2.

how many times has it cost over the last couple of seasons?  it almost cost him last night over a much inferior team.
Actually, there was never a fear or the feeling  for YATES losing last night. Yates missed their 3's and they had a nice half court set they had to rely on. It showed they could play a half court game.
And it STILL PROVES that they are not as invincible as certain parties portrayed.
113-83 in regional final speaks for itself. Denial ain't a river in Egypt.
I don't think "choke" is the right term.  I give LV lots of credit for the man defensive pressure they were able to apply.  HJ just couldn't shake it.  There were two bad passess at the end of the game that hurt, but there were lots of other bad passess as well. Both teams played well and LV hit it at the right time.
why not? According to everyone here: 1) HJ the better team, 2) Refs didn't cost them the game, 3) HJ not outcoached. The choices quickly narrow. From above: "....fell apart at the wrong times" aka ?

(my pick to win it all)
So you think the twins can take Marcus Smart & Co. ? I can't decide. The close call for Marcus may be just what they need for a wake up call. But Travis has been playing WAAAAY tougher competition thru the year (district).....but some here put no stock at all in playing tough schedules. Have you seen both teams play? I haven't seen Marcus against tough competiton this year, just blowouts, so hard to evaluate at this level.

 6.
Yates is going to smack the hot sauce out of Jones!
so true
 7. we're on page 11 of this thread and no one so far has said LV was the better team or that refs costs HJ the game. So did HJ choke?
 8. Who'da thunk that SE Tx was a hotbed of KPark fans
 9. I find it hard to believe LV had more talent, quickness, savvy/IQ, matchup advantages, size, length or coaching IQ than HJ. This is a HUGE disappointment. What was the missing piece to get over the hump (again)?
 10. this could be another playoff run like a couple of yrs ago when they were so dominant. I spoke recently to a couple of Krueger-Clear Creek players from waaaaay back braqging how they "held" one of those great Wheatley teams down: "They beat us by less than anyone else that year"
 11. several here and elsewhere (Jim Hicks on TV) have commented favorably about the Kingwood Park coach. I've watched him in his short tenure. Two straight trips to Regional Tourney without much talent, certainly way less than others there. If he keeps oit up, he could get up there with the Kingwood HS, De Soto, HJ, and Yates coaches. VERY GOOD coaches. I like to go to their games and watch well-coached teams. I miss the old Duncanville and Hastings coaches. They were also great. I often travel just to watch them play. Especially in tournaments where I can sit directly behind the bench and listen to what they say and don't say during timeouts compared to other coaches. I'm sure I left other good ones out. English pretty good, too.

However, I can not except quitting on the team, it was obvious that is what happened tonight.  Playing a player significant minutes that had not played since the YMBL. Stating your best big for the a great deal of minutes including the entire third quarter. Going small after Christian was ejected, getting out rebounded 11-1 on that call going from 8 down to 18 down purely on rebounds. If u quit u should resign, I know he has to feed his family but that was piss poor. quitting on the kids is un acceptable. I lost ALL respect for Lee tonight. The kp coach did one heck of a job, no true talent but they do exactly what he says and it works, great job kp.
So you are saying that in the last few games of the regular season and the first couple of games in the playoffs, you had no quarrel/complaint with the coach but as soon as he loses, you lose all respect?
I think it has to do with the talent.  The talent carried us to the 3rd round.  I've always had questions about coaching all year with the exeption of a few games.  I wasn't at the game vs. Kingwood Park, but I stayed in touch via Text message with ABSENT.  I've sat with him in several Central games for about 5 years, and I trust his game analysis.
Agreed, as to road to 3rd round, both Central and KP made it there thru easy opposition. Friday night that changes.
 13.

Why was the central player ejected, I seen on the news he threw the ball but was there something else??
My understanding is that both T's were chicken crap calls.  the first one was after a foul.  Kristain was walking to the free throw line and turned around fast and he and a Kingwood Park players almost ran into each other.  The did the routine brush to the side so that Kris can get to the line and the KP player can line up in the paint.  there were no words, but both players were given a double tech.  The second tech was for throwing the ball after a call.  There was no ref there to throw the ball to, so kris threw the ball at the sidelines, I guess, for the insuing inbound.  Ref T'ed him up.
Your understanding of the 2nd T is incorrect. Ref standing about 3 ft away and he threw the ball straight up about 20 ft. And it was obvious that he did it in reaction to the call. Clearly a T 90% of the time. Not cool for the senior leadership on the team. BTW the call that triggered the 2nd T wasn't a bad one, and there WERE MANY bad calls/no calls, probably 70/30 against Central, for example his 1st T was a double-T and yes, it was a bad call.

I admire that you don't let those nagging little things others call "facts" stand in your way. BTW, it was the differential thru out 7/8ths of the game that you got wrong, not "at one point."
Are you saying that Kingwood Park led 7/8ths of the game?!?!?
Nope. Never said that above or at any other time. Read the old thread. I was right. Nash was wrong, then he proceeded to say it didn't matter. Just like he claimed the dispute was over the score "at one point" just above.  Read the old thread if you care to know.
Hj played them in their Christmas tourney and it may have been as close as anyone has played Hj when HJ won the game.  I agree with your Kingwood Park assessment of fundamentally sound and good coaching.  It would be difficult for me, however, to pick a favorite in this game. You must really be isolated in SE Tx to think HJ or silsbee could hang with Yates. I appreciate your heart, but pleeeze use your brain. Yes, they are kids and if they played 50 times SE Tx could come away with 2 or 3 wins, but you gotta kidding otherwise. HJ struggled with Kingwood Park AT HOME. and Kpark would lose to Yates by 25. Which game were you at?
I was at the same game you allegedly were at. " In doubt" is a relative term and you can call it that if a team is up by 2 or 20, so that wont float.  From my perspective, when it came down to winning and losing the game, there was no doubt.  And you can rest assured that, unless you are on the staff of HJ, you are not qualified to suggest you have a better understanding of this team than I do. 19.
SteveNash, I'd be willing to be my change, your money, and everyone's money on this board that HJ wouldn't play with in 30 of Yates this year. They have 5 Shawn Prudhomme, 3 DC Stallworths, and 4 Kristen Smiths. Yates is young as well. Next it is a FACT they will WALK thru 3A ball. Silsbee, HJ, Sealy, and Waco La Vega better make  the best of this season. Next years Yates will resemble their team from the back to back years. I'm not riding their jocks, but HJ plays too slow and Silsbee is way too small. Manvel is ranked 2nd and they won't play with in 18 of them. I'm not saying no one should be scared of them, but when your high school team is full of AAU players what do you expect. Their bench would win compete for state in 3A this year.
Wait a minute. I want some of that action. I hope this thread is revived next year. GRINNING from ear-to-ear

 23. AcesFull, why haven't you replied to #35 yet? That was clear out of left field. How about it?
