U know watching them from the beginning of the season until now. This has to be CT best coaching job on both sides of the ball.by been more involved in offense and defense and special teams. Never seen him have to move different combinations just to get what he needs to get out of them.bcz this isn't a team that is loaded from top to bottom.i have to admit watching them early season loses.if they would adjust bcz some of the kids wasnt getting it.so it brings us to now.that no matter who the better player is on either side of the ball will play.not saying that they can't be beat.im simply saying that this  team will see so many different kids playing on defense.more then anytime ever.doing whatever it takes to get a stop on defense.

I know what this team is made of and it's called never give up.We have been in the position to win all our games.Just needed to put the right people in the right position and I think coach T has finally done that. We have just as good of a shot to make it out of this region as Sweeny,Jasper or Giddings. It's not a sure thing as in the past but the are capable.

Bottom line here is one thing,Roschon single handidly kicked nederlands ass for three years, even with a last minute win last year he still had his way with our defense.ppl can sit here all day and give the what ifs  but one thing for sure is nederland coaches or players has never stopped him, give credit where credit is due.Im hoping for one more chance to play against him but im a realist and that doesn't look good. Not knocking coaches or players he is just that good,do I think he goes to start at texas ,I say if he does it wont be at qb but then again I hope im proved wrong, but in the big picture I just wanna see him on the field,im a fan and any team would be lucky to have an athlete like that on the field.Just like my son said it was an honor to play against him,it was an honor to watch him kick our butt, but that is over lets focus on willowridge  and whoever else gets in our way now, because till its said and done I will be backing our boys 100%..Do I think we are winning state no but would I be surprised to get there no,,thats if we show up every week and give it our all at every position from fans in the stands to the trainers giving boys water,,get behind your city and team and buckle up your chin straps,,regardless what happens go support and have fun..It will all be over soon, dont blink!!!FACTS

I thought  this would be a good time to make this post. Since there should be zero animosity at this point. Shug played his last district game in Purple last night. Throughout his 3 year career, he has taken shots from folks for one reason or the other, basically because of his school, and his high level recruitment. Shug has been nothing but a class act  throughout his PNG career, and has represented the school and district with nothing but class. The term GOAT gets thrown around a lot, and it's always a hard debate.. But in my opinion, he is the most dynamic QB I have seen in years on a football field. In my time only Kendall Briles and Dakari Pearson can compare. And ironically both those guys put burnt orange on as well. In a world full of hate, I think now is the time to show this kid some love. It was a pure joy to watch him. And I hope he does great things at UT, as well as in life.... It's been a privilege to meet his family, and call his big bro a friend.. I posted 3 years ago there would be no QB debate because Shug was the real deal. I. Remember the first time I coached his brother in 7 on 7 and lil Shug showed up catching any ball we threw him on the sidelines, that he was destined for greatness. People laughed, but feel free to scroll back to those posts. So in conclusion, great kid, great family, great athlete... And like it or not he will always bleed purple. For some, you can understand, for others you can't. I'm proud to call him a fellow Indian, and know he will succeed in life. Simple ending.... Honor, Pride, Tradition... That's a hard 3 words to outdo...... and last but not least. Hook Em!

Im shocked about this one for real. I thought Vidor had all the factors. I mean let’s look at the facts
Vidor offense is tough if your not use to it (they aren’t)
its homecoming, Vidor has taken down top district teams before on HC
    vidor almost upset Crosby
nederland held SF to 0 but I promise you they don’t  hold Vidor to 0
goes to show that some things just get thrown out the window

Congrats to WOS on the win. It was a hard fought game and both teams left it all on the field. A dropped TD pass on our second position and two turnovers. When you have a young QB and he's struggling you got to help him out, that pass in the end zone bounced off the WR hands then one over the middle that was caught but a hard hit jarred it loose, got to hang on to it. The INT pass should have never been thrown there, WR had double coverage, also late in the game our QB threw into triple coverage with a WR wide open over the middle. Got to check the safety! Our QB will watch film and see and learn from it. Just the third game for him starting at QB. Why not go up the middle on WOS, with eight or nine  in the box, you try to go out side on them and that's WOS strength their speed on the outside. Never have been able to run outside on WOS. Good luck to both teams from here on out.

