Do you think these two boys would do it all over again if they knew what they know now?
I do not think you you have ever sat on a grand jury - it is amazing to me the number of times crimes are committed by the same people - after being found guilty and serving jail time they still commit crime after crime.  I know that it may not be a fair comparison but the fact is that people young and old do commit "mistakes" time after time even after they know the consequences.
A "mistake" is a mistake until it turns into a crime which in this case - in my opinion - it has.

Oh good Lord guys, you beat Barbers Hill.  Seriously??  A team everybody in a 5-state region knows is "out-athleted" at nearly every position by nearly every team they play with maybe the exception of Porter.  And you're gonna come on here and beat your chest like you accomplished the greatest feat since the dawn of man..  Seriously??  You just beat a team soundly,  with your scrubs... Bully bully for you; that proves nothing other than what most have been saying all along, BH just doesn't have the "hosses" consistently or in quantity to run with likes of Crosby, King, et al!, but that's no reason to not play the game!! It's precisely this kind of textual "mine is bigger", AFTER-GAME rhetoric why most people on this board don't WANT to give Crosby the props they deserve because you act like that.  The Crosby football team doesn't need validation from a bunch of old "has beens"on this board, they are VERY good and  prove it on the fields!!  The question to ask, is why do YOU need it on here???
...and as far as the comments about coming to the Hill to get "hosed" by the refs...it happens to every team at everybody ELSE'S field or court or diamond!! Bad calls happen in almost every game, in all sports, at ALL levels!! All those centuries ago, we hated going to the Golden Triangle to play because we felt we had to deal with the refs bad calls!!  Unfortunately guys, it's a part of the game!! Yeah I wished they NEVER happened...I also wished I made $10 mil a year, had abs of steel, and didn't have to worry about getting fatter and older!!!  (Ain't gonna happen!!)
Chin up Eagles and never NOT TRY because the odds are stacked against you - you men are awesome!!  Crosby Cougar Football team..hope you win it all!!

You know, we can all bash Price (as I did NOT like his coaching style), or Gage, ( I was excited for him to bring something different to the table and in theory could work, but not with what he has to work with), or anybody else.  Nobody really liked Gene Sharp cuz he was a tough SOB, but he got results in the 70's.  Nobody really loved Pudgy Richardson, but he too won a state championship.  Point being, yes, it takes a coach that connects to the kids, has a sound system, has a school administration that allows for risks, and has a fan base that allows time for results.  If you don't have one or two of these, well, it will be tough. It is rare that a new coach comes in, implements a whole new scheme and attitude and is successful UNLESS they have a whole host of super athletes.  Oh it happens, but it's not the norm, it's the exception.  The thing that gripes me is that BH used to be successful.  Why, I believe we were successful because our growth was slow or inconsequential.  That allowed fans, administration etc to all come around and allowed the coaching staffs to work and know exactly what they have to work with.  Over the past 6 or 7 years, BH has seen amazing growth and with that growth comes a dilution of the old fan base, new attitudes, etc...that does look strange to anyone outside.  My theory is it's just the nature of the beast.  PNG, Nederland, Dayton, Crosby has not seen the super growth as the Hill.  They have had a steady system from enrollment, coaching staffs although Crosby and PNG have gotten really good coaches, everything has basically stayed the same for the most part which is crucial.  In addition, when you look at the socio-economic structure of BH (and this is by no means a race thing so don't even try to go there), the BH area is becoming one of the most residentially affluent areas in all of the Houston area -( and yes, that allows for super-payrolls in the school districts.)  This is not my observation, this is published within the housing development communities.  I'm sure there are families out there that would love to move to the Hill for many reasons, but the housing costs prohibit that.  (There are those too I'm sure that wouldn't move there to save their lives and that's ok too!).  All I'm saying is that there are ton of reasons why the hill is suffering from it's  (elite football prowess of yesteryear), and it's called evolution.  One day, the Hill will again be competitive on a consistent basis (consistent as defined by playoff appearances) in football, but until that time, go ahead take your pop-shots, belittle and mock.  We have what we have, we are who we are, and the kids are winners in life whether they win in football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball or whatever!  (Although it would be more fun for us old gasbags if we did...lol)!!
...and as for as Andy Evans?  He was a year behind me in school and even as a young man, he had style, an infectious style that just made you like and respect him.  I would love for Andy to return to the Hill and if it cost more money, well...great.  But if he did, and wasn't successful, the same whole host of you would say something negative as to why he wasn't so I'm not sure it really matters.  I would still like it though for sentimental reasons!!

