I honestly think most of the people that post negative things about Hefner are old schoolers. I’m a old schooler myself and back in the 90’s when you had a big D1 recruit on a team they dominated the game. They would score 30 plus a game no mater if they were doubled teamed or not. They stuck out like a sore thumb but times have changed. You look at the total makeup of Hefner and he has all the intangibles to become a big time player. He has a lot of things going for him that you can’t teach but he also has a lot of improving to do on the offensive end. He missed several layups, jumpers and free throws that he will have to learn to make if he’s going to have a successful college career which he’s capable of doing but he’s not there at this point. The bright side is he will have at least 4 more years to improve.

Memorial always does a great job defending Hefner with several players and lots of trapping and double teams. It probably led to open threes for Gipson and some really good looks for other players. I know yalls agenda here, but I promise he had plenty to do with the win. With that being said, y’all are constantly on Hefner’s ass... how do y’all give Clover a free pass?

That's exactly what happened and they left 21 wide open and he made us pay for it. As for Nate, he got 3 fouls early and a 4th early in the 3rd qtr. Not to take from Nederland big win, but those three refs were complete GARBAGE. They missed TONS of calls on both sides. Saw a Nederland player literally hugging a PAM player with no call. On the other end saw PAM players get away with some things as well.

I’m interested to see how Hayden does at the next level when he doesn’t have to be “the guy.” I’ve heard he plays very well on his shoe team with a lot of studs around him. Averages double digits and makes a lot of great plays. One thing you can’t deny is that his offer list of 8 schools is as good as anyone in SETX.

Memorial has a solid squad and are really tough in the blocks. Very impressed with Lofton. He had his way. It was a great game for one half until Ned went on a 3rd Q scoring drought. Memorial was very physical with Hefner all night and he got frustrated. Lofton outshined him tonight, but Hefner DID NOT quit on his team like one Memorial fan said. Congrats on the win, Memorial. The local high school basketball scene is so much better when Kountze is competing for district titles.

Are grown up adults making all these posts? Anyways, congratulations to the Titans, always have strong teams and wish them well the rest of the season.  To my Bulldogs, win some you lose some so pick your head up and finish taking care of business, lots of games left.

Off topic, but there is a difference between best player and most athletic player.  I thought that's what initially came up on this topic. With all due respect to this thread (Nederland and PA), I won't bring up any other players..  But I'll say that the Nederland kid  is neither the best player or the most athletic player I SETX, but he's in the top 5 of both, IMO.  
With respect to Heffner, I know he's a smart kid to have gotten the  offer from A&M and I hear he's kicking arse  academically.  With that said, I know for a fact he'll thrive out there next year.

Chances are he won’t be doubled for the entire game in the SEC. If he’s so bad then why was the game plan to take Hefner away? (Great coaching by the way, and something English should’ve adjusted to, but he didn’t) Also, why don’t we let the kid get to A&M before you claim they made a mistake on him?

Hefner played 31 minutes...check notes...yep, he came out in last minute of the game down 17. But sure, he quit 🤡

Then criticize the coach all you want. Not the kid. It seems there is a lot of animosity towards the Hefner kid because of the kind of scholarship offers he received. (A lot of comments like yours referring to "power 5") Many people in college basketball must think he's pretty darn good judging from the offers he received. I'll go with the opinions of the guys working for college basketball programs over guys on the forum. 

PA played a great game and won. Coach came in with a great game plan to get  the job done. I never made a prediction for anyone to win this game. All I ever said was how ridiculous it is that Hefner gets so much criticism from "adults" on this forum. With a few of the comments in this thread, I'd say I've been proven correct.
