And Honest Abe im only going by MaxPrep results but Ozen record against Nederland 14-4 last 18 games. Against Central 12-4 in the last 16. So Beaumont schools are roughly 26-8 against nederland and thats competitive right man stop it. I dont see where he's been successful against them, do the kids play hard yes ,they do they run their system to perfection  yes, but let me know when he gets above .500. And yea yea 2014 Colton spin move game winner but you cant live in the past forever. If thats the highlight for Nederland program they have a longggggg way to go.

Sad but true the agony of defeat brings out the worse in some of us....I have no dog in this fight but it seems there's some hateration here for Beaumont Ozen and the success they have each year in basketball. Big Ned dominates in football and i commend them not hate on them.   

Don't mind the talking at all ,I agree if you can talk a player out of his game ,do it .Number 23 kept talking to Boyd after he made a 3 pointer we see how that worked out in the end .What I didn't understand was why he wasn't tecked, when the last meeting, after Ozen player duncked said something and got tecked.

Not condoning anything but before you rush to judgment to burn the kid at the stake you should know more about the kid. I will go on the limb and say most not all kids in this generation have attitudes not saying its right but what can you do to turn a negative into a positive. And i will almost guarantee every college team has their fair share of kids with them but at the end of the day helping the kid work on that part himself is more important than anything he'll learn in life & you cant just throw a kid away .

Bottom line is BISD is thinking what's better for them and not the KIDS. That's a shame, isn't this suppose to be about the well being of the kids? Shouldn't we try to put the kids in the best opportunity to succeed on a even playing field? Nothing personal to you Beaumont faithful, but its times like these that give Beaumont a bad reputation.

Soulja, I know about the Pegasus program.  I have 3 there now and a freshman at Central now who went there.  My kids will be going to the high school they are zoned to which is Central.  But many of the kids go to West Brook because  their friends are going there, not because they are zoned there.  Even if they don't enforce it at the middle school level, I think they should be stricter at the high school level...jmo.

Ozen should be in this district.  I can't believe that Saveat is going to cheat the kids out of a level playing field to save a few dollars...yes I can...smh.

It won't affect the Ozen basketball program but as for football, they won't make the playoffs in 2016 or 2017.  Remember I said it even with Tyler returning.  It really isn't fair to the kids in my opinion.  They could have still played Central and West Brook in pre-district games.  I think the drop would have done great things for the student body at the school in the various extracurricular activities...

Will someone in the know explain/share with us who makes/made the decision for OZEN High School to opt out and stay in class 5A. Curiuos was it The Board of managers,The AD or the school itself ?
In my opinion only Ozen struggles with the numbers putting together a competitve group every year. The U.I.L. put together a system by numbers to give a level playing field to all. Travel cost
shouldnt that big of a difference if thats one of the reasons.Jmo..... 

Not sure why BISD would be so against Ozen playing 4A. Not like much of the competition at that level have further driving distances than their current district. 

Dadgum stat, can't Vidor & Ozen both be in?   Cut us teams that don't get in that often a little slack.  Tribe and Jags ought to be locks but don't turn everybody else dreams into a nightmare before we start.  You durn party pooper.  Go Pirates and Panthers (miracles do happen lol)

Ozen would love to play Bill Cosby again, I mean Crosby. I just believe that a new coach with no knowledge of his players full capabilities was out played by a talented more well prepared team. My playing days are over so I merely spectate and stir the pot a little so I have no choice but to root for my Panthers. Crosby will be good but so will the Panthers and too me, to move forward Crosby's butt has to be whipped. And then watch us Nae Nae! Lol

Everyone will see an Ozen Team with far less miscues this Season. I predict at Least 7 Wins (5 Coming in District)

Panthers are in the Lab early in the AM, Parking lot Full of Cars(Coaching Staff) Expecting Great things from this Group of young men & Staff. Can't wait for the Season to start. Panthers!!!!!!

Congrats to Ozen and fans I am so happy you guys get to go to the playoffs. The school, fans, and students needed this trip. My very close friend who is the son of an old Beaumont BB coach will be very happy. Awesome job!!!!!!. 

Very interesting observation JRidge. Hopefully help is on the way. Its been rumored the shortages in staff and the going ons  there is no accident. Stability at the head coach position is a must. keeping Suggs will help. 

Big Ticket 409 / That's a very good question. However, in my opinion the Pear Orchard and Hebert Alumni supporters were spoiled by Hebert winning State Championships in 1959, 1966 and 1976.
 
Coach Clifton Ozen and Alex Durley both had an overall winning percentage of 85 %. The Panthers were in the playoffs nearly every season under both these great men. Advancing three to four rounds deep. Including several Semi-Final rounds.
 
Panther Pride was special to the Pear Orchard Community back then. It meant something to wear Blue and Gold on Friday nights, knowing that the scoreboard would reflect another Panther victory at the conclusion of most contest. Faculty and Staff became accustomed to winning, most of them lived in the community and would make their presence know with various chats. One in particular that rubbed off on everyone was Mrs. Rose Williams shouting out loud. (CALLING ON THE DEFENSE !!! ) That became part of her Hebert Legacy. One that Hebert Alumni Panthers will forever remember and still chat during our Mass Reunions.
 
 It's safe to say, most individuals from the Pear Orchard Community aren't use to having a losing football season. This mentality unfortunately, has created some fair weather fans. Typically, in the past if Ozen advances to post season play. I have personally observed a huge presence from the Panther community and Hebert Alumni at this games. Including during Ozen Basketball Playoff games !
 
However, it shouldn't be this way. Some, have lost sight of the true picture and focus. It's all about supporting the kids. Therefore, I am challenging the Pear Orchard and Hebert Alumni Community to get behind these kids beginning Friday night against the Central Jags and continue to support them Win or Lose. (DON'T BE A FAIR WEATHER FAN ! )
 
Hebert's motto is Whatever Hebert Does It Must Be The Best !!!  Panthers, let's not say it words, but live that motto and show these young Panthers true Team and School Spirit.

Thanks Yeoj, he made us so proud. Rodney will Graduate with Honors. That means more to him than any athletic accomplishment. I'm so grateful God has allowed us to be a part of his maturity. Sports pales in comparison to his Excellence in Education. Through it All, Ozen is producing very productive students; Others Beaumont Schools also

Maybe if we had 19 coaches like Central it would make his job easier...Suggs isnt the problem its the lack of coaches in the program. When the AD wont allow you to bring in who you want well this what you get. Want to complain knock on Rodney Saveat door not Coach Suggs.Just think they've been thru 3 coaches kids already dont want to play for a losing program which is why the numbers are down. Im all for discipline but their in a delicate place. We have so many adults telling kids that the coach cant coach which is clearly a sign of disrespect. A huge problem for our youth today. I respect guys like Cam and Ridge because i know my son is safe around them. Want to change a system get inovlved otherwise stay in the background and continue to complain.

Ozen has to put the Nederland game behind them and make adjustments offensively.Also, they have to stop beating themselves with turnovers and poor Special Team play.

Coach Suggs and his staff has to correct these things in a hurry or they will be spectators for post season play.
