Bear Cave got a reaction from Setx fan in Little Cypress-Mauriceville 39 Hamshire-Fannett 61/FINAL
HF 61, LCM 39. Bears led by Jesse Doucette with 17 and Jackson Smith 13. Definitely not how we wanted or anticipated this game going, but hats off to Hamshire Fannett. You won't ever hear any excuses here. Thanks to our players (especially the seniors), parents, and fans for their unconditional support and we're already looking forward to next year. The future is bright.

To make much noise in the playoffs you’ve got to win the district. The runner up faces Yates in the second round.
Honestly it would be better this year to come in 4th than 2nd. 1st and 4th are in the other sub bracket and wouldn’t face Yates till Region.

HJ 67, LCM 50. The lead was at 5 going into the final quarter, but we ran out of gas and couldn't buy a bucket late. Jesse Doucette had 24 and freshman Ben Elliott had 14. Baxter Wirth scored 23. HJ is a solid two or three deep at every position and could really make some noise in the playoffs.

Doucette looked real good but the Tigers did a better job defending him in the second half. He scored most of those in the first half. And yes Braelon is going to be a good one for some college.

This was a good game to broadcast.
10 lead changes and no team had a lead more than 6 points all night.
Lumberton led after 1st 14-13, LC-M led at half 23-22, tied 37-37 at end of 3rd.
LC-M's Doucette led all scorers with 22 points (11-15 from FT line)

Braden was an average player on a bad team as a freshmen. Fast forward three years and he's averaging just under 27 points a game...on a team that only averaged 55. He is a prime example of a kid putting in the work and ending up as a really good player. He is committed to Coach Stan Bonewitz at Concordia and should sign soon so we are excited to see what the future holds.
As far as not making the Super Gold First Team, the five they chose were all very deserving of the honor. With that said, you could probably pick an entirely different five and they would still be deserving. There a lot of really good players in our area this year. I do think that if you're going to call something the First Team it leads one to believe that there will be a Second Team. Why not just call it the Super Gold Team?

I’m well aware of how difficult it is to narrow this down to five. Virtually impossible. Perhaps they should increase it to 10? I know it may seem like it makes it less significant, but I wonder how many, like me, know a player and wonder, how did they keep him off. Braden Bridges, from LCM, is one I think could’ve (should’ve?) been on there. The kid is a shooter. If you’re not in his face, he scores, and if you’re in his face, he still may score. Jmo
And no, I don’t know the kid. Wouldn’t recognize him if he walked up to me. Just saw him a couple of games, and had a kid I know tell me he was the toughest guy he ever had to guard.
