Eagle82 reacted to GeauxDawgs in Cody Simper interview. Welcome Coach!
Everything that was said in the first 2 min of that interview will never be said about GCCISD EVER. Friday night lights in East Houston, community, culture, fan support. Pity my @ss LOL. I wonder why he wasnt interested in the GCM job ? I wonder what freshman football coach will end as the head coach there? What a joke.

IMHO, I think the biggest reason most of these "special" coaches you all are so quick to say turned BH down, and probably did, wasn't necessarily because of Poole, or the School Board, or community, or anything else you like to sling, but more realistically the fate of who may very well end up their district mates or bi-district opponent moving up to 6A...Period! I really doubt ANY of those fellas would want to put their legacy and pride on the line with that daunting fact! Face it, when a coach reaches that successful level in their career, I don't think many would want to take over a program with good athletes having to compete every week against those D1 Juggernauts, to just struggle to reach the playoffs as the 4th place team, or to be abruptly eliminated by NS, SC, or 'Cita every friggin' year in Bi-District! That just doesn't make much sense, $200k or whatever the number ended up being! At some point, money isn't everything; although, I would like a $200k salary...LOL!
If BH was in an area with multiple feeder schools and a population level that supported a more conducive talent pool, then yeah, maybe...but a rural-esque, bubble of population in a small, independent school district up against those guys...nope, not buying it! I just don't think those Uber-successful coaches would jeopardize what they have for that.
I don't know Simper's pedigree, but I wish him luck in his new endeavor. Whatever happens, I expect BH to compete with heart and guts with what lies ahead in the very near future, and I have no doubt they'll respond accordingly! I'm sure he is a great motivator, coach, gentleman, and although I don't know him from Adam, as a lifetime BH'er, I'll support him. Go Eagles and yes, I'm a homer - so what!

I get it. We played with an offense where I didn't even recognize the players. Except for the QB most all the skill guys are out. It is amazing how many injuries BH has had the past 2 years. Beyond crazy. So BH fumbles twice in first 90 seconds. Recovered both but killed the drive. Not a great start. BH is behind 13-3 but is gifted with the ball on the 2 right before half. One play to get a crucial score. No recievers available, no passing game working, so instead sending our big QB plowing ahead into the endzone...we pass for yet another incompletion. Fail. Our big QB had daylight to run into. He would have made it. A golden opportunity lost.
Second half BH D plays well and O gets going with the O-line paving the way. BH claws back and has enough but limited time to make a winning drive at the end. First set, our QB runs right and could easily pick up 1st down, but decides to hook slide again way too early. He is one of the most physical players on the team but plays like he is a fragile item in bubble wrap. You cannot play like this especially in crunch time of a crunch game. If the idea is to keep him from taking any hits, what are we saving him for at this point? BH implodes at the 2 again as time expires to end the game. Another golden opportunity lost. Even with BH decimated with injuries, this game was entirely winnable.
We are now 1-2 in district, 5th place, with Ball still ahead. Yes, some starters might come back, but probably thats too little too late. At best we are locked into 4th place with a bad path ahead. Might even lose to WB and miss playoffs. I dunno. The larger question is, can our QB ever play wide open and lay it all out to win? Clearly he is not the best passer, he is wildly inaccurate at times, so why not play directly to his strength? He could be a LOAD to bring down if he would just run wide open. If that would have happened tonight, we win.

Nah, I disagree! This D is better than any Cowgirl had! He had some good players, but top to bottom, this D is better than any we have had in a very long time, IMO! 1st DP td on trick play was just a tough one. 2nd DP td, the ref in the center of the field took out 2 and maybe 3 defenders in pursuit when runner reversed field. The 3rd DP td was a result of the boneheaded muffed punt on the 4 yard line.
The boys played hard and I’m more frustrated with play-calling to start 2nd 1/2. DP made a great defensive adjustment to shut down the off tackle play that was gashing them, but for some reason, we kept trying time and time again for mostly no or negative yardage.
Should have been a W, but coulda/shoulda, right? Buckle down next week for the 4th 6A team to start the season and get after it Eagles!

Eagle82 got a reaction from Separation Scientist in Manvel (13) @ Barbers Hill (21) - FINAL
Dayum! I’m still hurting from that hit that Manvel receiver took in the 4th qtr, and I was sitting 40rows up!! Probably one the cleanest, hardest hits in HS football I’ve seen in a LONG time…and I’m old! One thing about this Eagle defense that impresses me, is they not only play keys and techniques well, they will damn sure separate one from their jock strap. These fellers HIT!

Agree with 82! The defense is playing very well and might have pitched a shutout if not for some mis cues in the 1st half. I knew this would be a better game for Manvel and they cleaned up the mistakes from last week and settled on their QB. BH QB playing in wet conditions tonight didn’t have as good of a night, but his team played solid and finished the game. Next week should be the toughest test for the Eagles thus far playing Deer Park at their house! Good game Eagles

Eagle82 got a reaction from Separation Scientist in **OFFICIAL 2024-26 REALIGNMENT THREAD**/Post updates, comments here
I definitely support Abseck and his staff and how they coach, consistently! I did NOT like the 2 "give aways" last year, but it does happen, unfortunately! I hope they have learned that lesson! I sort of think this district is not gonna be a cakewalk for any team, actually - any given Friday. The loss of Crosby from our district schedule is just like the loss of Dayton a few years ago. Now we get big bad WB and Angleton and the normally always tough Ball to add to PA's athletic team. Gonna be fun and ready to start this new chapter!!

A lot of this is on the new HC. You can’t lose control of your team, and it appears he has. The OC needs to watch film or something, have the ball going to Herndon! So frustrating. Oh well, now you play for pride. Let’s see how they play when playoffs are a long shot