Got to respect Crosby in all sports over the past few years.  They had great football and baseball teams over the years, Just hope BH can make a game of it and play hard and make it respectful,   BH has changed so much over the last 7 years, so  many move ins and most of the original BH posters from the 3A glory days are gone, may have a few looking through rose colored glasses but the last 5 or 6 years should have brought all back to reality,   We have some decent players with heart and tough kids and are fun to support being the local team, but no big college prospects and no high expectations of making a deep run, just hopes of playing hard and respecting the game and playing competitive football, and whatever happens, happens, and we still will support them.   Good luck to both teams and hope it is a hard hitting competitive game, with no injuries, and hope the running back from Crosby is OK, he has a great future in the game and opponent or not , hate to see any kid lose that over a injury,   . Still think Crosby by a couple or more TDs,  they are really good , no shame in losing to a team with more talent if you give your all.

I dont know you, I didnt witness what happened in the game, and I know nothing about your sons. I do know what its like to have someone run down my child and I know the rage that creates in me as a father.  From your posts in this thread I would say that you have worked your whole life to overcome the circumstances in which you grew up and to protect your children from the dangers you had to face.  If that is true then you have shown your sons what a man really is.  By posting your response here you have defended them like a father defends his kids in a manner that is equal to the way in which they were attacked.  My only advice is to continue to be the example you have been to them so far.  Let your rage pass and show them that a man can be above the criticism of others and forgive those who speak from ignorance.  You and your sons are to strong to be hurt by the word of fools.

Crosby it will be hard to talk smack this week, but I'm sure we will :D Crosby has two nice wins against better opponents than BH and has given us trouble the past 3-4 years via the twins  Glad they are gone, but it would seen that you still have some pretty good talent as well as a good coaching staff now at Crosby. Now there are some assumptions that Angleton is a supper team that has way more talent than BH well that is just assumptions :P Things that are different this year than last fro BH is that some of the big names have left ,but the 14 that have returned are pretty good. I think BH is running the ball harder meaning the backs are getting to the holes quicker and blowing through defenders. The passing game looks to be better with two speedy receivers and a taller QB that can make the pass. Things that haven't changed is putting the !@#%!% ball on the !@#%@#$% ground!! and giving up 10 yard pass plays to protect the long ball.. I'm hoping this will be a good game and BH can stop turning the ball over and making mental mistakes, but if it happens in this game Crosby will eat us alive. No prediction here

I would be interested to know what the coaches on both sides were doing during the "tussle" and what their take on all of this is.  I would think that if it was too bad, the coaches would have stormed the field.  However, on another level, if the Splendora guy WAS strangling the Tarkington guy, one; I would think that would be on film somewhere, 2. perhaps there something to come if indeed that was true.  Personally, I think "strangling" is a bit different from pushing and shoving and even throwing a punch...jmo.

Senior's night at Barbers Hill.  Recognition tonight for our 7 Seniors who are all college bound...  We defeated New Caney tonight 6-0 in 7 innings.  The NC pitcher had our girls off balance for most of the night until the 6th inning.  Just wanted to make a post to congratulate our Seniors on going undefeated in district play for all four years of their HS careers.  They were a perfect 60-0 in district play over a four year stretch.  Along the way we saw many great battles especially with Crosby who took us to extras more than once and always played us tough.  Dayton probably gave us the biggest scare this year in a 12 inning affair where they were one pitch away from handing us our only district loss.  New Caney, Kingwood Park, Baytown Lee have been competitive on several occasions.  The competition has only made our group stronger and any success we have is as a result of playing good competition.

Looking back, it is amazing that these girls were able to go undefeated as freshman and sophomores.  Of course, much of that success was at the hands of upper classman in those early years...  Games that come back to memory include game winning hits from Maddie Sumrall and Jessie Rodriguez in crucial situations against Crosby.  Other upper classman who impacted our team heavily were Kelsey Lee, Rylan Harvey, and Kimberlin Naiver.  Without their leadership and clutch performances 60-0 would have been impossible.

Looking forward to our playoff run this year whatever that may be... Regardless of the outcome this is one amazing group of girls who have compiled a 111-14 (this record excludes scrimmage games, but counts all preseason, district, and playoff games) record in four years of HS softball leading into this years playoffs.

Amazing!  Glad I got to watch all 125 games!

Kaleb was by far the biggest loss in our district this year. The kid is a UT commit and led the area in home runs last year. I'm not saying that there are not other good coaches in our district but if you look at Denny's accomplishments in baseball playing and coaching there is really no comparison.