Yaaaaa'lllll ... ya'll are ruining a perfectly good smack-talking board. This is a good game, and its going to be soured by weeks of back-and-forth about who said what and who's a racist and who is too sensitive to be on the internet.
Here's a novel idea: No one cares about ANY of these comments.
Both sides on this thread have plenty to worry about in their leaky defenses and managing to come up with a win in a tough, exciting game. Let's just have the game and shake hands after like good sports.

High school football between my two favorite teams. I love it and hate it at the same time. I love it because it should be a good game and I hate it because somebody has to lose, and there are people that are going to get their feelings hurt because they lost. That is not saying anything about who wins. Let us go watch a good game, wish everybody an injury free game, good luck in the future and be thankful we don't meet in the playoffs. This is two good teams with speed, quality players and a good work ethic. A lose by either one is not the end of the world or the season. If I pick a winner for this game, it will be a homer pick because that is my Alma Mater. I don't see it being a runaway by either team, but if it should turn out that way then everybody else take notice.

Wow, WO-S is two divisions higher then Newton, twice as many kids in high school. I assure you, Newton has all the respect for W0-S and Gilmer. Newton playing WO-S is like WO-S playing Aledo and Manvel this year. Let' compare apples to apples. Newton obviously does not have the dept. that the larger schools have. But, don't sell Newton short this year. I think Newton will give a good account of themselves.

On Tuesday my retirement from 33 years of coaching in east Harris county schools is official. I have been an avid fan of this site,  lurking online to not upset any future employer as I was heavy into trying to land my first head coaching gig. Never happened, bridesmaid 4-5 times. I got a great sales job opportunity from a fellow alumni Marlin Bulldog and started 2 weeks ago in jasper. Just wanted to say love your discussions, your passions, and so do other coaches. Some of your viewpoints are spot on, some ridiculous. Just because you haven't coached high school ball doesn't mean you're wrong. Unfortunately some high school  coaches act like bill O'Brien and talk down to everyone not in the club. That is just insecurities on their part and I hope the Texans overcome bad head coaching again, thank God Romeo Cornell is back. I will be an active member now along with other boards. I know of smoak for my central, deep east fix but is there a site for Houston area?

So since I am doing better (but still in the hospital), I need something to do so I will start the previews tomorrow.  I have tinkered with the schedule which is now in the newly formed preview sub forum.
I'll start tomorrow with Newton, United and Jasper.
On a separate note,  I really appreciate the prayers, well wishes and visits, they have meant a lot.

It's not about fear. Fear has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's about playing teams with your caliber of talent. WO-S is great, but they can not be scared to face a team like Lake Travis all they want to be. They can be as prepared as they want to be. It's not going to change the outcome of the game when they're playing a constant rotation of D1 athletes. The classifications have nothing to do with fear. It's about playing teams from schools like yours, and each team having similar opportunity. I understand your logic when it comes to 11 on 11, but I don't think the system is "watered down." You can play whomever you wish to schedule in pre-district, there's where your "fear" would be an issue. But when it comes to competition, it needs to be broken into classifications where everyone gets a fair shot. Twice the kids, means twice the opportunity to find better talent. You gotta remember there's a lot more than football that goes into UIL classifications as well.

Not coming on to talk smack, too much flying on the Smoaky site.
Just had a feeling that PG would end up at the end of the year playing WOS.
I know one Coach will motivated for his team by more than usual.
Our Boys have never been this far in football, nothing like the Dynasty you have in Orange, but for this one year, they are thrilled for the shot at The Man, and will give you their best.
Here's hoping everyone is healthy to play, and to finish.
    Safe travels, y'all.

Not really bored even if my team is not playing.  I love me some high school football, and this week it's over.  Kinda depressing when I think about it...
I'm over here just to see what's going on with y'all to see if I can get a better feel for this game.  There's so much chest beating and other nonsense going on over there it's tough to have any real football talk on the ET site.  It's humorous at times, though.  I have to admit that.  It's dead on the downlow.  Nobody from PG gets on there.  They just now discovered that there were internet forums in that part of Texarkana when PG starting winning, so I guess they don't know about that one.
No kidding, though.  Congrats to the Mustangs.  I'll admit I was one of those that thought the streak would end before this week somehow.  It's amazing to be there AGAIN after losing JD, and so many players to graduation.
And, I have absolutely no statistics (team or player), no roster, no real information available to make an educated guess in the title game.  I'd like to know who to look for before actually watching the game.
