Jasper's JV last year by 15, and Silsbee's JV wasn't that good. Maybe Jasper got several transfers in for this up coming season. ;) ::)

 7. The only way you can compare sports attendance that has a large discrepancy of the amount of games played is by looking at average attendance, not total. Anyone with any kind of sense should know that and not make comparisons otherwise. Yes it is a fact that the total MLB attendance is larger than NFL attendance but any nimrod should know that by the larger amount of games played. It's not a fair comparison which are what some are arguing about.

 9. Baseball has a higher total attendance over football only because MLB plays 162 games, NFL just 16. I do know this, more people attend high school football games than they do high school baseball games. In fact, more attend high school basketball games than high school baseball in the state of Texas.
 10. Out of those 5, Lincoln has played in the most state tourneys with 11.
 11. PNG also won football state championship in 1974.

I predict another 30 win season with less than 5 loses, but Yates plays teams all over the country like Findley Prep. 3A will be like JV games to them.
As well as 4-A which they dominated too.
Hey dove do me a huge favor man. I kinda forgot who was the 4A boy state champions. Can you please remind me?
Kimball won by a few points. Surely you are not comparing the 3-A teams to Kimball?  ::)
No comparison at all. Just asking a simple question.  8) And just to put some more of my "two cents" in dominating the 4A ranks would mean they would be the best. 2 place = 1st place loser.  8)
Has Vidor won state or even BEEN to state in ANY sport? (serious question.....kinda.... ;))
Yes we have been to state. Next question.
In what? Marbles??  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D....Seriously...when and in what sport, because I don't think that they have....ever.
football i think and i would have to look up the date to find out when... and i'm too tired and inebriated to do so now lol.
Football? Uhhh, NO SIR!! The ONLY teams in this area that have ever been to the state game in football is West Orange Stark, Westbrook, Kirbyville, Newton, Jasper, and PA Jefferson...Vidor? NO SIR! 8)
Uh, DV, I think you need to stick to what you know and that's basketball. Those teams you listed are not the ONLY teams from this area that have played for or won a state championship in football. PNG, Nederland, Bridge City, Hull-Daisetta, High Island, Beaumont French, Beaumont Hebert, Dayton and Beaumont Kelly have all played in the state title game, with some of those winning.
 13. He will be East Chambers run game coordinator and offensive line coach.
 14. STUPID!!!!!!!!! If you are going to allow 4 teams to make the playoffs, then they should make every district a minimum of 8 teams per district. I don't like that 4 teams go in 5A/4A when some of those districts only have 5-6 teams. RIDICULOUS!!!!
 15. The 45th Annual Silsbee Men's Golf Association Invitational Golf tourney gets kicked off this Thursday-Sunday with a practice round, shrimp boil and entertainment. It's a 54 hole medal play tourney for the Championship and Presidential flights, match play for all other flights. We have several former Lamar golfers playing in our Championship flight. Headlining that list is former NCAA All American and current Nationwide player Dawie Van der Walt, MJ Daffue who just competed at the NCAA National Championships and finishing top 25 (he will be making his pro debut), Joran Meeks, assistant pro at Redstone Golf Club, Chris Davis, Russell Helson and Chris Reive. Other notable players in the Championship flight: Andrew Landry (former Unv. of Arkansas player, currenty #5 on the Adams tour money list) Kelsey Cline (former Unv. of Oklahoma player, won the Terrel Garth the last two years) Evertte Nini (former Texas St. golfer) Host of Adams tour players: Michael O'Brein Corbin King Tye Grissom Kyle Maze Lance Vasquez Kevin Doskosil Patrick Prince Sponsorships are still available to purchase for anyone who wants to come out for 4 days of great food, great drink, and watch some great golf (plus clubhouse entertainment nightly). You can call Silsbee Country Club if interested in purchasing a sponsorship, 409-385-4372. It's a great time so come out and watch some of these former Cards do battle in the Championship flight.
 16. In regards to transfers, comparing HJ to Yates is utterly ridiculous. I do find it strange that Yates' enrollment is down to 3A level yet get 41 transfers to an unacceptable rated school. BTW DV, those 41 transfers are a fact and they all are awaiting the ruling on their athletic status, not their "communications" status. Magnet school or not, Yates has an unacceptable rating and anyone transferring to that school without moving into the school zone should have their athletic status questioned. As for Johnson who transferred to HJ, his form was signed off on by BISD and his family moved to Sour lake. Case closed.
 17. Good luck Alex!! It was a pleasure working with you. Don't be a stranger.
